Story
Winnie is a beautiful pitty girl looking for a particular home. She came to us after being found living in an abandoned van in a junkyard. She was thin and not in the best shape after fending for herself on the streets, She was under-socialized and unsure about people. We were not sure if she would be adoptable. After many weeks working with Winnie, she had her favorite people she was eager to please, but still struggled with more than one human at a time, and showed some nervous behaviors. After consulting with our vet, we decided to try Prozac, which has worked wonders for our Winnie girl! Winnie would do best in a home with an owner who is educated about the stigma pit bulls face in society, and who can make sure she has a spot in their home and family for her entire life anyways. She would prefer an adult only home, without other animals, that is willing to make her the “kiddo” of the family. Winnie does not seem to be a big fan of children and we will not adopt her into a home with children of any any age or regular kiddo visitors. She will need continued training and to stay on Prozac or to consult with your own vet about alternative anxiety medications that can help her continue to live her best life. Winnie loves walks in the world, creek stomping, car rides, snuffle mats, and things she can chew. She has done well here going outside if let out on regular schedule and doesn’t destroy her furniture in her room. She will destroy stuffies and sissy toys with glee. Winnie is looking for a human who wants a loyal best friend that doesn’t have a perfect past, but is committed to a beautiful forever.

Story
Simba is a 4 year old American Pit Bull Terrier. We pulled him from the shelter two years ago after he was hit by a car, but found his family and reunited them. Unfortunately, he was found as a stray again and in rough shape, so we decided it’s time for him to find a safe home for forever. He likes other dogs, and has lived with dogs that are both large and small. He also has lived with children of all ages, including infants and kids who may not have the best dog manners. Simba requires a low-fat diet, and we have him on GI food. He does ok with occasional regular treats - but his main diet must remain low-fat in order for him to stay healthy. He is very housebroken, has lived in a home before, and is crate trained. He does not like surprise strangers inside his yard or home, and does best when he knows a new friend is present with an introduction. He is extremely treat motivated and favorite treats should be kept somewhere he can’t reach them. He loves stuffies and good runs. Because romps during his outside time are his favorite, and he likes to guard his yard from birds and burglars, he will need a securely fenced yard. We’d be open to a dog experienced family that has alternative plan with lots of exercise if it’s a great fit. Simba is one of our favorite dogs.

Story
Are you looking for a dog that isn't super clingy? Ryker is your man. Ryker also isn't at the top of his class on learning but is eager to take treats which means he has potential. Ryker is an independent pup who didn't have a lot of socialization with people or other dogs. Once you sit down Ryker will sit down next to you and enjoys your presence. He is looking for a family who will work with him on building confidence and allow him to shine. He currently hangs out with a female dog that is super self assured, so Ryker might do well in a household with a similar dog with slow introductions. Because Ryker didn't have an opportunity to learn how to be a dog until later in life, he doesn't like to share his toys or his food. Because of this we recommend children that are teenagers or older. Like most white bully dogs, Ryker does suffer from allergies that are managed via medication and diet. Will you be the one to help Ryker be the good dog that he wants to be? *Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy *Please visit website for how to adopt: https://sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org/adopt *Please note that we do not operate on a first come first served basis.

Story
PenGwen is officially ready for adoption and she is going to need a very special person to give her a forever home. In many ways Gwen is just like any other puppy…she loves to play, she loves her toys. She’s ornery and a little needy and so incredibly sweet. She loves carrots and blueberries. She gets excited for breakfast and also dinner, and REALLY excited when she finds out a toy has a squeaker. But Gwen also has cerebellar hypoplasia which means she has unique needs. Her condition will not get worse, but it also will never improve. This means her new family needs to understand her limitations and keep her safe while also building her confidence to live life in the body she was given. PenGwen’s life is a wobbly one, and that poses a certain amount of risk to tasks that would otherwise be harmless. She will need a home that does not have stairs. There is simply no way for her to get up and down steps safely and a flight of stairs could be incredibly dangerous for her if she lost her footing. Additionally, Gwen cannot be crated. Her little life started quite traumatically and a crate causes her severe anxiety. I have crate trained a LOT of dogs and puppies, and I believe crates are the right choice for many dogs. But not Gwen. When she is in a crate she is incredibly uncomfortable, anxious, and borderline panicked. She soils herself and this causes her to panic further. For her well-being, we do not crate her and will expect her future home to respect this as well. Gwen does VERY well left home alone, gated in a room with our other dogs. With dog friends for company, her soft bed, and toys to play with…. she’s an angel. We have left her this way for up to 8 hours and she mostly just relaxes in her bed, never chewing on anything she shouldn’t. At night, she has a bed in our room that she takes herself to when she’s sleepy. When she needs to go potty, we go outside and she curls back up to go back to sleep. PenGwen has met other dogs, cats, and humans and does well with each. She will need a dog who is patient and gentle in play. Gwen’s wobbles get worse when she’s excited so playtime can be….chaotic. ? She hangs with dogs much bigger than she is but needs a dog that will adjust their play style to suit her needs. Gwen is not her best self in overstimulating situations and will not do well at breweries, dog parks, or other events with a lot of other dogs, foot traffic, noises, smells, etc. Because of this, Gwen will not be attending any adoption events and we will be relying almost completely on word of mouth and the power of social media to find her the right home. We know it will take time to find her forever, and we’re committed to making sure it’s a PERFECT fit. Because she deserves it. Please share her posts, tell your friends, talk about her and keep her in mind if you know anyone considering adoption. We would appreciate it. ?? PenGwen Quick Facts! ? * Good with dogs, cats, and people * Sleeps well through the night, LOVES her cozy bed * Loves toys! Squeakies are her favorite! * Loves to play! She can play rough but her play style is pretty self limiting due to her wobbles * No crate! Does well with a gated in a room with her dog friends * Doesn’t chew things she shouldn’t, very good about using her toys. * Working on potty training, getting better every day! * Looooves to be held and cuddled and snuggled and well….any combination of the three, in no particular order. * No stairs! *Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy *Please visit website for how to adopt: https://sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org/adopt

Story
Luka is a happy, beautiful and lovable young dog. Are you looking for a dog that would easily be trained? Luka is very attentive to training and highly food motivated. Due to being young, he does have a lot of energy but once that is managed Luka is happy, affectionate, and wants to please. Because Luka is young and still learning his manners he would be best in a household without small children. Luka is just a homebody of dog who is most comfortable lounging around the house and not being a social butterfly. He would love to be someone's ride or die and would be the goodest and most loyal boy. Luka is a wonderful doggo, who is young and still learning to DOG and in need of a patient person to unleash his full potential. His favorite foods consist of just about anything, but especially peanut butter biscuits. As he continues to get older, he becomes more and more willing to please. Luka arrived at the shelter with a leg injury but after months of splints, he is medically cleared for full activity! He can be dog selective, therefore slow introductions and meet and greets would be necessary. A dog that matches his play style would be best. Are you Luka's ride or die? If interested, please fill out an adoption application on our website, sketchymuttsandunderdogs.org **Adopters must live in Central Indiana, no more than 45 min from downtown Indy.
