Briggs is an amazing dog and so sweet and obeys. However, we simply do not have enough room in our 1 bedroom apartment for him. He comes with a kennel, toys, leashes, and a few collars/shirts to whoever can host a great home for him and give him a better quality of life.

Story
Carraway is a beautiful, loyal pup that is so ready for a home of her very own❤️ To understand Carraway, you need to be let in on her backstory… For weeks, she had been spotted and was being fed by a Good Samaritan in a really bad part of Birmingham. We knew she had been pregnant and she had her babies, but it took a little bit to figure out where they were. Once we knew they were in an abandoned boarded up house, we knew what we had to do. We were able to trap Mama Carraway, and then we were able to get into the house and rescue her puppies (our Birmingham Streets Litter) from under the floor - they were about five weeks old at the time. We wondered, would mama be OK, would she be able to adjust after life on the street? But we were soon answered by her curling up with her puppies’ Rescuer in a chair at Dixie House. It was then that we knew she would be OK. Carraway has had a long road, even since rescue. Through vetting and heartworm treatment, a couple different foster homes, her “breed” working against her… But this sweet girl is more ready than ever to find a home and family of her own. She has come so far! She went from showing dog leash reactivity, to assimilating into a foster home with eight other adult dogs, ranging in all sizes and puppies! At first she had no idea how to play, what toys were, or how to be a pet. But it did not take long! Carraway has a few things that she REALLY loves: Car Rides *she might claim shotgun* Snuggles (especially with kids!) Squeaker & tug toys Walks! Other dogs! Carraway does well in a crate, plays well with others, and is overall just a sweet and loving girl. She has been misunderstood for far too long and is ready for a home that sees her for who she is and gives her all she deserves. Story
This beautiful girl is ready to be the STAR of your life!⭐️ Star is an approximately 5 year old female pittie girl. She is petite in frame and just a sweet, gentle love. She has been THRIVING in her foster home and now she is ready to find a family of her own!😍 This sweet girl loves belly rubs and laying around the house or outside in the sun. She is a BIG fan of stuffed animals and can be found carrying them around the house! Her foster mama has been teaching her how to decipher between kid toys and dog toys but sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference🤪 When asked about Star’s personality, her foster mom says “you will absolutely fall in love with this girl. She is sweet and just wants to be close to you! She is low energy and crate trained, and all she wants in life is a warm bed to lay her head on, and infinite belly rubs.”💕 Star is great with other dogs after proper introductions and has a dominant play style, so she does best with patient playmates who aren’t easily offended😉 She would do well in a home with or without another pup, and would LOVE to have kids in her forever home - she thinks they’re pretty awesome. Star would make the perfect companion for just about anyone willing to give her a chance.🐾 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. 🐾Juno🥰 Female, adult pittie mix that was "country before country was cool" 🤠 Unfortunately, Juno lost her human a year ago & she’s been trying to figure out what life has for her next🖤 Her foster mom has taught her to walk calmly on leash, sit, she's still working on " leave it"... and although she a medium to large girl, she thinks she is a lap dog! 💕 Smart, energetic, (will play tug of war with rope forever) & LOVES to fetch the ball!! 🎾 Beautiful, sensitive girl looking for her forever family 🏡 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. 🐾PEARL🎀 A lot of dog in a beautiful little package 😍 A “wiggle butt,” her backend never stops wiggling with joy and excitement!💥 ISO a family who will give her a lot of attention and LOVE🥰 She has a snort that kind of sounds like a laugh, and is obsessed with kissing!😘 She will wrestle her foster mom’s son to the floor and will lick his face for an hour if he were to let her. 🤪 She does like to chew things so stuffed animals and shoes need to be kept out of reach if they aren’t “hers”🧸 She is working on leash training and potty training and learning quickly! 💯 She LOVES to eat, especially treats, which will make her so fun to train! 🍪 She loves kids and adult humans once she gets to know them, and loves other dogs with proper introduction! 🐕 In her forever home, she needs a yard to run because she is always full of energy! One of her favorite things to do is to go in the driveway and roll over on her back and roll around. 🐾 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Sweet Jamie is looking for a very special fur-ever home! She has had to overcome more than her fair share of difficulties in her young life, including heartworms and gastroesophageal reflux disease. GBHS will continue to provide heartworm treatment at no cost to the adopter until the heartworms are completely cleared, and the reflux is currently well-controlled on a low-fat diet (although she may need occasional antacids in the future). Though shy and nervous in new environments, Jamie quickly opens up when given a little bit of time to settle in. Once she warms up to you, her affectionate nature truly shines and she becomes and a total cuddle-bug. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is a master at matching any level of play energy. She's fully leash, crate, and house trained, making her a wonderfully low-maintenance companion. Jamie enjoys her walks and occasional hikes (always followed by long naps, of course). Her foster parent notes that she switches seamlessly from being active and playful into being a complete couch potato ready to binge watch your next show with you! If you're patient and willing to help this sweet pup with her confidence, Jamie will reward you with a deep bond and endless affection. Come meet her and see if you're the perfect match to help her feel safe and loved. If you're interested in meeting Jamie, please email foster@gbhs.org to set up an appointment.

Rehoming my sweet 5 year old English Bulldog, Ray Ray. He is super sweet, loves to cuddle and is loyal. He does well with kids but not other pets. His ideal owner would be able to give him plenty of love and anttention and short walks. He turns 5 next month, we’ve had him his whole life.

Story
Meet Aubie 💙 Aubie is a 10 year old Boxer mix. He had a wonderful home where he was spoiled and loved up until a few months ago and then his world fell apart 😔. Aubie’s owner got very sick and could no longer care for himself or Aubie. Aubie was placed at a local vet clinic for several months in hopes that someday he could return home to his person and the life he had always known but unfortunately that is not going to be possible due to the fact that his previous owner has had to have more surgery and has sadly lost his ability to walk. So now Aubie is looking for a new home where he has never has to worry about the future and he can just focus on being the good boy that he is. Aubie is crate and house trained and would do great in a settled home where he still gets to be active. We think a home with an active person or couple or one with older children would be great for Aubie. He is okay with other dogs but is not really interested in being a doggie friend. Aubie just wants a person to hang with and to play ball non stop 🎾. He is very active for his age so a fenced yard for him to run around in is a high priority especially since he loves to spend time outside. This boy has been through so much recently, we are praying his new family will see this post and give him the opportunity to live out his life in the way he deserves being loved and cared for by his new hero. ❤️
