Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  12 years old / 12 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in my former foster home, but don’t want to live with one. / My former family reported that I did not like cats. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.        • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the  volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and will sometimes growl or nip for no apparent reason, even with my person. I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it, but I’m just not sure.  My former owner did not report any bites. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a member of the Mostly Mutts University training program. I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I knew the word ‘no’, and the words ‘tee-tee and boo-boo’ for going potty.  Also, ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good in my former home and are good at Mostly Mutts, and it’s best that I sleep in a crate at night instead of the bed with you, as that is a time that I bit my person. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and my former family said that I was potty trained, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks, having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed. Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training and attention. • MEDICAL:   I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over the counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.   I am looking for a loving home for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 28, 2023, 11:08 am

Story
A SWEET FRIEND IN THE MAKING:  8 years old / 8 lbs. Hi, my name is Phantom!  I was adopted from animal control as a gift to my previous owner, but I was in my home only three weeks before my owner had to relocate for military duties.  I’m glad Mostly Mutts has taken me in to help me find a new home to love and be loved in.  I needed a good dental cleaning which I received thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I coexisted fine with the medium size dog in my temporary foster home, not wanting to play, but just follow him around.  I would be happy to be an only dog as I tend to choose my person and not want to share them. / I did well with the dog-friendly cat in my temp. foster home, just following her around, so if you have a dog-friendly or dog-tolerant cat at home, let’s meet. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but – as stated above, since I choose my person, best there be no children in my new home.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a bit of a timid and skittish little guy who likes a quiet environment but also wants to be with people.  It was discovered in a foster home that I am a ‘resource guarder’ and my resource is my favorite person.  Unfortunately, I bit my foster dad, as I had ‘chosen’ my foster mom as my person and I was sitting in her lap at the time.  This is a trainable trait if you follow the rules like not letting me on the furniture or in laps.  The folks at Mostly Mutts will be glad to help you understand how to be successful with this.  The shelter volunteers are now working hard with me to train me to accept attention from various people to grow my trust in several people rather than choosing just one.  I have shown improvement in the last few days.  When I am comfortable, I am an active and sweet fellow.  I did snip at my foster mom a couple of times when she was petting me, so perhaps I should not be doted on a lot.  Sometimes less is better.   My general energy level is 2-4 right now, but it may increase a little as I get comfortable in my new home.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I will be working on lots of doggie commands with my trainer including not to guard my trainer.  My temp. foster says I have nice leash manners. Check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I’ll need your help with reinforcing good potty habits, as I was having accidents in my foster home and at the shelter too, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like attention and being with my people, as well as lying right beside you in the perfect place.  I also enjoy going for walks, preferably in less busy areas.  I would also like a nice quiet environment to live in. / Right now I don’t like to share my person, and I am working on correcting this behavior. The noise at the shelter makes me nervous, so the volunteers usually take me out before or after the walking shifts when it is quieter.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I had a much-needed dental cleaning with 2 teeth pulled, so my mouth is feeling clean and fresh again.   I am looking for a calm, quiet home where my family will help me be successful and happy. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 28, 2023, 11:08 am

Story
PLEASE READ This dog was bought roughly around the age of 4 from a local animal shelter with 0 previous owner history due to him being brought in as a stray, he was extremely unkept and seemed to have trauma from being stray. This dog must go to an experienced, energetic home, no seniors, no one without the finances to get him what he needs to have better quality of life. He is extremely reactive to anyone in sight, he is an escape artist, he barks a lot it’s never ending, it will be impossible for you to groom him yourself without him nipping at you, this is not my dog but I have spent the past 4 years trying to help out the owner by training him to ease the reactivity but it never sticks. Another thing to keep in mind is he is extremely territorial over food not aggressive, he eats extremely fast even with a slow feeder, he can eat a lot so to maintain his weight you have to know when to stop because he will beg beg beg. He loves kids, he is ok with dogs, great with cats!

Story
Meet Willa! Willa is a 5 yr old purebred Yorkie who was left behind when her owner took a job out of state. Thankfully, she ended up in the hands of a Good Samaritan who reached out to RMG to help her find her perfect forever home! Willa is a friendly girl with a bit of sass added in just for fun. She's super friendly with people; gets along with cats; and is good with most dogs. Willa does have a tendency to pick on or bully certain dogs that are smaller/weaker than she is, so she will do best either as an only dog or with dogs slightly larger than her. Willa is great in the car and loves to go on adventures and to top it all off she is crate trained! We would prefer Willa to be adopted by a true Yorkie family. Are Yorkies your breed? Then Willa might be your girl!   For more information on adopting, email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org ##1728748##

Story
We've had Sevyn since she was about 4 months. Sevyn is now 4 years old. Sevyn is very energetic and vocal and friendly. Our busy work schedules will not allow us to give her the time and attention that she truly deserves. She is an inside of the home dog. She does have attachment issues and gets very sad every time we leave the house. It's been this way since day 1. We have never let her off of her leash outside of a controlled or gated environment, so we do not recommend that until she is trained enough to do so. She will need an owner who can handle her energy. We also have a female Mini Schnauzer who we will rehome. They really are best friends so we know she gets along at least with other small breed dogs. Her doggy day care reports always reads "life of the party". She is house trained but will sometimes have accidents when in a new space. It would be great if the two could stay together but understand if they can't. If anyone is okay with 2 new babies please let us know :)
