Story
Willis is ready to find his forever home! You would never know how rough of a life he had before being rescued because this boy is an absolute love. Willis is the biggest lap dog and absolutely loves to snuggle with his foster family. If he is not snuggling, he is napping on the back of the couch. He is fabulous with dogs, both big and small. He doesn’t play with them, but they are just as great of an option to snuggle up with. He was recently cat tested, and passed with flying colors. Willis is shy when he first meets someone new, but he is won over as soon as he is pet. And you guessed it - he is snuggled up in their arms in no time. Loud noises also tend to frighten him, so his ideal home would be without children. His foster mom says that he is definitely a low energy dog but will get the occasional zoomies in the backyard. He sleeps in bed with his foster parents, snuggled up, just how he likes it. Willis is non-destructive when left alone and doesn’t require a kennel when his foster family leaves the house. Because he went 10 years without being neutered, or potty trained, Willis wears a belly band in the house. However, he keeps it dry most days! His foster family can’t say enough great things about this sweet and gentle boy. As a rescue, we aim to be as transparent as possible when placing dogs for adoption. We will disclose that Willis is completely healthy except for a mild heart murmur. This is a factor of his age and the neglect he faced in his past. Mild heart murmurs are not uncommon in small senior dogs, and he does not need medication for it. He is expected to live a completely normal life, but we always want potential adopters to be aware of things like this. Willis is a mix of 16 different breeds with the top 5 being 29% Miniature Poodle, 25% Yorkie, 12% Chihuahua, 9% Cocker Spaniel, and 4% Dachshund mix. Even though he is mixed with Poodle, he does shed. If you are interested in adding this lovable, mellow senior to your family, please submit an adoption application at www.rescuerowinc.org!

Rescue Row is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) all volunteer dog rescue organization serving the DFW Metroplex. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs.
