Story

“Ares” is a male American Bulldog (mix), going on 2 years old that was left behind by his former owner (due to circumstances, it does not qualify as abandonment). Previously a scared, neglected dog that would bark constantly, he has been given much more attention over the past 2+ months and is significantly more socialized and is now very curious and interested in meeting new people. He has a lot of energy (and a lot of love) and he loves to play, stuffed objects being a favorite. He is not neutered or microchipped but is relatively calm compared to the expected temperament of an in-tact male dog. He was recently seen by SICSA for a wellness check and shots (rabies, bordatella, DHPP plus heartworm) and all was well. He doesn’t lift his leg to pee but always squats like a female dog so no “spraying” and he is potty and crate trained. He gets along with other dogs, cats and children and will also snuggle. He weighs almost 70 pounds and has not been picky with regard to dog food brands.

Sailor is a very handsome, 3 year old, 90lb American bulldog mix. He is as photogenic as they come, and he knows it! He is a cuddly gentle giant who is looking to find his forever family. Sailor would prefer to be in a home where he is the only dog, but he has previously lived with a 10 lb Chihuahua. If you have a resident dog, he would prefer them to be smaller in size and have a lower energy level just like him! He can get a little uncomfortable and anxious when an animal, either dog or cat, or human doesn't respect his personal space,  so a home with older kids would be best.  He currently lives in a foster home with 3 cats and doesn't pay them any mind.    Sailor has shown to be fearful of adult men if they approach him too quickly, but he just needs to know he can trust them!    Sailor LOVES people - he always wants to be near you! He loves to give foster mom big sloppy face kisses to tell her how much he loves and appreciates her.  He will hop right up in your lap regardless of his size and he'll also lay his body across the middle console while you're driving!  He is housebroken. He seems to get anxious when people leave him in a crate so family that is home often would probably suit him best. He's overall well behaved on the leash, he can pull at the very beginning simply out of excitement but he settles right in after a few minutes (he's not super high energy - he's just a big boy!). Are your nights getting ruff and lonely? Need a partner to keep an eye out on ya? I got your left, cause I'm Lefty! As you may be able to see, my right ear has disappeared!! Kind of like magic but with lots of blood/infection and no one really knows what happened to it cause I was found like that :( But don't feel sorry for me, I was SAVVEDDDDDD!!! And my ear was completely cleaned up and fixed and I still have an intact ear canal so no deafness here!! AND I'm just a big, huggable, goofball who needs a home and some love! I'm like a traditional Labrador; food motivated, eager to play, and a big cuddler. I probably have some American Bulldog in me cause I am SOLID :) Maybe we can hang out on the couch and eat some snacks together- you KNOW I love snacks!! I was heartworm positive when found in March, but I have completed treatment! I am READY for you so hurry up and adopt me!! I am great with kids, other dogs and pretty much everyone I meet. In fact, I was in a HUGE HUGE HUGE parade for Fiesta in San Antonio and I was the HIT of that parade!! My finder was SO generous and wanted to put money towards my adoption fee!
