Personality
Polito may only weigh 9 pounds, but his heart and personality are absolutely enormous. This adorable little terrier is sweet, affectionate, and loves everyone he meets. His charming personality makes him nearly impossible not to fall in love with.
Now safe in his Pacific Northwest foster home, Polito has settled into a wonderful routine and has proven to be an easy, happy companion. He loves to cuddle, whether it's curling up next to you while you work, snuggling on the couch, or sleeping tucked beside you all night. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow, Polito is your guy.
He has the cutest playful side, too! He loves chewing on his favorite toys and bones, chasing his tiny tennis ball, and playing tug with his fleece rope toy. Every day includes a few joyful zoomies around the house, complete with adorable bunny hops that are guaranteed to make you smile.
Polito is incredibly calm and quiet. He rarely barks—so far, his biggest "enemy" has been his own reflection in the bathroom mirror! On walks, he politely watches other dogs with curiosity instead of barking, as if hoping they'll become new friends.
Like many terriers, Polito forms deep bonds with his people. He thrives on companionship and will happily spend his days by your side.
Compatibility
Good with other dogs (prefers smaller dogs)
Good with children
Cats unknown, but may do well with slow, proper introductions
No resource guarding
Very quiet, occasional alert barker
Low-shedding, wire-haired coat
Low to medium energy
Training
Polito has adjusted beautifully to home life.
Walks nicely on leash and improves every day without pulling
Rides well in the car
House-trained and follows a consistent potty routine
Crate-trained for travel
His foster reports that he enjoys a couple of short walks each day (his little legs don't need to go far!), followed by chewing his favorite bone and settling in for a cozy nap nearby.
Ideal Home
Polito would thrive with someone who loves having a constant companion. Whether you're working from home, retired, or simply enjoy bringing your dog along on adventures, Polito will happily be by your side.
He would do well:
As an only spoiled pup, or with another friendly small dog
In an apartment or house where he receives plenty of love and daily interaction
With someone who enjoys leisurely walks, cuddling, and including their dog in everyday life
A securely fenced yard is a bonus, but not required. Because Polito is fearless and doesn't realize how tiny he is, his family should always keep him safe around larger dogs.
His Rescue Story
Polito's journey began when an urgent plea for help surfaced about a severe dog-hoarding situation in Guadalajara, Mexico. Among dozens of neglected small dogs, Polito was rescued by a dedicated animal advocate who discovered he shared a particularly close bond with another little dog named Pilar.
Despite spending much of his life without the love and stability every dog deserves, Polito has embraced his second chance with incredible resilience. Today, he's flourishing in his Pacific Northwest foster home, where he's showing everyone just how affectionate, gentle, and joyful he truly is.
Now all that's missing is a forever family to give this special little boy the happy ending he's been waiting for.
