Attention, this is your Captain speaking! Captain Willie to be specific. I’m a 3-year-old American Bulldog and a very big boy at about 110 pounds. I know I look intimidating at first glance, but I promise I’m just a giant love wrapped in muscles. I’m fun-loving, goofy, and everyone’s favorite dog the moment they meet me. In my mind, I’m still a tiny lap dog… even if reality says otherwise. I am incredibly affectionate and absolutely live for hugs, cuddles, and quality time with my people. I’m a total couch potato and will happily plop myself right on top of you if given the chance. If you sit down, I will assume it’s an invitation to climb into your lap and soak up all the love you’re offering. Because of my size and strength, I need a confident handler — I’m very strong on leash and could easily knock over a small child without meaning to, so I wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with young kids. What I really need is someone who can handle my strength and appreciates a big, affectionate, loving dog who just wants to be close. If you’ve got a big couch, strong arms, and a lot of love to give, I’d love to be part of your family! Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources.
