Story
Maggie was born in Berryville, Arkansas on September 30th, 2016 and weighs just under 7 lbs. She is a 7 yr old spayed female, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. She recently had her dental check up and cleaning, and had several teeth removed leaving her with one tooth. She will require a soft food diet as this is new to her. She loves anyone, especially males. She easily welcomes anyone. She loves food, but her favorites are fresh strawberries, and as soon as you start cutting them, she is pawing at your legs. She also loves green beans, scrambled eggs, and boiled/baked chicken and rice. Unlike her brother, Waylon, she does not play with toys. Her favorite game is when you put your hand under the blanket and wiggle your fingers and make noises. She loves to play growl, and playfully attack your hand. She also loves to zoom around, chase her brother, and when you jump in her path and “roar” at her, and pretend like you are going to chase her. She does not mask her feelings, and will wag her butt so hard her whole back end shakes, when she is excited to see you. She loves car rides, especially if they aren’t to the groomer, or the vet! All you have to do is grab the leash, or ask her is she wants to go for a R-I-D-E. We call her a “diva” because ,although she will sleep under the covers, she loves to sleep on one of her pillows. She won’t lay on it at night until it is “fluffed” and then she burrows in, and likes to be covered up at night. She is a beggar. She pretends she cannot jump up on the couch, bed, etc., but as soon you sit at the table to eat, you will see her head popping up above the table as she jumps up and down. She is not fully house broken, and will go outside to go potty, but will also stand at the door like she wants to go out, but does not bark, whine, or alert that she is there, so if you don’t know, she will walk away and pee on the floor. She is also stubborn and will run away when you open the door to let her out, so she doesn’t have to go out in the cold, snow, rain, etc. She is scared of loud noises like power tools, firecrackers, and thunderstorms. When she is scared, she will come seek you out to cuddle with her, and let her know it’s okay. She also likes to be cuddled into her carry bag and be carried around with you when she is scared. She does not wear clothes well, except for a jacket when going out for a walk in the cold. Unlike her brother, she freezes in place when you put a shirt or clothing on her, like she is a statue. Please keep in mind Maggie must be adopted along with her brother Waylon as a bonded pair. Maggies adoption Fee is $400. You will get copies of all medical records. If interested please go to www.yorkierescueofamerica.org to fill out an adoption application.

Story
Waylon was born in Berryville, Arkansas on May 5th, 2019 and weighs about 5 lbs. He is a 4 yr old, neutered male, microchipped, up to date on his vaccines. He recently had his teeth cleaned, and 6 teeth removed (four on the bottom in front, and two upper teeth in the back). He was purchased when he was about 4 months old. He has always been very nervous around new people, and protective of his person. He is an automatic alarm, barking anytime the garage door opens, someone is at the front door, or someone is about to enter the room. Since the moment we brought him home, he has looked to his big sister, Maggie, to determine what to do, what is safe, and where to go. He prefers females, but is fine with males he spends a lot of time with (husband, boyfriend, sibling, etc). He is fine to ride in the car, but until he is comfortable, it is best for him to ride in a carrier, because he tends to get car sick when he is very nervous, or on a long ride. Strangely, he does not seem to get air sick. He is scared of loud noises, like power tools, vacuums, blenders, etc., but he does not seem to mind, loud movies, thunderstorms, and fireworks. Although he doesn’t like the vacuum, he doesn’t seems to mind the broom, but the mop is an evil stick that must be barked at, and nipped when it moves across the floor. Maybe it’s a Shitzu in disguise? He wears a belly band during the day (not at night) because he loves to mark the house. He never started marking until after he was neutered. He’s been checked out and has no underlying health problems that would cause this, and his vet believes he is just holding a grudge. He loves his squeaky toys, and has his particular favorites. He learned to play fetch as a puppy to wear him down before bed, so he will bring his favorite toy up and drop it near you in hopes you will throw it so he can fly off the bed, grab it, and bring it back. Sometimes he likes to play a little tug-o-war, or keep away with it for fun. His favorite place to sleep is under the covers with his humans. He is spoiled and loves to sleep on a body pillow next to his person, under the covers. He usually gets up at least once in the middle of the night to go out, and get a drink of water. If you don’t lift the covers for him to get under, he will gently paw at the pillow next to your head to alert you that he is waiting. His favorite foods are fresh strawberries, scrambled eggs, green beans, and boiled/baked chicken and rice. Although, he will jump on the table and eat anything if you leave it and walk away. He is familiar with a pool, but doesn’t really like to swim. He prefers to float on the pool float with his person, as long as he trusts them. Waylon will wear clothes, shirts, jackets, just fine. Unlike his sister, Maggie, who will freeze in place like a statue. He has never been abused or traumatized, but for some reason he is more trusting of women (maybe softer voices, or graceful movements) and will attach himself to one person, and follow them everywhere like a shadow. He is fine with men, and would do well with a couple, and his bonded sister, Maggie. If you are interested in Waylon who is part of a bonded pair with Maggie, please fill out an adoption application at www.yorkierescueofamerica.org. Waylon's adoption fee is $450

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 13 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home.  I am in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in one temp. foster home, but another temp. foster said I barked at dogs that entered the same room as me as well as those I passed on my walks, so I do not want to live with them. / My former family reported that I did not like cats and Mostly Mutts agrees. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.      • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and once bit my former foster mom, though I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it. My former owner did not report any bites.  My foster said I like new people to go slow as I get to know them so, please be patient with me as I adjust to my new home and any new people I meet.  It just took a few days for me to feel comfortable with a temp. foster when my regular foster was away.  She even called me a ‘real love bug.’  Once I am settled, I am sure to show you how sweet I can be!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer at the shelter is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I also knew the word ‘no’ and ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good in my former home and are good at Mostly Mutts, and it’s best that I sleep in a crate at night instead of the bed with you, as that is a time that I bit my person. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and in my foster home.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks and playing fetch.  It was fun playing in the fall leaves too. I enjoy having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed as well as cuddles and scratches on my back.  Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my paws, tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men or people going too fast as I get to know them.  I don’t like dogs coming too close and alert bark at animals I see outside.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training, and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.    I am looking for a loving home for life with a dog experienced person!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  April 23, 2024, 6:54 am

Story
Please read the entire bio for this rescue, it will provide all the information that one needs to decide if they would like to apply to adopt from SCMR.Adoption fee:  $250.00 Tiffy Marie is a pretty little 8-10 year old Yorkie who weighs about 11 pounds. She loves to eat so comes with a slow feeder bowl to help her maintain a trim figure! She is housetrained and will use pee pads but prefers to go outside. Tiffy can be itchy with allergies and needs to be on a regular diet of premium dry food (such as Life's Abundance or Wellness or Blue Buffalo) with a small amount of mashed fresh vegetables. Most dry foods purchased at the grocery store, with the exception of Blue Buffalo, are not premium foods and are not recommended. She prefers for her person to be home with her and barks a lot if left alone too long. She would do really well with someone who works from home or with a retired person who doesn't go out a lot. Tiffy can get aggressive with other dogs so she must be an only dog! She's very loving with people. Some girls just don't want to share! We don't know how she would be with cats since there are no cats in her foster home. But I would think she would not like the competition for attention. Tiffy Marie is being fostered in Largo, FL.    Adoption fee:  $250.00 Out-of-state adoptions are possible; however, the approved adoptive home is responsible for making the necessary arrangements to pick up their new little one.   To be considered to adopt me, please fill out an APPLICATION.   NOTE: SCMR DOES NOT adopt to homes with children under the age of 10 years or homes with Electric Fences.
