Meet Kaylie, a sweet 7 month old, 4 pound Yorkie girl being fostered in Azle, TX. Kaylie has a Liver Shunt condition which will require surgery. Only Texas applicants will be considered. She came to us from a sister rescue in Ohio with a tentative diagnosis of liver shunt. Our fellow rescue in Ohio got this little girl into the vet and started her on medications that would ease her symptoms. Prior to medication she had started spinning and head pressing and had very little energy for a puppy. UYR's wonderful volunteer flight angel flew overnight to get get this baby from North Carolina to DFW Airport. Foster mom picked up Kaley from DFW and had her into the vet within a couple of days. Our local vet ran more blood work on Kaley and we have more questions. Kaley will be going in for imaging on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Those of you that have followed UYR and our liver shunt babies know this is all very costly. Imaging, surgery, medications can be in excess of $10,000. This little girl is doing better since she started medication but she is not out of the woods yet until we have more answers. Once Kaley has surgery and is on the road to recovery, she will be available for adoption. Kaley is a puppy and needs a home that knows how to work with a puppy that has an enormous amount of energy. Small children will not be appropriate for Kaley. She needs a family that has the resources to have her monitored and cared for by their veterinarian. Irish is our little red head, a 2 year old, 10 lb Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. Breed mix is just our best guess. She came to Humane Tomorrow with several of her relatives from a a bad situation. She was shy and cautious at first but has come around, and now she enjoys playing with toys, playing with the other dogs in her foster home, and being close to and cuddling with her people. Irish is crate trained and potty trained. Irish needs a home with a securely fenced backyard since she is curious about the outside world and can be creative about finding ways to get out and about. Irish is still a bit cautious with new people, but she warms up quickly. If you are interested in Irish, please complete an application, and an adoption counselor will follow up with you.

Yuki is a one year old, 9 lb Yorkie/Chihuahua mix, but breed mix is just our best guess. She had a rough start in life, living in filthy conditions, with very little human contact. She is now in a loving foster home, and she is getting better each day in trusting her foster parents talking care of her. Yuki might be a little shy at first, so adopters will need to be patient and let her settle in at her own pace. She loves being with her 2 foster sibling dogs, but they are much older than her and do not want to play with her. Yuki has a lot of puppy energy and will do best in a home with another playful dog. She may do ok as an only dog as long as she gets lots of exercise and play time. She learned how to use a doggie door at her foster home. She goes in a crate when the foster parents leave the house, but she is not a big fan. She will eventually learn that the crate is her very own room and safe place. At night she wants to be with her foster parents and siblings. She likes to lay in a doggie bed by herself or with one of her foster siblings. Yuki will need time to adapt to her new home and learn about the joy of being a beloved house dog. We think she will be fine with kids over the age of 6.
