Story
Jeremiah, a handsome 2-year-old red terrier mix with a heart of gold. Jeremiah is a classic "slow and steady" kind of guy. He might be a little shy at first, but give him a little time to get to know you, and he'll become your most loyal and loving companion. His trust is something he earns, and once you have it, you'll have a best friend for life. Once Jeremiah is comfortable, his playful side shines through. He absolutely loves to play with other dogs and is a total toy enthusiast. A good game of fetch or tug-of-war is all it takes to get his tail wagging. His energetic spirit is contagious, and he'd thrive in a home with a yard where he can run and play to his heart's content. Jeremiah is a sweet, intelligent boy who is looking for a patient family to help him feel safe and secure. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a dog who will reward your patience with endless love and fun, then Jeremiah might be the perfect match for you.

Meet Cabbage—a pitty boy with a blocky head, a wiggly butt, and a whole lot of love to give! This bubbly snuggle bug is basically a big softie wrapped in a meatball-shaped package. His adorable head tilts could win awards (if there were trophies for looking confused and cute at the same time). Cabbage knows his basic commands, walks like a gentleman on leash, and is always down for couch time. He’s ready to join his forever “patch” and promises to keep things equal parts goofy and sweet—no lettuce required!

**In foster - please call ahead to meet** Meet Hannah, a stunning beauty with impeccable manners. Hannah will thrive in a calm, adults-only home where she can be the only dog. She’s not a fan of sharing the spotlight with children or other pups, but she gets along great with cats - so feline friends are welcome! This smart girl is fully housetrained and can comfortably stay home alone for a few hours while you’re out. When you’re together, she’s happiest playing with her favorite toys or snuggling up for some quiet company. Hannah rides great in the car when necessary, but she's a bit of a homebody who doesn't mind staying in. Does this easygoing, affectionate gal sound like your type? She might just be your perfect match!

Story
Leftie arrived at our shelter in early November — scared, uncertain, and quiet by nature. She came in alongside her sister Rightie, who found her forever home already! Leftie has watched her sister go home and is still hoping someone will open their heart (and door) to her.In her kennel, Leftie seems to shrink a little more each day. Her big soulful eyes full of longing for someone to notice her, reach in, and offer a soft word or a gentle hand. She’s a shy girl at first glance, but beneath that shell is still a playful, energetic puppy. All she needs is a little encouragement — a kind voice, a slow approach, maybe a treat — and she begins to trust again. Walk with her on leash and you’ll see her tail start to wag. Sit down nearby and she’ll inch her way over, eventually curling up quietly at your feet. Offer her a stuffed toy, and she’ll gleefully tear it apart, fluff flying and joy in every tug — showing you just how playful she can be once she feels safe.Leftie is gentle with treats — she doesn’t snatch; she accepts them with the most delicate, trusting nudge. That tells you everything: she’s ready to be gentle, loyal, and devoted to someone who will be gentle in return. What she really needs now is a home with one of three things: patience, love, or better yet — another friendly dog. A sibling-type companion can help show her what being a dog again feels like: playtime, sharing the sofa, quiet comfort. As the holidays approach, her kennel feels colder — not just because of the chill in the air, but because of the soft emptiness of waiting. Leftie deserves to spend them in a warm home, not a shelter.

Meet Draco (A562774)Draco is one of the new faces around here, and we’re already smitten. If there’s one thing we’ve learned about him, it’s that this boy loves to be close to you. He’s the definition of a shadow dog, following along like he’s afraid he might miss a single second of your attention. He already knows “sit” and “shake,” and he’s very treat motivated. With a few snacks and a little patience, he’d probably learn anything you wanted to teach him. He’s smart, eager, and happiest when he’s part of whatever you’re doing. ??Draco may bark at you when you approach his kennel, but don’t let that fool you. Once he’s out and comfortable, he’s a total sweetheart. If you’d like to meet him, just ask a staff member to assist you; they’ll be happy to help make a proper introduction.Since Draco is still new, we haven’t had the chance to fully test him with other dogs yet, so a meet and greet would be the best way to see how he does with potential furry siblings. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, come meet Draco at Huntsville Animal Services. Draco is guesstimated to be 3 years old and weighs 60 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative.

Maizy is a wonderful dog. I got her from Animal Services . She is super friendly, never meets a stranger, she is super energetic. Easy to love. Deserves a good home. I have found though that she is terrified of children so needs to be in a home without them.
