Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   Update: Falkor has completed his Heartworm treatment and is doing extremely well.  He needs to remain calm for the next two months while the nasty dead heart worms are absorbed by his body. He is a very lovable little guy and would make an excellent companion for an elderly person. He loves nothing more than to be in your lap or nearby.      This baby was picked up by Harris County animal control running intact, and not surprising, he is heartworm positive. We'll get him properly vetted.  First, neuter. Then, HW treatment. This happy playful baby did not deserve to be so neglected.   He needs a home that can help him recover.  We will pay for his treatment and provided all medications.  Can you give him a temporary home (or, if you want to adopt him, FOSTER-to-adopt) His treatment will take 90 days.  during this time, he needs to stay 'low and slow'  crate rest while the heartworms die.  (not literally in a crate, but restricted activity)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 21, 2024, 9:45 pm

She still has a ways to go but she is slowly learning to trust humans. When we started she was terrified of her leash, didn’t want to be held or picked up, kept a 10 foot distance from humans, and froze in fear when we went outside for a walk. I’m happy to say she now will stop and let me pick her up and hold her without trying to get away, she gets super excited when it’s time for a walk, I can pet her without her cringing in fear, and she is slowly trusting other humans. She loves dogs and I think they have helped tremendously with her fear and anxiety along with teaching her how to be a dog. She had obviously not experienced being a pet and having good interactions with people. She still has a ways to go but every day she makes new strides. Her ideal home needs to be one with patience and willingness to help her continue to grow and learn to trust. She needs atleast one animal companion to help teach her and ease her anxiety. Having time for walks and attention would be ideal. A calm home with adults or older children only is gonna be best for this girl. She has come a long way with potty training but still needs some work. Mostly when I am away at work for longer periods and this will likely improve as her fear and anxiety decreases. ZsaZsa is the sweetest little girl and fairly quiet. She likes to fetch toys but mostly keep them lol. Watching squirrels in the trees, exploring outside or just laying in the shade are many of her loves. She will make a great companion if you’re willing to give her time and earn her trust.    Ms. Zsa Zsa will become a wonderful little girl once she finds her human and learns to trust again. She is fearful, shy, and reserved at this time. Zsa Zsa will need a lot of one-on-one time to help her grow into the little dog she was meant to become. This girl came in with another little girl.  We agreed to take these girls from a rescue in N. Texas rescue who took them in as a 'breeder dump'.  They have high anxiety and extreme fear. They are not available yet. They need to better adjust before they are adopted. Zsa Zsa is more friendly than Maggie.  However her anxiety has manifested itself in some self -harm.  She scratched herself raw.  We immediately took her to our vet for labs and no medical issue was found.  We gave her a cytopoint injection to help keep her comfortableVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 21, 2024, 9:45 pm

Story
Benji Mason is a really sweet boy once he gets to know you. He's very unsure of new people and places so he will need an understanding, experienced owner. He will growl when he's scared. He was terrified at the animal shelter so was 'rescue only'. Once I got him to my home he took 48 hours to decompress them I was easily able to handle him, take him out, pick him up etc. He's great with all 9 dogs at my house from tiny Yorkies to Standard Poodles. He's timid but seeks attention. He's about 6 years old, neutered, up to date on shots, had a dental and is hw negative and microchipped. Benji loves to follow me around at the barn and feed the animals. He Intersted with the horses, goat and mini horse. He loves his 'chore time' and does well off-leash. Benji's adoption fee is waived to the right home. ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Mylo Eli is a 3 year old, 11 pound terrier who came to Camo from Baytown Animal Shelter. This little guy can be a bit shy of new people and environments at first but once he gets to know you, he really shows his sweet and playful side! Mylo Eli would do best in an adult only home, that is patient with him and allows him to open up at his own pace. Take a chance on this little guy and he is sure to steal your heart, Mylo loves to give kisses and adores head scratches. He also does well with other dogs. Mylo Eli is super sweet, good on a leash, loves toys and fetch, and can even sit! Mylo is fully vetted and ready to find his furever home. Mylo lost an eye in a dog fight. The other dog started it, Mylo wasn't to blame. Mylo is a very sweet, loving dog. He takes time to trust people but when he does, he is quite affectionate. He came to trust me in about 2 weeks. I was his primary caregiver-the person he saw the most and the only constant for him-and we lived in a fairly small apartment. I worked from home some days but would go to the office 2-4 days a week and be away typically for 9 hours. He did very well independently during this time. Initially, I left him in his crate, and eventually, we got to a point where I trusted him to be free in my home and he behaved wonderfully. Mylo loves to play (tug of war, fetch) go on long walks (and runs/sprints), and car rides. He is a good walker, very excited at first but will settle in and stop pulling. He is also good in public places like restaurants, markets, and parks. He does not react to other dogs barking. He shows some curiosity in people and dogs and is generally calm when doing so. Sometimes, with bigger dogs, he will become a bit more erratic. He has learned obedience commands including come, sit, lay down, stay, stand, high-five, and spin. He became very protective of me once he trusted me. This showed up in ways including barking at sounds outside (voices, knocks on doors, etc.), barking at people coming in the door or approaching the door once inside, barking at people when they came close to me or touched me (hug, handshake, etc.), barking at people in public who approached me in some way or were simply near by (servers at restaurants, maintenance men at my apartment), and biting at people if they sat beside me (not always but often enough). These barking and biting tendencies that come from, in my opinion, a protective nature rather than an aggressive nature. The protection was also most often and most passionately displayed against men. He also has guarding tendencies, perhaps rooted in general anxiety. This applies to anything he is actively fixated on. For example, when he is chewing on a toy, eating his food, or has grabbed an object that he should not have (sock on the floor, garbage on the street, etc.). If even the primary caregiver tries to take this object from him, he is likely to bite. Mylo needs an adopter who is calm and patient and can give him a comfortable, loving environment that is conducive for working on easing his anxieties. He is so good-natured and is deserving of a happy, peaceful home but will need some encouragement to trust and relax. Adoption fee is: waived ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Story
Roxie was only 6 weeks old when a senior lady chose her from a litter of puppies. She was a very smart, alert and affectionate puppy and got along well with the lady's older dog. Roxie quickly learned to use an indoor potty pad. She loved to run and play in the lady's big, fenced backyard, and she liked to fetch toys that were thrown. Roxie loved attention and was a great little watch dog. After a couple of years, the senior lady moved into an apartment and began to have some health problems that required her to have surgery. There was no longer a backyard, for energetic Roxie to run and play in. She had to be walked on a leash. The senior lady soon realized this was not the best life for Roxie and asked Emmy's Hope Rescue to find her a new home. Roxie will need a family familiar with and accepting of high energy dogs. She led a sheltered life with only one other dog and not many human visitors. She has a difficult time getting along with other dogs at the Rescue, sometimes being aggressive. Therefore, we recommend that Roxie should probably be an only dog.  Estimated birth date:  October 2019 Approximate weight:  20 lbs. If you would like to meet  Roxie, please call or text Stephanie at:  281-622- 6549. *** ADOPTION CRITERIA *** To qualify to adopt from Emmy's Hope Rescue, YOU MUST HAVE ALL 4 QUALIFIERS: 1. Live in the Houston area (no more than an hour's drive away). 2. Be 21 years or older. 3. Have a fenced yard. Fencing must touch the ground all the way around the yard. 4. We are looking for experienced pet owners. You must have at least 3 years of good vet history, with your current and / or past dogs. Your vet record should show that you take your dog(s) to the vet annually for an exam and to update their Rabies and DHPP (distemper, parvo) vaccinations and heartworm testing, and that you purchase a monthly heartworm preventative.April 14, 2024, 5:43 pm
