Story
Introducing Harvey, the pint-sized pup with a giant heart (and bark!) Warning: This bio may contain excessive levels of cuteness and goofiness. Hey there, potential furever fam! Meet Harvey, a tail-wagging ball of energy trapped in a (relatively) small dog body. Don't let his size fool you, though. His spirit animal is a Great Dane, and he has the loyalty and love to match! Here's what you can expect with Harvey in your life: The ultimate shadow: He may not be able to carry your groceries, but he can become your personal shadow, following you from room to room and offering moral support (and maybe some enthusiastic head nudges for pets). A cuddle monster: Don't be fooled by his feisty side. He also loves to snuggle up on the couch and be showered with affection. Ear scratches are his ultimate weakness – just one scratch and he will turn to mush in your hands! A certified goofball: His playful personality will have you laughing every day. Think of him as your personal clown (with a wagging tail instead of a red nose). A lover, not a loner: While he is independent, he doesn't do as well left alone for long periods. Apartments might not be his jam (thanks to his impressive vocal range), but a house with a yard where he can unleash his powerful voice would be best. Please reach out to info@joyrides.org if you'd like to learn more about adopting Harvey! Harvey is being fostered in Houston, TX and is available locally, within driving distance or out of state. He would come to his new home via professional transport. Age: 10 yrs Weight: 13 lbs Dogs? possibly! depends on the dog so he is happy to chat about it! Cats? no thanks! Kids? unknown Ok for apartment life? probably not

Story
I bought him from a breeder 14 years ago when he was 6 weeks old. He is 14 years old. He is older now and moves slowly, but he still tries to play and run it lasts for about 5 to 10 minutes throughout the day or when he is in the mood. He is delightful and loving but sleeps a lot and I want him to go to a good, loving home that will care for him as he ages. I call him a little old man because he doesn't want to be bothered much, sleep, and play when he feels like it is how he maneuvers. He does have joint issues which happens in small breeds. He is potty trained and has been his whole life but for the last 6 months (since my grandson with autism came to stay with us) he has had accidents in his area. His vision is not what it used to be due to his age (14), he will be 15 in June. He weighs 5.4 pounds, so he is small and doesn't require a lot of space or food. His shots are up to date and Shadow Creek Vet Veterinary Clinic is his vet, I have his current records available.

Story
Wrigley here at your service! I'm a senior guy who likes to be boss applesauce when it comes to bigger dogs. I haven't met many small dogs since coming into the rescue. After being abandoned at a pet store by my former family, I've emotionally recovered and have found true happiness again! I love humans, kids included, and have a solid battery life for fun play despite my many years. I'm kennel trained and do pretty well on the leash, too. If you'd like a mature man, that's me! I'm here accepting applications!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   Update: Falkor has completed his Heartworm treatment and is doing extremely well.  He needs to remain calm for the next two months while the nasty dead heart worms are absorbed by his body. He is a very lovable little guy and would make an excellent companion for an elderly person. He loves nothing more than to be in your lap or nearby.      This baby was picked up by Harris County animal control running intact, and not surprising, he is heartworm positive. We'll get him properly vetted.  First, neuter. Then, HW treatment. This happy playful baby did not deserve to be so neglected.   He needs a home that can help him recover.  We will pay for his treatment and provided all medications.  Can you give him a temporary home (or, if you want to adopt him, FOSTER-to-adopt) His treatment will take 90 days.  during this time, he needs to stay 'low and slow'  crate rest while the heartworms die.  (not literally in a crate, but restricted activity)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 6, 2024, 10:49 pm

Story
BOOSTS YOUR MOOD, MAKES YOU SMILE  Est. DOB 1/7/15, WEIGHT 12.7 lbs. Arf! Arf, everyone! I’m Sammy, a sweet, friendly, quiet, and affectionate white Maltipoo (Maltese/ Mini Poodle mix) fella who is, in my humble opinion, the world’s greatest little dog. I think my foster mom agrees because she loves it that I curl up and settle in her lap whenever I can. There are two resident dogs and a cat in my foster home, but I’m much rather interact with beloved Foster Mom than play with them. I have a comical idiosyncrasy: I like to burrow under anything I can move and get under. You name it – bedcovers, blankets, pillows, throws. Foster Mom thinks it’s adorable that a cute little thing such as I am likes to excavate my own little lair like a mole. Let me tell you a little about Maltipoos. We’re gentle, social dogs who love people. Our happy, cheerful dispositions are guaranteed to boost your mood and make you smile. We can even be good therapy dogs because of the comfort we provide. And I’m no exception to this profile! I really looked like a mess when my foster mom first rescued me! Oh my goodness – I weighed only 10 pounds! You could see every bone on my vertebrae, plus I had no hair on my back. My eyes were practically glued shut with “goop” from an infection; I also had an ear infection; and my mouth was a mess from neglected preventative dentistry. Thank heavens Foster Mom and the vet have transformed me into a new man! With a steady diet of nutritious food, I’ve gained 2.5 pounds, I’m filling out nicely, and my fur is growing back! I’m eating a soft diet that’s appropriate after all of the diseased teeth (that hadn’t already fallen out) have been pulled. I look and feel so much better! And the silver lining about having no teeth is that I don't need any future dental cleanings! Medications have cleared up my original eye and ear infections. The vet also diagnosed that I have a condition called “dry eye,” which means that I don’t produce tears like I should. So Foster Mom puts drops in my eyes twice a day and cleans out any “goop” once to twice a day Thanks to the hair around my eyes being clipped, Foster Mom can clean out my eyes easier. I have cataracts in both eyes so I have very limited visibility and bump into things, but get around once I've learned my way! I generally move slow so I don’t hurt myself ! Even though I sleep a good portion of the day, I am quite aware of sounds and scents. I will sound the alarm at unfamiliar noises. I will track Foster Mom down if she has moved from where I left her using my superior olfactory senses. My ideal home would be one that has a doggie door to a small fenced back yard and someone to keep me company.  I’m so grateful for all the love and attention that I’m getting! In return, I snuggle and cuddle like you wouldn’t believe! I’ve learned how to use the doggie door, and I’m now crate-trained. If you’re looking for a cozy lap dog and can look past my limitations, I’d really like to be your dog! Half of my life is still ahead of me, so let’s spend it together! My heart has so much love to give, all that’s missing is YOU! HOPE ID D22-1129-0031 If you are interested in Sammy and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to:   http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php   . Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. If you have questions prior to filling out the application, email us at  lisagilchrist16@gmail.com  and a volunteer will get back to you.     May 8, 2024, 11:00 pm
