I am a Homeward Bound Alumni, through no fault of my own, my 1st adopters had me for 3yrs and had to bring me back after some major life changes. I waited a long time and then found an amazing man named Jim, we had a wonderful 5 months together, but Jim's health took a turn and he could no longer safely care for me, we were both heartbroken. I am waiting for a wonderful person to come along, I do like to wander so a fenced yard is a must, I love kids (over the age of 10yrs) and am very good with them, I am a big, sweet, goofy boy and love to wander around the yard with you, maybe while you do your yard work. Akita, American Pit Bull Terrier Mix and I'm a sweet and active girl with a big personality, a love for adventure, and a serious appreciation for attention from my humans. I may take a little time to settle into new situations and get fully comfortable, but I’m confident, social, and curious as I get to know my environment and the people in it. Once I’m in my groove, my affectionate side really shines. I love being with my people, getting attention, and sharing space with those I trust. I’m the kind of dog who enjoys being part of the action, whether that’s hanging out with you or heading out for a walk or adventure. I do well with other dogs as long as they respect my space and play style. I enjoy social time, but I also appreciate polite boundaries and calm interactions. I am not a match for homes with cats. I do resource guard around my food with people, so I need a home that understands structure and management during mealtimes. Because of this, I would do best with children 12 and up who can respect my space and understand that I need to be left alone when I am eating. Clear boundaries help me succeed and feel secure. Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! NOT!! I am a snuggle bug looking for tummy scratches....I willl MELT for one!! Here is what one of our amazing fosters have to say about Dakota...."Super freaking sweet, loves loves belly rubs, is very strong when you walk him but listens well. VERY treat motivated and knows sit down paw and i just taught him roll over yesterday but its a work in progress 😝. Super playful, he will pounce around you and then roll over for belly rubs and absolutely melts for the belly rubs and kisses" I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. MEET ADORABLE PATCH! Patch is a 2-1/2-year-old husky mix in need of a foster or forever home. He is currently in Washington, but can be transported to Oregon. Patch is the type of dog who loves his person or his people. He would do great with someone who loves to go for walks, hikes and other outings. Patch was originally rescued from a California high-kill shelter in the nick of time, and he's currently in a temporary foster home through the end of July. Patch is affectionate and will give kisses once he gets to know you. He loves treats and food in general. He also enjoy human attention and affection, and hanging out! He's very playful as well and loves his toys. Patch has done well with some dogs, though he'd truly thrive as an only with a person or people to love him and be his world. MEET BASS & TENOR! This happy and loving duo has waited much too long for a home but we can't split them up. They are a loving, fun pair of playful dogs who need a foster or forever home! They are very affectionate toward people, and love, love, love each other. They are likely brothers, who found themselves at a crowded California shelter with no adoption interest. Fortunately they were rescued but still haven't found a home yet. They must be adopted together as they are extremely bonded. Both are almost 8 years old. Bass, the brown-and-white pup, weighs only 55 lbs., and Tenor (tan and white) weighs about 60 lbs. They are fun, active pups who love to run, play and snuggle with each other. They would love to be adopted by someone who could take them on hikes, walks and other outings. They currently play with each other for entertainment but it'd be great for them to branch out and see the world. Bass & Tenor love to jump up and give kisses. They are not super friendly with other dogs, so should be the only dogs in the home - but they have plenty of love to give and will be grateful to whomever adopts them.
