Story
Vader is a sweet, chill dog who needs tender, loving care. This gentle boy, unfortunately, came from a cruelty case where he was left in an apartment for several days. Despite struggling through a rough patch in his life, and being in shelter care for 5 months, he still kept his manners. Favorably, Mister Vader comprehends many commands--including Paw, Sit, Stay, Lay Down, and how to get into his kennel! Such a smart pup! He loves his treats, does anything to get one, and is not aggressive with his food. Keeping Vader clean is easy. Just be sure he is comfortable and calm and he will love it! This boy is also 7 years young!

Vader loves to play ball and with his other toys, so having a fun game of fetch is an excellent way to entertain the pupper! While he likes to meet other dogs, Vader often likes to mind his own business; even pulling a bit on the leash to get an in-depth whiff of his surroundings. Vader is curious! Though very sweet with children, he gets too excited at first meeting them and may scare some little ones with Zoomies. If you take Vader home, he would love you endlessly, sneaking in an extra long cuddle for good measure; if he's feeling extra lovey, he's willing for a hug too! This sweet boy needs any kind of love you can give.

Story
Hi!  My name is Duke and I love warm hugs and belly rubs.  I’m a 9-year, old 80lb weim mix and my foster family tells me I’m amazing.  I have excellent house manner. I take treats gently from you and I don’t have any food or toy aggression.  I’m a pretty happy go lucky guy and I consider myself pretty low maintenance.  I love to sit and watch TV while you rub my belly.  I’m happy to listen to you tell me about your day (preferably while you’re rubbing my belly), I enjoy hanging out in the backyard with you, and I enjoy neighborhood walks.  I walk well on a leash and it doesn’t have to be a crazy long walk.  A nice 15-20 minute walk and I’m completely happy. Sometimes I get a little carried away and try to pull if I see a crazy squirrel (I can be strong) , but mostly I walk along with you and don’t pull.   I’m also a great car rider.  I like to look out the window and then I’ll lay down and enjoy the ride while you’re my chauffer.  I’m no back seat driver.    I recently went to a meet and greet for Weimaraner Rescue of Texas at a local brewery and I was very well behaved so I might even be a good boy that could enjoy going to a patio for coffee or drinks if you want company doing that.   I’m currently living with two fur foster siblings and I get along great with them.   I lived with some cats and bunnies before and I was a little too curious about them so probably best to not share a home with them.  I would really love to have a home with a backyard to watch over and a nice comfy couch to snooze on.  I am doggie door trained so if you have one of those it would be great.  I would be happy as a single dog or in a home with a doggie buddy to hang out with.  Probably a medium to large doggie companion so I don’t confuse them with the crazy felines.    You might be wondering how I ended up in rescue.  It seems I lived with my human and had a loving home until they got sick.  The rest of the family wasn’t able to take me in so I ended up in a shelter.  Luckily rescue scooped me up and now I’ll wait patiently until my new forever family finds me.   If you’re interested in learning more about me, please contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas and they can tell you more about what an amazing guy I am.  Have a great day!  Oh, did I mention I love belly rubs!!!!!   ##1481663##

Story
Maisie is a 10-year-old, 65-pound, gray female that was surrendered by her owner to the shelter.  She is a wonderful dog with a sweet personality.  She loves companionship and enjoys both working and playing.  In the past she has experienced fellings of overwhelm which resulted in some insecurity and social hesitations.  However, she has successfully been through behavior modification training to help her build confidence, resiliency, and trust in others.  She does a great job in being confident when she has a confident leader.  She will do best in a home with owners that will have harmony between being active with her and also have the ability to be calm and relaxed.  She will not do well in a home with children or other dogs.  She will thrive where there is as little chaos as possible and people that will provide her with consistency, boundaries and structure.  She might be hesitant meeting new people or new dogs.  A calm and patient owner, with positive reinforcement, will be best for her. Maisie went through heartworm treatment but is now heartworm negative.  Maisie is a big snuggler and likes to demand your attention and she also loves to play with her toys. She is being fostered in the DFW metroplex if you are interested in adopting her. ##1645377##

Story
Wilma is a lovely special girl who was rescued from a poor situation.  She is a 2-year-old, 65-ish pound, gray girl and bouncy as all young weimaraners are.  Wilma thrives on attention and is a typical velcro weimaraner, wanting to be close to her family always, and striving to please them.  Wilma is highly intelligent and has learned to sit, wait, lay down and walk on a leash.  She picks up cues from her family, and will adapt her needs to yours. Strong guidelines are encouraged.  Wilma has been crated. She is not happy being left alone, and is still learning that her family comes back.  Playtime and quiet times have been scheduled, and she does well with “bonetime” as a means of settling down.  Wilma has not been recall trained yet, and needs extensive time on leash and in fenced yards before that can happen.  She definitely has a prey drive for small animals. I would not trust her with a cat.  She gets along well with dogs her size and larger, but needs to be reminded that not all dogs play as intently or for as long as she does.  She would do better as an only dog and with someone that is home with her frequently. A great match for Wilma would be with a retired couple or family who has the desire and time to commit to her continued training, especially if they already have a weimaraner to continue her training and socialization.  ##1913220##

Story
Arlo is a beautiful 5-year-old, 80-pound, gray male that will need a foster family to go through heartworm treatment after he is finished with his training.  Arlo is already learning loose leash walking and place and will be working more with dogs his size to not resource guard things he thinks are his.  If you are looking to foster/adopt a dog that has gone through full obedience training and willing to work with the trainer to continue and follow through with his training then apply today.  He will be ready to start his injections in mid-March. He is being trained in the DFW area for introductions/inquiries. ##1948147##

Story
Clark is a 4-year-old, 78-pound, neutered male and a giant sweetie with a lot to say.  His fosters have learned that Mr. Griswold purrs when he is happy, but it sounds like a growl.  Clark sings when he is excited getting ready to go for a walk.  He does well on the leash, and is a handsome runner.  His foster family has taken him running up to 8-miles, and it’s like an easy cruise for Clark.  Mr. Griswold would love to be part of your neighborhood HOA and lay down all the laws about speeding, as he is actively working on his training to ignore passing cars while on the run or walk and is getting much better. Clark loves toys, tearing them apart, but has never turned his attentions to destroying anything else in the house.  He will happily busy himself with a Nylabone or deer antler.  He is highly food-motivated, will surf the counters if left unsupervised, and has never met a snack without his name on it.  He can be prone to bullying and eating his foster packmates’ food, so needs to eat in his own area to prevent food bossiness.  He would do best as the only male dog in his household, but did adjust to his young male foster packmate after a few weeks.  Clark got along with his female packmates from the start.    Clark is house trained and uses a doggy door.   He does well when left out in the house while his humans are gone. Clark came to the rescue as a stray with a clean bill of health with the exception of being HW+.  He has completed his treatment and is currently living a quiet, relaxed lifestyle for a few weeks to avoid side effects. The ideal forever home for Clark would be a family who can appreciate his energetic Labrador-like style and continue building his manners.  Clark loves to play tug with his toys and wrestle with his human, but may see that as a challenge from another male dog.  He is a big dog who doesn’t yet recognize how to tone it down for little humans, and while he does well with his foster family’s 11yo kiddo, he might be a lot for a younger child. He is being fostered in the San Antonio area if you are interested in adopting him. ##1887637##
