When transitioning into a home, it’s recommended she not be left alone for more than 4–6 hours at first to help her feel safe and secure. Sleeping arrangements: She sleeps in a designated area alongside other dogs where she feels comfortable and at ease. While she is not currently in a home environment, she is expected to adjust quickly. Temperament Kiara truly stands out for her gentle, calm, and mature demeanor. She’s the kind of dog who quietly captures your heart the moment you meet her. Affectionate and easy to be around, Kiara bonds quickly and genuinely enjoys companionship and cuddles. At the same time, she has a lovely independent side and is perfectly content finding a sunny spot to relax on her own. This beautiful balance makes her an ideal family dog or a wonderful companion for someone seeking a loyal, loving presence. Ideal Home Kiara will thrive with a family or a dedicated individual who values gentle companionship and regular daily activities. She’s looking for a calm, loving environment where she can continue to feel safe, secure, and cherished while sharing her affection freely. Rescue Story Kiara was surrendered by her family to a local rescue partner known for caring for multiple dogs. When her family decided they no longer wanted her, Kiara’s future became uncertain. Without hesitation, her rescuer stepped in to protect her so she would never experience neglect. As if she understood she was finally safe, Kiara adjusted beautifully over more than a year to her new life as part of a pack. Though resources were sometimes limited, she always had stability, balance, and care. Now, it’s Kiara’s turn to move forward and find her forever home—a place where she will be chosen every day, deeply loved, and cherished for the rest of her life. Story
Meet Pixie — a tiny dynamo with a big personality! Pixie was found by a kind 97-year-old woman, and while we don’t know how long she lived on the streets, it’s clear this little girl has already overcome a lot. Pixie tested heartworm positive after being rescued and is bravely completing her treatment, which is expected to be finished in early February. Now about 2 years old, she’s looking ahead to a brighter future in a loving forever home. Pixie is a terrier–Chihuahua mix (we think!) who brings confidence, energy, and charm wherever she goes. She’s a high-energy, alpha female who knows what she likes and isn’t afraid to show it — a true “small but mighty” kind of girl. She does well with other dogs and currently lives in her foster home with three large dogs and two other small Chihuahuas. Pixie enjoys walks, doesn’t mind car rides, and once she feels comfortable, she’s perfectly happy entertaining herself with her chew toys. Like many confident little pups, Pixie is protective of her personal space and appreciates having a safe spot of her own. Her crate is her sanctuary, and she may guard her toys — so she’ll do best with an adopter who understands and respects boundaries. She can be vocal at times, as is typical of small dogs, and she makes a great little alert pup. Pixie is still working on potty training, and she’s very treat-motivated, which will help her continue learning and thriving. Pixie would do best with an experienced dog owner who appreciates a confident, spirited little companion with lots of personality. If you’re looking for a spunky, independent, and entertaining sidekick — Pixie might just be your girl. Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

These pups are in Newcastle, Washington too!

Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. We had one of our people reach out to us in CO about a breeder who had a female scottie who had been searching everywhere for a male to breed with her so they could live off the backs of the dogs. She finally gave up & had no use for Velvet & wanted her gone but as per usual wanted money, we could not leave Velvet to fall into the wrong hands. She was keeping everyone outside 24/7 in cages rain hail or shine & was & still is breeding many breeds of dogs we come to find out. Velvet was one of the very lucky ones. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Velvet how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as they are in their foster home. Velvet was flown back to the WA state where she is now so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. The state Velvet was picked up in was absolutely devastating & so sad. She was so filthy & stunk so badly & was so very skinny. It appeared she had been just living in a cage outside. That was her whole life prior to us. We could tell she was not being fed well either because of her previous obsession with food, but those days are far behind us with her diet now. We had to teach her everything about being in a home & she has flourished now. She is the sweetest girl. So very easy going & a free spirit. She deserves to be so very loved. But let’s not kid ourselves she has the typical head strong scottie personality & there are days where things are on her terms by being stubborn. She has mastered wooden stairs & can go up & down them no worries. When she wants something she will bark at you to let you know. She loves both her foster mum & dad. She now knows what toys are & loves playing with her toys. She goes potty outside & has potty material potty pads down for her to. She absolutely loves her foster siblings. She adores all ages of dogs no matter what size or age. When we first got her we had to teach her to be in a loving home with dogs & be with them in a normal environment. She enjoys wearing a good outfit as we have put jumpers on her. She is extremely sweet but is very loving & a very cuddly little lady. She really enjoys snuggling with you & we know she adores being picked up & held & carried around to see what is going on. At first she had no idea what it was to be held & loved but now she gets ready to receive love & gets ready for her foster mum to pick her up. She also likes to be where her foster mum is or her foster dad. She goes up to her foster dad & puts her paws on him to give him love. The reality is, the foster homes are her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over her head that’s not outside. Velvet is a wonderful eater & we know that she is obsessed with food with the amount of weight she has put on in her loving foster home with the good nutrition she is getting. She eats a clean diet meaning, raw fruits, vegetables, grains & proteins & supplements. She gets bully sticks & collagen sticks & loves them. Well she is absolutely obsessed with them. She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not get to experience ever until she was rescued. She absolutely loves to sleep in the bed with you too & be apart of what you are doing. She will want to sleep with you or on a pile of fluffy blankets or dog bed with her friends. She is such a sweetheart who just wants to be loved & to make up for her past. She loves everyone & is so very sweet. She is wonderful with being bathed & groomed & loves the hairdryer as we started working on that with her straight away. She would still need work on a harness & leash as she goes out in a fully fenced backyard in her foster home. Velvet loves going in the car & just looks around & takes it all in & when she is not she is snuggled in her dog seat with her friends. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Velvet as you can imagine spent the first part of her life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Velvet where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them. Velvet is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her. Velvet has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & she is currently in a loving foster home. She absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home for her to thrive in. She needs a playful dog or dogs in the home & a senior dog will not work & she will be too much for that dog. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take her to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard if it’s a freestanding home. Velvet is roughly 24 lbs & she is 4 years old & a Scottish terrier. She has put on a lot of weight since being in the rescue in her foster home. She is spayed by laser, microchipped, had her previous shots, including DHPP, bordatella, rabies & dewormed. But once these shots expire we will not redo them except for rabies as we do not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. We have spent far more on Velvet with getting her from a breeder & bringing her to WA with her travel costs, her transportation to WA. All of her medical care in WA & MO etc & bringing her to WA then her adoption fee comes close to covering. We have spent close to $4,000 on her. Velvet has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had her around small children but we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Velvet was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Velvet’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Velvet potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Velvet & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via Zoom followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Velvet who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for the string willed Velvet. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Velvet has an adoption fee of $895 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.

We no longer accept PayPal due to their fees they charge the rescue but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. The oh so spirited & full of personality Slinky ended up in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He looked absolutely defeated & so extremely frightened. He was posted online on social media begging for his life to be saved as he was going to be euthanized. He was out of time. He was posted looking a lot thinner than he is now, he had so much fur missing & obviously neglected. We could not let him lose his life & we were the only ones who showed interest in saving him. Slinky came back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find a home to love him. The absolute insanity to think this amazing soul ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Slinky just wants to be loved. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. He is uncertain of new people at first, then he is your best friend once he knows you. We do know his finder did grab him quickly on the streets in CA & it was not a good experience for him & he nipped the finder because he was frightened. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. In his foster home he eats clean. Fruits, vegetables, grains, raw meat & other proteins along with supplements. He also adores a good treat which are homemade. When it’s time to eat he gets very excited & can jump high with enthusiasm over & over again & will let you know he wants his food. He does get excited now & has a big zest for life, love & adventure. This boy will look at you with so much gratitude & admiration & his foster mum said he is really such a good & smart boy. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled & given love. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & spend his day relaxing. He enjoys sleeping on the couch & sleeping in bed with you at night. If he is sleeping on the couch & a dog annoys him, he will let them know & go mad at them for waking him up. His foster mum still cannot believe someone would abandon him as he is so lovely & can be carried around & enjoys his belly being rubbed & will fall asleep while doing it. Slinky new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard. He enjoys going out into the backyard in his foster home & having a wander around & sunning himself. Slinky has been great with his baths because he started having them with us in his loving foster homes the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will stand up & hug you while drying him. He has put on a good amount of weight since being in his loving foster home & was so thin when first rescued. Slinky rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. Slinky still needs work walking on his harness & leash & is still learning. We are looking for a forever home for Slinky where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. We cannot stress this enough that due to the trauma he experienced at the shelter he must not be put into a crate. He loses his mind. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Slinky is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Slinky has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. He absolutely needs another dog in his forever home for him to thrive. He will play with any size dog that is up for his playing. Slinky is roughly 1 year old & 10.4 lbs, he is male, & possibly a carin terrier mix. He is now neutered & had a dental cleaning. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Once these shots expire we do not redo them only rabies as we do not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. Slinky has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system.
