Story
Meet Akira! This malamute mix came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after her previous guardians were unable to continue caring for her. Her previous guardians described her as patient, obedient and friendly. She lived primarily outdoors in her previous home and may benefit from a home where she has access to the outdoors regularly as she prefers to lounge outside. Akira is a smart cookie and would enjoy continuing to bond with a guardian through positive reinforcement based training. She already knows “sit”, “give me a hug”, and “give me 5” so she is off to a good start. Akira enjoys going for walks and, despite being a middle aged gal, is still strong on leash. An active adopter that will take her out on adventures would be a great fit for this gal. Akira has some fears of small dogs and has not previously lived with any dogs. Akira has met dogs at the Shelter and communicates to them when she does not want to interact. A quieter home as the only dog would be the best fit for Akira. High traffic dog areas (such as West Cliff or It’s Beach) is not the best fit for this gal as she doesn’t want to comingle with other pups. Akira enjoys playing with toys – particularly squeaky toys. If you are looking for a sidekick who is more of a canine introvert – come meet Akira today!

Story
&#226&#156&#168 Hey there, I'm Oso, the big fluffy snuggly Bear! My journey began as an Alaskan Malamute when I was 3 years old, weighing around 88lbs. I find immense joy in receiving head and chest scratches, playing with tennis balls, chewing on beef bones, and going on rides, walks, and runs. ‍&#226&#153&#128&#239&#184&#143 Exploring trails is also one of my favorite activities! While I walk decently on a leash, I suggest using a chest harness for optimal comfort. I'm fully crate and house trained, and attending training classes would be a fantastic opportunity for us to connect and bond. Despite being 3 years ouold, I have plenty of love and knowledge to share about my breed. If you're a water enthusiast, you're in for a treat because I absolutely adore lakes, oceans, rivers, snow, and even the slip and slide! Story
Maui here! Do you feel the love in a rescue dog searching for a forever home? I'm a 12-month-old neutered Alaskan Malamute with German Shepherd mix, sporting a tri-color coat of black, brown, and white with deep brown eyes. I'm an all-around package - loving everyone and every dog, medium to large, but unsure about small dogs and cats. I enjoy playing with sticks, tennis balls, bones, Kong toys, and more. I also love dipping my feet in the pool when it's hot or cool. Water is my element - whether it's the ocean, river, or lake, put me on a 15' leash and watch me surf the waves. I adore sleeping with you, cuddling, and snuggling. I'm gentle, calm, and great with children. Leash, house, and crate trained, I just need someone to give me love and care. Look into my deep brown eyes and fall in love with me!
