A Curious, Playful Cuddle-Bug!Breed: Bulldog Mix Age: ~8 months Weight: 40 lbs Neutered: Yes Don’t be fooled by his Resting Bully Face – Tango is all sunshine and snuggles on the inside! This handsome pup is pure joy wrapped in a wiggly body and a tail that never stops wagging. Tango is a fun-loving, affectionate, and endlessly sweet young pup who turns ordinary days into tail-wagging adventures. Jumping up? He’s working on it—he just gets so excited to see you! The good news? Tango is eager to please and super trainable. Tango’s Ideal Home: Active individuals or families ready for fun A yard is a bonus, but not required Committed to training and exercise Kids? Yes! Wick is a 90+ pound sweetheart with a big heart and an even bigger need for love. Loyal, affectionate, and gentle, he has all the makings of a perfect companion. But right now, shelter life is taking a toll. The noise, constant activity, and lack of routine are overwhelming for him—it’s clear he belongs in a home, not a kennel. What Wick truly needs is a calm, loving environment where he can exhale, feel safe, and return to being the happy, trusting dog we know he is. Even in the midst of his stress, Wick seeks out affection and leans into human connection. He enjoys quiet walks, soft beds, and simply being near his people.Wick is house-trained, neutered, and knows his basic commands. He gets along with some other dogs and would thrive with patient, experienced adopters who understand large-breed dogs and can give him time to settle in.He doesn’t need much—just stability, kindness, and a little room to stretch out. In return, Wick will offer you quiet companionship, unwavering loyalty, and a heart full of gratitude. Please consider opening your home to Wick—whether through adoption or foster. Helping him leave the shelter could be life-changing—for both of you. ??

Story
Howdy partner! The name's Cowboy and I'm a neutered, 1 and a half year old, American Bulldog mix. I'm a big boy, weighing in at about 72lbs. I'm a young and energetic pup that can be a bit of a bucking bronco when I get excited. I'm hoping for a family that is familiar with bully boys that will see me and think, 'this isn't my first rodeo.' Don't worry, I promise I have more in common with Ferdinand the Bull than I do with the real ones. I'd like to be a respectable gentleman so training is a must! I'd like to meet the entire household, including any resident dogs, prior to joining your family. For more information about me, must ask Customer Service about Cowboy! Thank you kindly! Cowboy ID# A959238Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.June 16, 2025, 2:30 pm

AVAILABLE BY APPOINTMENT! Hello! My name is Benny and I'm a 2-year-old, neutered, American Bully mix that currently weighs about 70lbs. I'm a big boy that's also sweet and loveable. My friends here at PHS say I'm the perfect balance between a cuddly teddy bear and a playful pup that's ready to wrestle! When it comes to toys, tennis balls and stuffies are my absolute favorite! I'm still learning how to share them so I'm hoping for a family of teens and adults that is prepared to continue my training. If you have bully breed experience, that's even better! I love meeting new two and four-legged friends so please bring in the entire household, including any resident dogs to meet with me! For more information about me, just ask Customer Service about Benny ID# A960266 Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by submitting your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to adoptinquire@peninsulahumanesociety.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. Story
Hi there! My name is Goku and I'm a 1-year-old, neutered American Bulldog, Pitbull mix that currently weighs about 67lbs. Yes, I'm named after an anime character and if you've seen the show, our personalities are similar. My friends here at PHS say I'm a lovable goofball! I'm a big boy that is still working on my manners so I'd prefer a new family that is prepared to help me with my social skills and learning to share. I can be a little boisterous but it's all coming from a place of love. I just get so excited to see my favorite people! Because of this, I prefer to play with older children. Once I've had a chance to get my wiggles out, I'm an affectionate gentleman that enjoys brushing. I don't have long locks but it still feels lovely! If I sound like the perfect companion and you're looking to add a little Saiyan into your life, just ask Customer Service about Goku ID# A955323 I recently spent time with a PHS volunteer! Here's how I did: I took Goku on a 3-hour offsite adventure! He greeted me with lots of excitement and wiggly energy, and in his enthusiasm. We started with a short walk along Rollins before heading to my car. Goku explored but hesitated to get into the back seat until I tossed a treat inside—he jumped right in after it. He rode calmly in the car, clearly enjoying all the smells along the way. During our walk, Goku encountered several loud and potentially startling situations: a concrete mixer truck making a delivery, a recycling truck lifting and setting down a bin, and a residential remodel with power tools and hammers banging away. He walked past all these loud noises in a calm and composed manner. Goku was wonderful with all the people we passed but remained consistently excitable around other dogs. Once we arrived at my house, I let him off leash and he immediately found a ball, starting a game of fetch. He soon discovered the backyard and got the zoomies, running back and forth the side of the house. I redirected him to the water bowl, then asked him for a “sit,” followed by “airplane” and a brief “stay.” This helped him settle, and we went inside to relax on the couch. Goku sprawled out, showed me his belly, and later we moved to the bed, where he continued to relax. After a while, we went for another walk, passing a tennis summer camp. Goku did great, ignoring the tennis balls scattered around. When it was time to head back, Goku jumped into the car without hesitation. I returned him to his dorm room, where he transformed into a giant lap dog. Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
So, you`re looking for a dog? Well... meet Bubbie, he is a dog! A dog`s dog, one could say. Bubbie is a man of many names, and few words. We call him Bubbie, Bubba, Bubbies, Teddy, or Theodore, but landed on Bubbie for his official title. We anticipate Bubbie would do well in a variety of homes, although a feline-free home is required. In his previous home, Bubbie lived with a playful, active labrador retreiver and did well, and respected the space of a more senior yellow lab, too. At the shelter, Bubbie solicted play during his dog introductions and was respectful when his advances were declined. Bubbie`s tricks include `sit`... we told you he is a man of few words. Bubbie was reported to be house-trained and crate-trained in his previous home, and does best when left alone for only short periods of time. Bubbie likes any toy, any treat, and any person. He has experience living with horses, goats, a donkey, and (contained) chickens. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
