Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:11Meet Panda, a 6-year-old, 58-pound Akita mix, instantly recognizable by her beautiful white coat and striking panda-like mask. With her soft eyes and serene presence, Panda brings a calm, steady energy. Polite and easygoing: Panda walks well on leash, only pulling moderately when something especially interesting catches her attention. Well-mannered: She may jump a little and wiggle when excited, but sits automatically for treats or when being leashed and responds beautifully to “sit” and sometimes “down.” Affiliative and gentle: This sweet girl enjoys neck scritches and soft pets, sitting calmly with a loose, relaxed posture and soft gaze. Responsive and engaging: She’ll come over to sniff and check in with her person, always ready for quiet connection and gentle praise. Calm and balanced: Panda’s mellow, affiliative nature makes her a joy to be around and easy to handle. Whether she’s exploring on leash or leaning in for affection, Panda exudes warmth and quiet confidence. She would thrive in a home with well-matched canine companions or as the cherished solo dog, enjoying the company of friendly dog pals on her own terms.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Dogwise Show | Shelter Dogs (@dogwiseshow)  November 3, 2025, 1:47 pm

Story
Courage is probably the only character trait our sweet Lae’zel shares with the video game fighter of the same name. This terrier heart-warmer is brave beyond measure, but she’s a gentle heroine who navigates the world in kindness. In need of TLC after an exhausting stint as a stray, she’s made fast friends of the humans and dogs at Muttville, enjoying long naps, plenty of affection, and enough healthy food to begin adding some weight. If you seek purpose and kinship in your life and have plenty compassion to spare, we have a velvety-soft companion to recommend. Come say hi. She’s the smiling beacon of tenderness with a slight wobble in her walk.

Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Story
Meet Emi Emi’s sleek, brindle coat is a thing of beauty and so magnificent to behold. Engaging, charismatic, gregarious, and spirited are the first things you sense about her from the moment she enters a room. Emi exudes a brand of joy that makes her impossible to resist! Not until you witness her graceful elegance and see a bit of frost around her muzzle, do you realize she is a senior beauty with an abundance of life experiences to share. She’s 8 yrs old and has found herself homeless, but she’s seen enough in life to know there’s still a wonderous journey ahead. She is a lover of people and she’d much rather be enjoying a fun adventure with you by her side on interesting walks or trips to the beach, than be left at home alone. She needs to be an only dog and is not suitable with cats. She is approximately 60 lbs. and seems unaware she has some arthritis and hip dysplasia. But as you can see, she enjoys playing with her toys and doing tricks for treats. Her healthy curiosity keeps her engaged in life’s adventures, though she also loves her beauty naps. Please don’t let her age deter you from considering giving her a home. Her heart is overflowing with love. If you are interested in Emi, please complete our adoption application in the link below. Shadow Nose's Story Meet Shadow Nose: Your Future Best Friend! 💖

Hi there! My name is Shadow Nose and I’ve been waiting patiently for the perfect person to bring me into their family. Could that be you?

I’m a 4-year-old, 53-pound, Akita German Shepherd Mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging! My foster family says I’m incredibly sweet, affectionate, and well-adjusted with just the right amount of energy to keep you smiling every day.
Here’s a video to help you get to know me better: https://youtu.be/lvdhggj4fPo
🩺 My Special Needs
I have been diagnosed with mega-esophagus, a condition that means my throat is oversized and I need a little extra care when eating. But don’t worry — it’s super manageable! My foster family and veterinarian have created an easy routine that keeps me happy and healthy. I even have a fancy custom feeding station (built just for me!) where I eat and drink comfortably.

🐾 Why You’ll Love Me
From my captivating smile to my playful spirit, I’m the kind of dog who lights up a room.
I’m:
- Affectionate: I’ll happily cuddle up with you after a fun day.
- Energetic and playful: I love tossing my toys around and trying my best at fetch!
- Learning to have good canine manner
- I’m crate trained, know how to use a doggy door and can be left home alone without any issues.

 🌟 A Star Companion
I’m great with adults, strangers and kids and I even love car rides! One of my previous fosters took me to the Veteran’s hospital, where I brought smiles to everyone’s faces. At home, I’m bouncy and playful, but I also know how to wind down with a cozy nap in my dog bed.

🐕 My Ideal Home
I’d love to be your one-and-only furry friend, but with the right introductions, I might get along with another dog. I have "bossy" tendencies! I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I’d feel about them. My moderate energy level makes me a great fit for most homes and I promise to fill yours with love and laughter.

💖 Let’s Make It Happen!
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion, I’m your girl. I’ll warm your heart with my adorable smile and keep you entertained with my goofy antics. Check out my video of me tossing my toys around — you’ll see how much fun we could have together!

Don’t let my special needs hold you back—I’m one of a kind and ready to join your family. I can’t wait to meet you!
