She along with 3 other pitties that he was saved with are extremely emaciated with pressure sores that they are currently on medications for. ROSCA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 April 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 32 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. This sweet girl has a lot of healing to do, but is so loving and gentle. She needs an extra special family who can give her the life she deserves and help her forget the abuse, neglect and starvation she has suffered. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel  and   photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Story
Cookie was surrendered to us when her owner could not have more than 2 dogs in the apartment. She is a happy go lucky friendly girl. She is 9 months old this month.( April). She is spayed and completely vetted. She can jump 6-8 ft straight up without a running start so even a fenced yard won't keep her in. We prefer a family that leash walks their dog. She was not properly socialized as a young pup and will need a kind loving patient owner to show her the ropes and how to be a dog. She is finally walking on leash better and will go through a doorway now. We have 12ft high fence in our outdoor runs so we let her run about, but still watch her as she might even try to climb out if left unattended. You must have a current Vet reference from a Vet that knows you. A dog is a 15 year minimum commitment. She is very active and would be great agility dog. She only has half a tail because of "happy-tail" syndrome. Only serious inquiries only over 25 years of age. Online adoption form at www.fobac.org and you can email us at fobacadoptions@gmail.com or call the shelter at 860-828-7055. $100 adoption fee

Story
Layla ðŸ\x90¾â\x9D¤ï¸\x8FThis lovely 4 year old lady has been here at our shelter since 2021(half of her life), and has been looking for a place to call home ever since. She doesn't understand why no one seems to want to provide her the home she deserves. Layla considers herself a lap dog that wants nothing but to be laying next to you and enjoying your attention or playing ball with you outside. Layla also LOVES water! Although, she loves her people so much more that she doesn't quite enjoy sharing and may not like the other furry pets that might try to take you away, so its important that this girl is your one and only. But with the amount of love she has to give, she's all you'll ever need! This girl is also so smart that she'll know you'll want her to sit even before you ask. With an extremely treat motivated pup like Layla, teaching her your routine will be easy-peezy.Layla is very particular about where she does her business and needs a little guidance on her potty training, and can also have some separation anxiety when her people aren't around, so it's important to find her a family that is willing to take the time and commitment to continue her training. She can have a lot of happy puppy energy and doesn't quite understand her size compared to smaller humans, therefore she would be best suited for older children. If you're interested in adopting or fostering this pretty lady, please fill out an application on our website. Layla is UTD on her shots, spayed, and microchipped.https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=27

Name: LadyBreed: Hound MixAge: 2 years oldCats: NoDogs: NoKids: NoOur lovely Lady is searching for her forever home! At an estimated 2 years old, this sweet girl hasn’t had the best start in life. Lady was found roaming by a local animal control and sat waiting for her person to come for her but sadly, they never did. Lady was apprehensive to human touch at first but has made huge strides in learning to trust humans and that affection is okay. Sometimes a bit too much as she likes to be real close and in the laps of the people she loves the most! While she has come a long way in her time with us, Lady is still working on some trust issues with new humans and will require a special person who is willing to put the time and effort into coming and working build a bond with her.More about Lady, she loves her walks and quiet time in our expen away from the other pups. She’s also quite the fan of chasing down tennis balls, and loves her true chew treats! No other animals for Lady, as she has high prey drive. No kids as she prefers an adult only home. Lady is microchipped, utd on her vaccinations, and is spayed. If you think you can give Lady the forever home she longs for, please apply today!

Story
Meet our very sweet and petite girl named Puddin! Puddin is about 8 months old, and she came to our shelter after she was found roaming on the side of the turnpike. She is a very friendly puppy who absolutely loves getting attention from people. When Puddin is outside of her kennel in our backyard, she is very calm and quiet. She has a little interest in toys, but she isn't overly excited about them. She is food motivated and already knows how to sit and give paw. When Puddin first came to our shelter, she was super skinny. We are still trying to get some weight on her, but she eats very well. We have noticed that when Puddin has pressure placed on her throat/trachea, this causes her to vomit. For example, if we use a slip lead leash around her neck and it tightens, this causes her to vomit. Because of this, Puddin will need to be walked using a harness instead of a regular collar. We aren't sure how she is with other dogs yet, but she tested well with cats. She can go to a home with children 8 years old and older who have dog experience. At this time, Puddin is on a prescription GI food due to her having diarrhea. She has had multiple fecal tests that have come back negative. At this time, our vets think this is from a combination of IBS and anxiety from being in our kennel. She may not need to be on this food forever, but it is currently helping her now. If you are interested in adopting Puddin, Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! Her adoption fee is $75.00. MAC IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK (M-F 8-4pm) (Sat-Sun 10-4pm) Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. The office phone number is 203-235-4179. Leave a message, and someone will call you back promptly. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME. For more info please call 203-235-4179 (Always Leave A Message) or email adopt@savingpawsct.org

Name: Luna Breed: pittie mix Age: Under a year Dogs: NoCats: YesKids: YesPretty Miss Luna is longing for her forever home! A little under a year old, this sweet girl is quite the social gal, who loves everyone she meets!Luna came to MHS after the resident dogs weren’t getting along with her, so understandably so, she’s a bit apprehensive to new canine friends, but her foster mom is working hard to socialize Luna and help Luna understand that she doesn’t always have to be on guard with other dogs. While we are still getting to know Luna, we can tell you that she is currently besties with one of her resident feline foster siblings, does great in her crate, and is housebroken.A little more brag time about Luna…, not only is she obviously beautiful!, Luna is insanely smart, and knows most of the basic commands, does great on a leash, and loves her cuddle time! POPPERS is an absolute sweetheart, brimming with affection and love with the sweetest, gentle "old soul" type personality. He can come across like a couch potato but he loves to run and wrestle with his friends. When he was in the kennels he did gain some weight, which now he is more active he is losing them - but it is important for his family to be aware to keep him active to keep those dangerous pounds off. POPPERS is a top favourite with everyone he meets. He is a hard chewer of toys and anything other than tough chewing toys he will destroy - red kongs are like scooby snacks to him lol He has been around adults of all ages, shapes and sizes, small children and people with special needs and was gentle and loving.  He is responsive and is happy to show anyone he meets lots of love. He does need an active family who will ensure he gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that he needs to live a happy fulfilling life.
