Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. BUTTERS was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 30 October 2023. BUTTERS is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of January 2023 and on has an estimated weight of 30 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue      YouTube channel      and      photo albums on our Facebook page      to see a LOT of pictures and videos. BUTTERS was fostered in GA before transport to Maine and this is the information her wonderful adopter provided to help find her perfect forever home and family: Butters Loves belly rubs Playful but also happy to be a couch cuddler Dog friendly Toy relocation specialist - enjoys collecting toys in a pile  Loves to gently dig and bury bones; if there’s nowhere to actually bury her bones, she’ll pretend and expect you to play along Responds to whistles and tongue clicks Very quiet when in a home environment - rarely barks and then only ever once Excited to be on a leash though she bounces between wanting to hurry and explore and wanting to be right next to you Clever and easily trained with time and treats We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. BUTTERS is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $350. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Hi! I'm Gumbo! I have a lot of energy and would like to go on long walks. I'm anxious, so please go slow. I would love to go through Obedience classes to build my confidence and help with manners. I would do best in a home with no kids. If I sounds like a good fit, stop by to meet me today.

Story
Nova is approximately 8 months old and about 50 pounds. I adopted her from a puppy rescue in NY where she was transported to from the south at 4 months old. I do not have much history other than coming from the south, but in the time I’ve known her she is a sweet girl-loves to give kisses on your face, loves being around people, loves a good adventure and then sleeping under the blankets with you at night. Unfortunately, I have several cats in the home whom she chases constantly causing a lot of stress in the household. She is a very social dog, she LOVES other dogs—I have spoken with a trainer and she would really benefit from a household with a household with another dog. She engages in some boredom behaviors like destructive chewing and pacing, likely due to boredom. I just cannot provide her with the lifestyle she needs. She requires a home with: •An experienced adopter willing to train •fenced in yard •dog companion •no cats/small animals in the home

Story
Kane is a 7 year old pitbull bulldog mix he is a very sweet boy but sadly suffers from seizures. He has some permanent damage to his eye sight and at night has accidents because he still has small seizures while he sleeps. Unfortunately because of his eye sight he scares very easily and is uneasy on his feet. He will need a quiet patient home with no small children. I wish we didn't have to rehome him but w several small kids 1 being autistic the noises and quick movements scare him and he gets very defensive growling and barring his teeth because he can't see them. Our home is no longer what is best for him and we want him to have a happy quiet life

Story
Hey hey hey hey! My name is Lucky, and I think that I'm just the luckiest guy in the world because you're here to visit me! I love people and doing any and all things active. I would make a wonderful hiking, running, or parachuting buddy. Ok, maybe not parachuting, but I am definitely an adventure seeker who just wants to be with you as much as I can! I love nothing more than playing tug with rope toys. I think of it as super fun and a way that my people can get their upper body/core workouts for the day in. I'm just trying to be helpful! I also like to play with other dogs, but I can be a bit "much" for some, so I'll need someone who can keep up with me. I am working on my house training, but it's really hard here in the shelter. I need a patient owner who is willing to work with me on training, since I'm smart and love to learn! I would be a great candidate for obedience classes to build on what I already know. I lived in my previous home with a younger child and was friendly, but had to be crated a lot since my owner had to work a lot and I was so exuberant with the little one that I'd knock them over frequently. Kennel staff think it best that I go home with kids 5 and older so I wouldn't be so likely to hurt them without meaning to!Weight: 54If you think that I could be a good fit for you and your family, please call the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126 or swing by the shelter to speak with kennel staff and meet me!

Story
Here's his bio: he is a pitbull, and one of the sweetest ones I've ever met lol Pumba: is 2, was raised w a little kid (she had him since he was 8 weeks old ) he's not a barker, unless someone knocks. I have been working with him to get him better on the leash and he's doing great ! I got him from a friend.. she had to rehome him because she moved in with her boyfriend and Pumba was not doing well with suddenly 4 other dogs. He wasn't walked on a leash much before we got him. He can be reactive to other dogs, but he just wants to play. He is neutered and completely up to date on his shots He has 2 more heartworm tablets. His tail was docked because he got it caught in something and wagged it so much it wouldn't heal. He's about 70 lbs, will snuggle next to you all day. He is a complete love! I will be picky about where he goes, including asking for vet and personal references. Some things have changed in our lives and we can't give him all that he needs

Story
This big guy’s name is Hippo! Hippo is a five-year-old Pit Bull Terrier whose previous owner unfortunately did not have the means to take care of him due to his size and exuberant personality. He will need a Terrier experienced home as he still has a lot of learning to do. He is quite a loyal boy so with some time he has potential to be a wonderful companion. He will need a home without other pets or young children due to some resource guarding issues. Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html February 29, 2024, 12:22 pm

Story
Caspian is a seven-year-old Pitbull/Labrador mix who originally came to Second Chance as a stray a few years ago. He had been adopted and was in a home for quite some time, but unfortunately he was returned to the shelter when his previous owners no longer had the means to care for him. He is quite the energetic boy and loves running around a fenced-in yard, playing tug-of-war, and just exploring the local trails.  Caspian does not do well with other animals. He would need to live with children over the age of 13 due to his reactions to certain situations. He is a fun-loving dog who has had a hard first few years of life and deserves to be stable and happy! Please visit the following link on our website to learn about Second Chance's adoption process. http://www.2ndchanceanimalcenter.org/adoption.html February 29, 2024, 12:22 pm

Story
Hi my name is Lily, I'm about a year old and am a true puppy at heart. I like to play with my foster brother Theo and run free in the back yard. I like to play with my toys and make it look like a winter wonderland in the living room. I'm still learning as I'm young but I am food and love motivated. I am learning to not jump when I want pets but I love my humans so much it's hard. I sit and do know paw but I only give it when I want to. I am learning potty and for the most part go outside but do use potty pads. I find my crate to be my safe place and don't mind going into it while my people work who wouldn't mind extra treats lol. I sleep with my people at night and I am a great cuddled. If you work with me as I am still you feel and need training you won't be disappointed I am a great puppy who will give you lots of love in return. Hi
