Rescued from a shelter alongside his sister Halo, Skyler is believed to have spent much of his early life in a backyard without much exposure to the outside world. Because of that, he arrived timid and unsure— but every day, he’s showing just how much he’s ready to grow, learn, and trust. A Day in Skyler’s World Skyler starts his day around 6:30am with a short walk around the block to go potty. Mornings are still a little overwhelming, so these walks are brief and gentle, giving him time to adjust to the sounds and sights of the neighborhood. Afterward, he relaxes at home before joining in on a sweet daily routine— walking to the bus stop to see the kids off. Throughout the day, Skyler stays close to his people, happily resting indoors or venturing out to the side porch, where he’s recently discovered that fresh air, birds, and quiet moments can actually be enjoyable. His walks happen in small bursts throughout the day, helping him slowly build confidence. By evening, he’s ready to wind down, and around 9:30pm, he’ll quietly head into his crate in the bedroom on his own, settling in for the night. Personality: A Gentle Soul with a Playful Side Skyler may have started off shy, but once he feels safe, his true puppy personality shines through. He’s playful, curious, and wonderfully silly— often tripping over his own feet in true Boxer fashion. He enjoys toys, games, and interacting with his people, especially once he knows them. He loves curling up on a lap for quiet time and companionship. He’s affectionate in a soft, growing way— learning that closeness is something to enjoy. Skyler is also incredibly eager to please. He’s already started learning basic commands like “sit” and “down,” and with consistency and encouragement, he’s going to blossom into a very well-mannered dog. Building Confidence Outdoors The outside world is still new and sometimes scary for Skyler. Walks are a work in progress— he doesn’t pull, but he can be hesitant, especially around noises, people, or unfamiliar situations. When unsure, he’ll often turn toward home or look to his person for reassurance. The good news is that he’s already improving. With patience, positive reinforcement, and continued exposure, Skyler is gaining confidence bit by bit. He’s even started showing glimpses of joy outdoors, like occasional zoomies in the yard when he feels safe. Home Life & Habits Skyler is mostly potty trained, especially with a consistent schedule. He’s still learning how to signal when he needs to go out, so frequent potty breaks help him succeed. He’s comfortable using potty pads if needed. His crate is his safe space— he sleeps there at night and will retreat to it when he feels overwhelmed. While he’s still getting used to it, he has shown that he can rest calmly in his crate when needed. Like many puppies, Skyler enjoys chewing on toys— and occasionally testing his luck with shoes or socks if they’re within reach. It’s all part of his playful, curious nature. Energy & Play Style Skyler has that classic puppy rhythm: short bursts of playful energy followed by long naps. He’s not overly high-energy right now, but as his confidence grows, so might his activity level. He loves playing with toys, running around the yard, and engaging with his people. And his clumsiness? It’s part of his charm. Watching him tumble and recover mid-zoomie is guaranteed to make you smile. Why Skyler is So Special Skyler is truly a diamond in the rough. Beneath his initial shyness is a sweet, loving, and playful puppy who wants nothing more than to connect and belong. He’s already come so far in a short time, and with the right home, there’s no doubt he’ll grow into a confident, happy, and loyal companion. A Favorite Thing About Skyler It’s impossible not to fall in love with Skyler’s “boxer-ness”— his clumsy zoomies, his expressive looks, his playful antics, and the way he tries so hard to figure things out. Watching him discover that the world can be fun—not scary—is something really special. And being the person who helps him get there? That’s the real reward. Skyler is ready for his next chapter— one filled with patience, encouragement, and lots of love.May 2, 2026, 6:49 pm
