Holly is a happy, loving senior that just wants a soft bed and regular meals. She is carrying a few extra pounds and needs an exercise program to help her lose a bit of weight. Her person had to go into hospice, so Holly finds herself looking for a new family. She is very easygoing and is most happy just being near her people, lounging around. My name is Bloom! I’m about 1 year old and weigh 50 pounds. I am very gentle, love meeting new people and will happily cuddle all day especially if there are tummy rubs involved. My favorite place to sit is wherever my human is sitting and I’m happy to keep your place warm while you run to the fridge. I do well with other dogs however if they are mean and bark at me first, I will eventually bark back. Life’s too short for haters! I’ve seen lots of birds, cats, bunnies, squirrels and deer in my life and although I wanted to check out the deer, I wasn’t very interested in the others. When I get really happy, I will smile. To be honest, it’s still a work in progress and looks a little funny but I think it’s important to offer my human positive feedback when they get something right.I’ve been working very hard on potty training. Now that my life has settled down, I am doing pretty well in that department. I don’t love getting baths but, in general, I trust that my human is doing the right thing for me and will quietly stand there until we’re all clean. I’ve also learned that getting dried with a towel includes tummy rubs so I’ll put up with the washing part. I’m starting to learn some commands but still have a lot of potential. I think I understand what “no” means but sometimes reserve the right to ignore it based on the situation. I let my human know how much I love them all the time and would love to have a forever family to love me back. I look forward to the chance to see and sniff you in person!

PERSONALITY : It's hard to believe that Lala hasn't been snapped up as yet. She's smart and loves everyone she meets. This energetic girl loves fresh veggies, fruit, ice cubes and a vigorous "butt scratch." Have you ever had that friend or relative that overstays their welcome? You know you have. Do not despair as there is a solution. Lala definitely has the bulldog "toots" that are guaranteed to clear out a room (or unwanted guests). Just remember to "breathe through your mouth". :) If you're looking for a dog with the personality of a potato, Lala is not the dog for you; lazy is not in Lala's DNA. If you want a hiking or running companion or a dog (with training) that would excel in lure coursing, agility, fly ball or any other high energy sport, Lala's your girl. Ahhh, if only there were a way to harness all that energy. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES : Lala is a high energy pup that loves to fetch... though she hasn't quite grasped the idea of releasing yet, she is working on it. Lala is a pup that never passes up the opportunity for a good game of tug of war. MEDICAL ISSUES : None. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME : Lala would do best in an active home with a fenced yard where she can run around to her heart’s content and burn some of that high energy off. Lala can quite play rough with other dogs. A home where she the only dog soaking up the attention or a home with another large dog that matches her energy would be best. Kids older than 12 would be best as Lala may knock a smaller child down. Lala would greatly benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes. These include but are not limited to pull fees from shelters, veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications and care, microchips, neuter/spay surgeries, heartworm treatments, behavior evaluations, and foster care, as needed. Important notes before applying. Approved adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina and Kentucky. You must be at least 21 years of age to apply and legally sign our contract for adoption. Applications must be completed by the homeowner.  We do not adopt giant breed dogs to renters.
