Story
Romeo oh Romeo.  Romeo is a very handsome 4 year old male coming in right around 80lbs. Although he is a Big boy he would love to lay in your lap at night when it’s time for snuggles. During the day he loves to play with his foster siblings outside. His favorite activity is digging holes while hunting lizards under rocks. He is dog door trained. It would be best for him to have access to outside when needed.  An ideal home for Romeo would have other dogs for him to wrestle and hunt with as well as a nice property for him to explore. He has always been with at least one other dogs and does great in a pack environment. He is not the alpha and likes to just go along. He loves to explore and go on adventures. He has a great nose and will bring home all sorts of special gifts such as animal remains or armadillo shells.  If you give him the opportunity to be naughty he will. He will counter surf if items are there as well as get into trash if he can open it. Does great unsupervised, not in a crate, with sibling as long as food and trash are secured. If crated use caution with his tail. He has an unaltered tail that likes to bleed on the tip when constantly hitting the crate or wall.  Romeo is in the San Antonio area if you are interested in adopting him. ##2418299##

Story
Meet Booray! Booray is a sweet 13-year-old senior boy who is a treat-motivated dog and who listens well and responds nicely to leash guidance. He quickly picked up basic commands like Heel and Sit, even with distractions nearby, showing impressive concentration and willingness to learn. Booray thrives with positive reinforcement and is eager to please. Booray has some hearing and vision impairments, so he relies heavily on his sense of smell. He can be startled if approached unexpectedly, especially when resting, so announcing your presence with his name and a clap is recommended. Because of this, Booray would do best in a home without children. He’s learning crate training and has shown little anxiety so far. Booray is also working on being comfortable with having his collar touched, and responds well to gentle, reward-based desensitization. While Booray may be a bit nervous with strangers at first, he warms up quickly—especially if treats are involved! He’s friendly and gentle when taking treats, though he can get a bit snappy if another dog is too close during treat time. Booray’s foster notes that he’s scared of storms, so a thunder coat or medication like Trazodone may help him feel more secure during bad weather. Booray is looking for a loving, patient home where he can continue to grow in confidence and enjoy plenty of treats, training, and affection! He's located in Dallas if you are interested in adopting this senior boy. ##2401169##

Story
Meet Ringo! Ringo is a sweet, energetic boy with a big heart and a playful spirit! He loves to “talk” to let you know what he needs — usually that it’s time for a potty break, dinner, or playtime. Ringo isn’t a fan of being crated and may rub his nose trying to get out, so he’d do best in a home where he can have a comfy spot of his own instead. When he first arrives somewhere new, he’s full of excitement and curiosity — but once he’s checked everything out, he settles right down and loves nothing more than curling up in your lap for cuddles on the couch. He’s wonderful with kids, though because he’s still learning how strong he is, he’d be happiest with a family that has older children. Ringo is a little mischievous (as all smart pups are!) and will explore anything left within reach, so a watchful eye is best. This outdoorsy guy absolutely loves being outside and going on adventures. He’s a bit unsure around other dogs for now but shows curiosity toward cats without chasing them. Ringo would thrive with a family who can give him a little training, lots of love, and room to play. With his affectionate nature and goofy charm, he’s sure to make a wonderful addition to any home! He is located in San Antonio if you are looking to adopt him. ##2437365##

Meet Skippy – the Dog-Lover’s Dog If dogs could hand out friendship bracelets, Skippy would be covered in them. This boy lives for his four-legged friends! A true social butterfly, Skippy thrives in playgroups at OHAR and is happiest when he's surrounded by canine companions. Whether it’s a game of chase, a sniff session, or just lounging in the sun with a buddy, Skippy is all in.But when it comes to humans… Skippy’s heart is a little guarded. You see, Skippy has been let down more times than we can count. His journey began at the Mesquite Animal Shelter way back in 2017. OHAR stepped in to give him a chance, but his first foster placement wasn’t the right fit. Thankfully, an experienced foster took him in and gave him the time, structure, and love he needed to blossom into the amazing pup he truly is.He found what we hoped would be his forever home in 2020, but sadly, Skippy has found himself back with us—returned because his adopters couldn't provide the guidance he still needs. The one human who has ever made Skippy feel safe was his foster mama. She saw his heart, his potential, and never gave up on him.And we won’t either.Skippy deserves more than just another stop on his journey—he deserves his person. Someone patient, experienced, and kind. Someone who understands that trust is earned, not expected. Someone who will let Skippy shine in his own time.Could that someone be you?Let’s show Skippy that forever really does exist.Adoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule.
