Story
Meet Nina! 11-year-young Silky Terrier who clearly missed the memo about slowing down. At a perfectly portable 10 pounds, she’s equal parts snuggle expert and low-key adventure buddy. She’s happiest curled up beside you soaking in cuddles, but she’s always game to join you for a stroll around the block, supervise your gardening efforts, or bravely stand watch while you enjoy a bubble bath (very important security detail). She does well with other dogs, and while she hasn’t personally met kids or cats in her foster home, her easygoing, sweet temperament suggests she’d likely be accepting of both with proper introductions. Health-wise, she’s got it all handled: up to date on vaccines and preventatives, spayed, and heartworm negative. All she’s missing is a cozy forever home and a human to love. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart who knows how to enjoy the good things in life, this Silky girl might be your perfect match. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donate@yorkierescuehouston.org or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   This beautiful boy was surrendered when the family could no longer care for him.  Our vet staff said he was good for his exam and vaccines, but got a bit 'bitey' on his nail-trim and fecal. Some boys just don't want ya messin with they stuff! Benji is friendly and loving.  We have another male dog here that does not like him, but that's NOT Benji's fault.   He gets along with all the other dogs just fine!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 9:08 am

Birkin is reported to have had seizures.  He has not had any in our care yet, and our vet doesn't want to start him on meds until we have a better understanding of their triggers (if any) and severity.  His labs were pretty good, with only the T4 being out of range.  We have authorized a thyroid panel for insight. Birkin likes toys and will play fetch and enjoys short walks. Birkin is looking for his forever home.  A home that, will never abandon him or decide he not important!  There is a possibility that seizure prevention meds may be in his future.  We just don't know yet. So, if that's a deal breaker for you, do not apply.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 9:08 am

Since being in our program, she has learned how to play with other dogs and entertain herself with toys. She still loves attention, but does not 'suffer' without it. We would love to find Cinny a home with another young SMALL dog who loves to play.  She still doesn't have potty training down yet.  She does NOT like to sleep alone and prefers to go to bed with her people.  (in a diaper, please!)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 12, 2026, 7:55 pm

He is just a bundle of happiness and love.  He's such a joy.  He is not housetrained, but a simple 'belly band' will make that a 'non-issue' He is a lap lover and just wants a cuddle buddy.  NO SMALL CHILDREN! NO BIG DOGS!  this boy is tiny and fragile.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 1:53 pm

Story
We adopted Spike in 2018 in Maryland and at that time he was around 2 years old. He made the move with my family to Texas in 2024 and we have since started a family. We now have a 7 month old baby who is becoming mobile and spends a lot of time on the floor. Unfortunately in the last year Spike has had trouble controlling his bladder. My wife works from home and is studying for the Texas BAR and I work 12-14 hours a day. We currently do not have the time to dedicate to caring for the dog and cleaning up accidents. He remains active and loves chasing animals around the yard. He also loves relaxing on the couch on a lazy Sunday. It pains me to get rid of him but we simply can’t keep up anymore.
