Story
Hello, friends, my name is Oliver! I’m a 1-year-old, 9lb Yorkie Shih Tzu mix (Shorkie) boy, and I’ll be honest – my start in life was rough. I was found by the side of the road, discarded like I didn’t matter. Because of that, I’m still learning to trust and I can be unsure when meeting new people and other dogs — proper introductions are a must. My amazing foster mom is working with me on this, and I’m making progress every day! I’m doing okay with my older female foster dog sibling, but I may do best as an only dog where I can get all the attention. I don’t know about cats yet, and I need an adult-only home – no kids for me, please. I sleep in bed with my foster mom at night and love lounging on the couch during the day because comfort is life! I am pretty sure I am what you call housebroken. I haven’t learned yet how to tell my humans when I need to go potty, but I know I can learn. For now, if you take me out frequently, I do great with no accidents. I do okay on a leash but need help building my confidence when seeing other people and dogs…I would really prefer a home with a fenced-in yard to run and play and so I don’t need to go on many walks. Crates are ok and I know they keep me safe when you’re not home. They are also helpful because…now here’s the fun part: I’m still ALL puppy! I’m a chewer who loves my favorite toys, so you’ll need to puppy-proof your home and protect your favorite things. Fair warning! I need a patient, experienced adopter who understands I’ve been through a lot and will give me time to heal and grow. I’m young with so much potential – I just need someone who believes in me. Is that YOU? Apply to adopt me here: www.floridacockerrescue.org Adoption fee: $395

Story
Hello friends, Cooper here. I’m a sweet 9-year-old Yorkie boy who came to FCCR right before Thanksgiving in critical condition and needing emergency surgery. But guess what? I made it through and now I’m ready to find my forever home! I’m a little fighter with a big heart, and I’m so grateful for this second chance at life. I get along great with other dogs and I’m a very affectionate boy who LOVES to give kisses! My favorite place in the whole world? My human’s lap – that’s where all the magic happens! I’m treat motivated (what can I say, I love snacks!), I’m okay in the car for adventures, and I sleep in the bedroom in my little bed, though I’ll definitely try to sneak up into your bed if you let me! Now, I do need a patient family who can help me with a few things. I’m still working on my house-breaking skills, so consistency and a good routine will help me succeed. I don’t like to be crated – I prefer being close to my people. We haven’t tested me on a leash yet, so that’s still a mystery to uncover together! I have a partially collapsed trachea but it only shows when I get excited and I take medication to manage it. I also have an occasional limp (back leg), but I also take medication for that and get around just fine. I’m a senior guy so this kinda stuff is part of life. It doesn’t get me down and I’m very comfortable and happy! I’m looking for a loving home that will continue my journey of healing and give me all the lap time and kisses I can handle. Are you ready to be my forever family? Apply to adopt me through the rescue website: www.floridacockerrescue.org Adoption fee: $295

Story
Hello FCCR friends, I’m Leyla and I’m a sweet 10-year-old, 8-pound Yorkie mix girl with quite the story! I was found all alone outside a bar in southern Florida when a kind Good Samaritan rescued me and contacted FCCR. Now I’m fully vetted, in good health, and ready to find my forever home! I’m a very chill girl who loves to explore the yard and just take in everything around me. I’m good with other dogs and I like to hang out and watch them do their thing – I’m more of an observer than a party animal! I appear to be housebroken when taken outside on a frequent schedule, and I’m fine in a crate and the car. I’m not a big leash walker, but I do okay when needed. Here’s a little about my personality: I can be a bit anxious when being picked up, but once I’m cradled in your arms, I really enjoy it. I would be okay with older, dog-savvy children who understand I need a gentle touch and approach. I have not met cats yet but I might be ok since I keep to myself and won’t bother them. What I’m really looking for is a calm home where I can chill out with my humans – whether that’s lounging on the sofa or quietly exploring the yard. After everything I’ve been through, I’m ready for the peaceful, loving life I deserve. Could you be my happy ending? Apply for me through the FCCR website: www.floridacockerrescue.org Adoption fee: $285

Story
Hi ya, new friends! My name is Bonnie and I’m a one-year-old Chorkie girl – that’s Chihuahua meets Yorkshire Terrier – and I pack a whole lot of personality into my tiny 9-pound frame. People say I’ve got that classic terrier attitude, and I would say they’re absolutely right. LOL I’m confident, I’m smart as a whip, and I know exactly what I want out of life. And what I want most is my very own family who gets me. I’ve been let down before by people before but I’m an optimist at heart. I trust quickly because I believe in second chances, and I’m hoping you might be mine. When I find my people, I love them with every ounce of my little being. I’m the kind of dog who will be your shadow, your confidant, and your most loyal companion. Two big personal pluses — I have excellent house manners and I’m fantastic on a leash. I love our walks together and showing off my perfect manners. I actually get along just fine with other dogs most of the time – we can play and hang out together without any drama. But when it’s meal time or I’m playing with my favorite toys, I prefer to enjoy them without other dogs around. A girl deserves some space sometimes! Speaking of space, I’d really thrive in an adults-only home. Kids are great, but their energy can be a bit much for a sophisticated lady like me. I prefer the calmer rhythm of adult life, where I can be the center of attention and get all the love and respect I deserve. If you’re looking for a small dog with a huge heart and just the right amount of sass, I might be your perfect match. I will bring joy, laughter, and endless snuggles to the right family. Could that be you? If yes, please submit an application through our website, www.floridacockerrescue.org. ADOPTION FEE: $375.00

Story
Hi friends! I’m Pauley, your future 10-pound shadow who believes that love is the only compass you really need. At 9 years young, I’m a mature Maltese gentleman whose eyes might be a little cloudy, but my spirit shines bright! I can see shadows and navigate by following your voice - it’s like my personal GPS to happiness. I’m your ultimate kitchen assistant (especially when treats are involved) and a champion cuddler who’s mastered the art of couch companionship. Just help me up and down, and I’m golden! I get along with other dogs — there are several in my foster home and I do just fine. I haven’t met a cat yet but if they are dog-savvy and gentle then we could probably be friends. I’m very friendly to all humans but no small kids (12 and up would be fine). I have good house manners especially when I’m on a routine to go out often. I am a smart cookie…already mapped out my foster home and how to get to the back door and to the grass. I hope my future family has someone who is home more often than not. A few more things you will love about me — I’m crate-trained, I ride great in the car and I have good leash walking skills…love getting out and about and sniffing the beautiful world. I’m learning to play with toys but my favorite hobby is EATING! LOL. My four remaining teeth work just perfectly so don’t hold anything back! I’m proof that the most beautiful souls sometimes come in packages that need a little extra TLC. Could you be my guiding light? I promise to give you my whole heart! You can apply to adopt me through FCCR’s website, www.floridacockerrescue.org. ADOPTION FEE: $295
