Meet Ausra! This one year old pit bull mix is perfectly imperfect in every way! She has a malformed back foot, but that doesn't slow her down one bit :) She loves people and has done well with other dogs in her foster home - big and small. She's also fine with cats. She is goofy with a stubborn streak, so be prepared to laugh a lot! Her foster home is working on house training, crate training, leash training, and other basic manners and she's catching on quickly. She does have an allergy to chicken, but has done well on a variety of Pro Plan that won't break the bank. Ausra's adoption fee is $250 and with that she comes vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Meet Girlie! You're not reading the description wrong - Girlie's DNA showed she is a pit bull mixed with a bunch of smaller breeds - predominantly Yorkie! LOL. What resulted was a lower rider who will make you smile :) Girlie came to Helping Paws from the shelter, where she was assumed to be a senior based on the cataracts on her eyes. Upon examination from our vet, it was concluded that she was actually more like 3-4 years old and had juvenile cataracts. We were sent to a specialist, and they thought she was a great candidate for cataracts surgery! She had that over the summer and her foster mom reports that she seems MUCH better and definitely has a better quality of life now. Girlie does great with adults and cats. She also does well with older children, but absolutely no little ones. She can be very dog selective, so either a home with no other dogs or one with a very calm dog that basically ignores her could work. She likes to go for walks, cuddle up with you in bed, and loves getting belly rubs :) She is potty pad trained, but will also go outside as well. Girlie's adoption fee is $300 and with that she comes fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Meet Lyra! This mama came from the Indianapolis shelter after giving birth to ELEVEN puppies back in May. She did an AMAZING job raising the pups and they have since all found their forever homes. Now that she's had some rest and relaxation and put some weight on, she's ready to find the perfect home herself! Lyra is approximately 1-2 years old, absolutely loves kids, and is best friends with her foster dog brother. She can be overly excited when first meeting new dogs, so a slow introduction with dog friends would be a must. She is house trained and crate trained and has been working on leash manners, etc with her foster family. When she is done for the night, she likes to put herself to bed - even if the rest of her family isn't ready. We are very sad to do this but are moving with our grand parents and he is not able to come with us. He is truly an amazing and loving dog and he absolutely loves kids he can be a little hyper at first but he calms down! He will be 4 in may. He would do best in a home with female dogs I believe. Blue is a loving and friendly boy! He is roughly 9 years old and around 70 pounds. Blue loves people and children but likes to be the only male dog in the house. He does fine with female dogs. I am not a fan of cats. Blue doesn't really like toys but he LOVE bones. He does like walks but is a strong boy and will need a little work on not pulling so hard.
