Story
Introducing Harvey, the pint-sized pup with a giant heart (and bark!) Warning: This bio may contain excessive levels of cuteness and goofiness. Hey there, potential furever fam! Meet Harvey, a tail-wagging ball of energy trapped in a (relatively) small dog body. Don't let his size fool you, though. His spirit animal is a Great Dane, and he has the loyalty and love to match! Here's what you can expect with Harvey in your life: The ultimate shadow: He may not be able to carry your groceries, but he can become your personal shadow, following you from room to room and offering moral support (and maybe some enthusiastic head nudges for pets). A cuddle monster: Don't be fooled by his feisty side. He also loves to snuggle up on the couch and be showered with affection. Ear scratches are his ultimate weakness – just one scratch and he will turn to mush in your hands! A certified goofball: His playful personality will have you laughing every day. Think of him as your personal clown (with a wagging tail instead of a red nose). A lover, not a loner: While he is independent, he doesn't do as well left alone for long periods. Apartments might not be his jam (thanks to his impressive vocal range), but a house with a yard where he can unleash his powerful voice would be best. Please reach out to info@joyrides.org if you'd like to learn more about adopting Harvey! Harvey is being fostered in Houston, TX and is available locally, within driving distance or out of state. He would come to his new home via professional transport. Age: 10 yrs Weight: 13 lbs Dogs? possibly! depends on the dog so he is happy to chat about it! Cats? no thanks! Kids? unknown Ok for apartment life? probably not

Story
Greetings! The name's Happy and I think it really suits me well. My story of how I got to K9AR isn't as happy though, as my favorite person in the whole wide world passed away suddenly, so K9AR was entrusted into finding me another happy ending with hopefully a new favorite person or family. Since my person worked from home, I'm not used to being alone so someone who works from home or is home during the day would be perfect for me! My perky ears, perpetually wagging tail, and soulful brown eyes are sure to reel you in. I like taking long naps on couches, preferably in the same room as my family. I walk very nicely on the leash and I know to handle all of my bathroom business outside the house. I'm very friendly with my foster dog roommate and the younger kids I am staying with. My bark sounds a bit like a quack, and I am eager to let you know when someone is at the door or when I need your attention. If you've got room in your home for a little fellow like me, I can easily become your indispensable companion. Happy is a Male Yorkie/Chihuahua Mix (Chorkie) that we estimate to be born around 4/14/2015 and weighs 7.6 lbs.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston.  Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system.  To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters.   Our adoption fee varies by dog.  We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.       Hi, I am Trudy….I’d like to tell you about myself so you can really fall in love with me!  I am a bit of a loaner, until I’m not.  I spend most of the day happily by myself, but if my foster mom sits down for even a moment I like to remind her how much I love her by letting her pet me.  Sometimes she tries to stop, but I take her hand and put it back in pet position until I think I have given her just the right amount of affection.  Also, at night we watch TV on her bed with my foster dad (he is a sucker for my affection) and my foster sister (we mostly just ignore each other unless it is time for dinner, then we band together to let the humans know).  When the clock hits 9:00pm my body tells me it is bed time. I am such a good girl, I climb and put myself to bed so quiet sometimes they don’t even know I am gone for a while.  Then when the clocks turns 7am I climb back on the bed to let everyone know it is time to wake up (mostly because I can’t open the back door by myself and it is my potty time).  I am certain that if I didn’t let the humans know at exactly 9:00am that it was breakfast time they would for sure forget to feed us!  My foster mom says if I was human I would be an engineer because I am quirky and like to stay on a routine just like my foster dad.  I will also take you on daily walks, but I will let you decide what time we go on those, as long as it is between 4pm & 6pm (Totally flexible).  I am able to stay on my routine because the only time I bark is when it is time for the humans to take care of me so they know If I bark I mean business….they just have to look at the clock and they figure out what the bark means, it is very effective!  I leave all the barking at the mailman, delivery people, wind, etc to my foster sister, it pretty annoying if you ask me (or anyone else)!   I forgot to tell you, last week these two tiny human boys came over to visit for 4 days.  The big one (4) played with me and I liked it.  The little one that can stand on two feet, but walks better on 4 (he may be part dog) tried to play with me, but I just ignored him until he went away.  My mom said that I was such a good girl and I could teach my foster sister some manners, but I’d rather just ignore her too. Th last thing you should know because my mom says it is super cute and who doesn’t like a cute Yorkie is that my tongue hangs out of my mouth 95 percent of the time and I prefer to eat off of a plate rather than a bowl.  My mom says it isn’t my fault my tongue is just too long for my mouth and it makes me cute and unique.  The bowl thing is just my preference so I have my own special silicone plate I get to use! I really like it here at my foster home, but I would really like to have a human to cater to me, I mean love me as much as I will love them!!!   Trudy takes daily medication called incurin that just gets put in her food in the morning.  this is said to help with hormone caused incontinence.   She is also on daily eye drops.  Trudy received a full workup including a 'senior panel' upon her RE-Intake. We believe she may have some peripheral vision loss in one eye. **************************************************************  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 14, 2024, 9:52 pm

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.     My name is Radar. FM says I am a very handsome and good boy. I am afraid at first but with time and patience I learn to trust and when I trust my person, I am yours forever. I am doing great with house training. I will do best with someone who can be patient with me and not fuss at me. That scares me bad, since my last home wasn’t very nice. I would like to have other doggies to play with. Preferably young ones that I can play with. I have lots of energy. I will need a backyard because I don’t like leashes too much. (We are working on that) I will make a great dog if someone would give me the chance. This boy came from a BYB hoarder.  He's learned so much in his foster home.  He's a great family pet.  He loves  to play with the other dogs and loves toys.  He sleeps in the bed with his foster mom, and would love to snuggle with you. Radar is fully vetted and ready for his forever family. He likes toys!!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 14, 2024, 9:52 pm

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   Update: Falkor has completed his Heartworm treatment and is doing extremely well.  He needs to remain calm for the next two months while the nasty dead heart worms are absorbed by his body. He is a very lovable little guy and would make an excellent companion for an elderly person. He loves nothing more than to be in your lap or nearby.      This baby was picked up by Harris County animal control running intact, and not surprising, he is heartworm positive. We'll get him properly vetted.  First, neuter. Then, HW treatment. This happy playful baby did not deserve to be so neglected.   He needs a home that can help him recover.  We will pay for his treatment and provided all medications.  Can you give him a temporary home (or, if you want to adopt him, FOSTER-to-adopt) His treatment will take 90 days.  during this time, he needs to stay 'low and slow'  crate rest while the heartworms die.  (not literally in a crate, but restricted activity)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 14, 2024, 9:52 pm
