Thor is appx 5 to 6 yrs old, Alaskan Malamute! He was one of the 10+ pups that was rescued from the meat market in Wenshan about 3 yrs ago. He's very sweet, friendly and loves everyone! He does well with other dogs but he would try to be the dominant in the pack in the beginning, and he needs an owner that will be able to tell him no and be strict with him so he can learn quickly! I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog G:4Oban – Calm, Independent, and Easygoing Oban is a 12-year-old Alaskan Malamute mix weighing 84 pounds. This sweet senior has a calm, independent personality and is wonderfully easy to handle. Easygoing on walks: Oban walks nicely on leash, with only occasional moderate pulling, enjoying leisurely walks and sniffing. Calm and independent: Oban is content doing his own thing. After some time sniffing around the yard, he happily settles and chills. He doesn’t seek out pets nor constant attention, but he remains calm and pleasant in his surroundings. Curious about the world: Oban sometimes takes an interest in people and dogs passing by, quietly observing what’s happening around him. Patient and tolerant: Oban showed an impressive amount of patience during a two-hour bath and brushing session, taking the experience in stride. Oban would be a great fit for someone who appreciates a calm, independent senior companion. He was originally born right here in our rescue and named Austin, but he was adopted out as a puppy to a family who loved him. Sadly, a year later, his family's circumstances changed and they were no longer able to care for him, bringing him back into our rescue family. Scratch has grown into a beautiful, loyal, and energetic young dog who is ready for a fresh start. He combines the sharp intelligence of a German Shepherd with the playful, adventurous spirit of a Malamute. Because he is just a year old, he still has plenty of that fun puppy energy and a big curiosity about the world around him. He is highly food-motivated, eager to learn, and ready to bond deeply with a handler who can guide his teenage energy. His ideal home is an active one that can provide him with the daily physical exercise and mental stimulation he craves. A kind person saved him when he was left in a box at a parking lot. From an accidental litter due to parents not being sp/n. They work full time and contacted us to take him in. He got his first vet care and now learning at his foster home and puppy trainer. Cutie Robin size of Malamute is very sweet friendly and loves playing with other pups. Doing great and cuddly. Robin loves to follow his person around. He is enjoying his healthy foods and treats. Need husky experienced guardian and home with fenced yard. We have tried different high quality and holistic foods (kibble and can) but he has a sensitive GI and got loose stools. He had a stool sample test and negative. He does best eating Raw diet mix or food with no wheat or legume. No runny stools when he eats raw diet. Update: Robin is now eating freeze dried raw and trying different foods. He has gone to training classes and great with everyone. Lovable. Great with other nice dogs. Robin loves going out for hikes and long walks.August 24, 2026, 12:28 am

My name is Nike and I am a spayed female, black and white Akita and Siberian Husky. The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 10-months old. I have been at the shelter since January 15, 2026 Meet Nike, the Akita Siberian Husky Mix! Nike arrived at the Shelter by no fault of her own – her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. Nike has been described as energetic and friendly with people. She enjoys going for walks and runs. She’s lived with children ages 5, 8 and 9 years of age as well as teenagers and did well with them. She was crated when left alone for a few hours and was eager to reconnect with her family when they came home. Nike is a smart cookie and comes with a whole vocabulary of things she knows including: “sit”, “lay down”, “high five”, “shake”, “wait”, “slow down”, and “come here”. She would love to work her brain with her new family (and bond through positive reinforcement based training. Nike enjoys riding in the car on her way to adventures. She can be selective in her dog friends (liking some but not others) so if there are any resident dogs in the home, it would be recommended they meet prior to adoption. Nike's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. Jabulani, lovingly nicknamed Jabu for short, is a sweet girl looking to affectionately nuzzle her way into your heart! This precious girl absolutely adores being in the company of her human companions. She greets everyone she meets with a curly tailed tail wag and lots of slobbery kisses. She also makes sure to show off her agile spins and funny vocalizations to wow her new friends. She is an energetic and active pup that would love to go for long walks, spend some time playing fetch in the yard, training using positive reinforcement methods, and enjoying a nice food puzzle. Jabu is also a gold medalist at tug-of-war and an expert in squeeky toys. Jabu really loves her people and can be heard whining and complaining when left at home alone. With some support from our behavior team you should be able to work through her very mild separation anxiety.Overall, Jabu is a smart and bouncy girl, spinning around when she gets excited and even loves exploring the beach and dipping her paws in the ocean with her humans. Hello! We are reaching out in hopes of finding homes for two wonderful Akitas, Nikita and Goku, who are currently at the Hesperia Animal Shelter and will both be deadlined next week due to space restrictions. Nikita is a beautiful 3-year-old intact female Akita who has been at the shelter since mid-July. She is an incredibly sweet girl who is dog tolerant, completely potty trained, and keeps her kennel clean. She looks forward to her daily outings to the play yard and truly comes alive when she is able to get outside and spend time away from her kennel. Unfortunately, her extended shelter stay is beginning to take a toll on her, and she is becoming increasingly depressed in the kennel environment. Goku is an approximately 3-year-old male Akita and is truly the sweetest boy. He appears to be dog friendly, loves playing with toys, and walks well on a leash. He is affectionate, easy to spend time with, and would make a wonderful companion for the right home. Although Goku and Nikita did not come into the shelter together, they look so similar that they could almost be related. Our shelter is currently at full capacity, and unfortunately both Nikita and Goku are expected to receive deadlines next week due to the continued need for kennel space. We desperately want to see these two wonderful dogs get the opportunity they deserve.
