Story
Hi, I'm Rosie and I see you have already read about my brother Riley. I am a one year old wire haired terrier mix, around 40 lbs. I am a sweet girl who loves everyone, although neither my brother nor I have any cat experience. I am a bit shy and I do love to have my "big" brother around so would love to go to a home with him if at all possible. Just think - double the love and fun! I am sure he said that we came from the streets so there are lots of new skills we are still learning but both of us are super sweet and are so excited to find this thing they call a "home". *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kennelled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*

Story
This semi-scruffy little man is a true lover! He is like my little shadow. He gets along pretty well with guys and gals his size (the 6 fur-neighbors and crew of 3 at home), but enjoys being the center of attention. Sox prefers to snuggle in bed with his humans but with the crew he is with now there are doggie nights and there are kitty nights. He does love his tiny blue kong chew toy and some other pink chew toy. There is no need ro sneak treats in it. His front teefers might be all gone but the back teeth love the chew toy. Speaking of kitties... he is not afraid to approach them, which is why he spends his time with the doggie crew in the family room unless escorted to another room. "Approach is putting it nicely. Sweet Sox can sleep through the night without any accidents. Because the crew he hangs with lacks some discipline, it is a mystery how well he does when he roams freely, a puddle js a puddle, and none of the crew admits who did it. Sox is a light eater. He can chew some kibble and hard crunchy treats but it is easier to eat soft food. He has feasted on the Purina One Chicken and Brown Rice Tender Cuts in Gravy or their other choice of Beef and Barley Tender Cuts in Gravy. But mostly Sox fills up on The Honest Kitchen Grain Free Chicken Recipe and their turkey version (new on the menu). You might ask how he got his name Tusky. When he was surrendered he literally had bottom teeth that looked like Tusks! Soon after being saved he visited the vet and was scheduled for teeth extractions! All the front teef are ancient history. Tusky Sox seems rather healthy, however he did test positive for heartworm. He is being treated on a slow treatment, a combination of doxycycline every other 30 days and heart worm chews every 2 weeks! Wrap the doxy in a piece of turkey or other delicious leftover and he is good to go! BTW he answers to Sox, his given name moons ago. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. As per usual it seems these days that the call was put out for the need from commercial breeders who needed some of their dogs gone, at a cost of course in the middle of Omaha. Of course they always want money for the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. But despite where they lived & were going to be used to make money off their backs, they are always the most precious bundles of joy. Hubert’s life was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. He was one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued Hubert & 7 other baby dolls. 2 of those were possibly his siblings. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Hubert how he is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as he is in his foster home. Hubert, his siblings & his friends & were bought back to the WA state where he is now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home. Hubert’s foster mum said, Hubert thinks he is a big boy & thinks he is the boss of everyone he plays with in his foster home. But he is oh so sweet & cuddly & looks at you with those beautiful eye once you pick him up & hold him. He will wait for his foster mum to pick him up for love. He can be loud when he is having the time of his life playing with his dog friends. Not barking but talking. Plus look out when it’s time for food, he is the first one ready to eat & will try to steal food from his foster siblings. He loves to eat. At night she said when it is time for bed, he will be jumping at the side of the bed for him to be picked up to get into bed with them. She said he is such a funny little guy. The reality is, the foster homes are his real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding he can snuggle up in, a roof over his head that’s not outside. Hubert is a wonderful eater & is not shy about eating & has not been since the day we got him & his foster family took him home. In his foster home he eats clean, meaning fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins & supplements. He is obsessed with his food & treats. He adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something he did not get to experience ever until he was rescued. He will also want to sleep in bed with you or with his dogs friends snuggled up. He would still need to be taught to walk on a harness & leash. He is a puppy & we have not taken him out anywhere. He still needs to learn his puppy manners. Hubert rides in the car well & considering the only times we know of was when he went to be sold & when we got him & going home with his foster family & to & from the vets. It’s still all new to him though. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lad only. Hubert as you can imagine spent the first part of his life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Hubert where someone is home during the day or he can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them. Hubert is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him & never give up on him. Hubert has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in his foster home & he is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. He absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home roughly the same size for him to thrive in. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Hubert is roughly 4.4 lbs & he is 12 weeks old & ‭a carin terrier‬. He has put on weight since being in his loving foster home. What he is mixed with we are not sure, male, he will be neutered by laser by our wonderful vets, he is microchipped, receive his last shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed all under contract with ASTR by 6 months of age. We have spent far more on Hubert with paying for him from a commercial breeder. Bringing him to WA with his travel/flight costs, his transportation to WA. All of his medical care in WA etc & bringing him to WA then his adoption fee comes close to covering. His adoption fee does not even cover half of what we have spent on this little lad. Hubert has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not him around small children so we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Hubert was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Hubert’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Hubert potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Hubert & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Hubert who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for the special sweet little Hubert. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Hubert has an adoption fee of $1850 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.
