Story
Orson and his sister Orla came to us as older puppies after they were abandoned in a country neighborhood and sought refuge at a house nearby. We thought they surely would get adopted very quickly, but, alas, more than 3 years later, they are still with us. They grew up to be two stunningly beautiful and amazingly sweet dogs. They have never been separated so that we would love to see them adopted together. They walk great on leash, are very calm and well mannered dogs. They have shared space with others and always accepted their "visitors" without any problem. When out on walks, they do very friendly sniff tests with dogs they meet, and ignore the occasional yappie ones they encounter. With us humans, they are cuddly and love to be petted and snuggle. How about it? After 3 years, these two should have their own family, don't you agree?

Story
Hi, I’m Din! I’m a healthy 65-pound boy around 5 years old. I’m up to date on my shots, neutered and best of all… heartworm negative! My Foster Mom calls me her unicorn with trust issues. Let me explain… When I first arrived here, unknown noises like blinds closing or lawn mowers blaring outside made me walk away with my ears back. I was only comfortable with head pets. I growled low if petting was attempted further back, but my foster family gave me lots of time and space so after a few weeks, I felt safe and loved and they can now gently massage my whole back and legs. Now, belly rubs are my favorite! But I’m still not a big fan of noisy lawn equipment. What makes me a unicorn? So many things! I don’t love going into the kennel, but with a treat and a hand on my collar, I go in and lay down for some rest. I keep telling my foster family that I can hang out in the house without being destructive, but they haven’t let me prove it to them, yet. I haven’t counter-surfed – not even once! I didn’t even take a piece of chicken off my foster mom’s plate on the desk when she left it… and it would’ve been an easy sneak! I don’t beg when they’re eating dinner and I crack everyone up when I put my whole face in the water to drink. I also quickly learned the kitchen boundary when my people are cooking, so I don’t get under-foot. My foster mom says I’m a quick study – I can jingle the bells to ask to go out. I’ve even learned that I can push a little button on the ground to ring a doorbell that tells them I would like to come in. I don’t pull on the leash during walks, except when I see snack-sized dogs, deer, or birds. Then my sole attention is given to those shiny objects. And I don’t need marathon-length walks. I’m quite happy laying around at home with my foster mom during the day and then taking a mile or two walk after dinner. But I never say no to a quick walk during lunch. I’ve also been learning commands like sit, down, wait, and come, but I showed my foster family that I respond well to Spanish commands, so I’m learning to be bilingual! My foster family has also allowed me to sleep on the bed with my Foster Brother. He really wanted me to sleep with him, but I wasn’t sure what that was about. With lots of encouragement and some treats, I figured out how to get up there and I just LOVE it! But I also responded quickly to a firm “NO” and “OFF” when I tried to get on the couch or Foster Mom/Dad’s bed. I never did that again! Toys haven’t interested me much. My people here have been giving me all kinds of things to play with, but it wasn’t until I got to play with our neighbors’ dogs (2 Golden Retrievers and a German Shepherd mix) that I realized I can chase a ball! I love to chase it but bringing it back to you is not on my agenda. I really love wrestling with the neighbor’s German Shepherd. We chase each other and climb all over each other. It’s so fun that I run to the fence looking for them all day long. My only health issue is mild hip dysplasia. The doctor said it’s not bad enough to warrant intervention yet since I don’t show symptoms (other than some sensitivity to touch on my hips) and that I should have a good long life with proper care and love. Life has been great here and I love my foster family. But they keep telling me I’m going to get the best forever family and that I’m going to love you for the rest of my life! I’m so ready to meet you! I’m hoping you’ll give me plenty of time to get to know and trust you. I promise I’ll show you all the love, if you do! And I’d love it if you have bigger dogs already for me to play with. Older kid-siblings would probably be best since the little ones’ unpredictable movements still scare me. If you think you’re destined to be my forever family, please fill out the adoption application and let’s get this ball rolling!  I’m located in the DFW metroplex if you’d like to meet me. ##2694592##

Story
Lucy is a 12 year old well behaved and well mannered female, who has a lot of love to give.  She knows standard commands and walks easily on a leash with a standard martingale collar.  She loves everyone she meets, and especially enjoys the attention she gets at pet stores and on her walks.  She doesn't get on the furniture and she sleeps in her bed beside you at night.  She gets along with large and small dogs.  She is fine when left alone, once she's been given a time to acclimate to her new surroundings.  She's happier when she's not crated, but has tolerated a crate as well.  She's definitely a typical Weim who likes to follow her person around the house. As a social senior dog, she enjoys people that are home a good bit, maybe with kids that are a little older and dogs that are low to medium energy, or as an only dog.  Healthwise, she's in good shape for a senior, and is just starting to show signs of arthritis.  In the coming years, she would be better in a home without lots of stairs, as with any older large dog. ##2736610##

Hunter is a 50 lbs bundle of love and is about 1.5 years old.  He LOVES his humans and just wants to please you and make you happy. He was found in an industrial area begging for food. He would be best as an only dog and in a home with older children.  Donate at codysfriendsrescue.org to help us save more lives! https://codysfriendsrescue.org/donate ##837585##

Story
Hershey had quite a journey getting to rescue so she could find her forever home. She is a very engaged and loving girl and really enjoys her human company. Hershey lives with dogs of all sizes and ages and is good with most everyone, even the little evil one that loves to torment others. She has good house manners, can be in a crate, but isn’t a huge fan. She loves to go for rides, is great on a leash, and enjoys meeting new people, so would be a good go everywhere girl. She is not good with cats, just too curious for that species.Hershey is fully vetted - current with vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
We like to think of our B puppies as an Easter present. All six of them, like Easter eggs, have different colors and patterns though we are certain, they are from the same litter. One is cuter than the other, and all are still in infant snuggle mode. Their vetting is not yet complete, but they all have had their initial round of vaccines, have been wormed and are now just inundated with the love they so deserve. How about adding one to your life? Our Furry Friendz are available for adoption through a screening process which includes but is not limited to: a completed application, 3 referrals, a home visit, and a vet referral prior to their furever home placement. The dogs are Spayed/Neutered, micro chipped, current on all vaccines and on heart worm/flea preventive. You will love their puppy antics and puppy snuggles! Come meet them!

Story
Greer is the Mom of our G-litter of puppies. When they were found, her babies were just a few days old, but she was also nursing two older puppies (not hers) who had likely been dumped along with her. We are learning that this act of kindness is the best description of her personality: loving, gentle, kind. What a wonderful girl! She has been spayed now and is ready to join a family who will show her all the love she so deserves! Can it be yours?
