Story
Meet Ophelia: The Ultimate Lap Cat After 8 years as a devoted only companion, Ophelia is looking for a new heart to call home. She is an extraordinarily loving cat whose favorite place in the world is nestled in a lap, purring while being petted. Her Favorite Things: Sunbathing: She loves sleeping in her cat tree and watching the neighborhood. The "Welcome Home": She greets you by running to her scratching post for a "hello" stretch and some pets. Simple Joys: She loves being brushed and the classic empty cardboard box or playing fetch with an aluminum foil ball. Lifestyle & Manners: Ophelia is perfectly potty trained and uses her scratching post faithfully. She is well-adapted to long workdays and stays calm while you're away. Please note: she is a "counter cruiser" and isn't trained to stay off them! The Ideal Home: She has thrived as an only pet in a quiet home. Ophelia has only ever known a loving environment and has been a "perfect companion" for nearly a decade.

Story
Nikki is a 1.5-year-old orange female kitty with a lot of personality. She’s playful, curious, and can be very sweet once she feels comfortable. I adopted her when she was young, and she’s been a loved part of my home. Since I recently had a baby, Nikki has had a hard time adjusting to the change and has been showing some stress-related behaviors. Because of this, she would do best in a calm, quiet home without small children, with someone experienced with cats who can give her patience and consistency while she settles in. Nikki would thrive in a home where she can have her own space, a steady routine, and lots of love. With the right environment, she has so much potential to be a wonderful companion.

Story
We call him Lupa.. we have had him since he was a kitten. He has had urinary issues following an injury about 10 years ago, requiring special food. I am more than willing to pay for a few bags to get him started in his new home. He is SO SWEET and cuddly and loving. He still has his claws, he is neutered. He will come with everything he needs and I really hope I can get updates/ pictures in his new home. We have 2 big dogs that he is fine with but he has grown up with them so I think he would do best as an only fur child. He is WONDERFUL with children though (we have a 4yo and 10mo old and he is great with both). We love him and this has been such a hard decision, but my husband's allergic reactions have been getting worse and worse unfortunately, he also has been having issues peeing NEXT to his litter box instead of in it so I've been trying to work on that.. so someone with experience and patience would be ideal for him. He really is such a love bug!

Story
Hi! I’m affectionately named Stroodle. Anyways, I’m a quiet and chill lady. Pretty good with other pets and kids, more like I tolerate them. I’m super affectionate, only when I feel like it though. My quirk is I get so excited about love I start to drool! I don’t have front claws that’s why I’m an indoor cat..I’ve been curious about the outside world as I got older, so better watch your open door!

Story
Melly is a young boy, born September 2024.  The perfect home for him would be with no other male cats or dogs, also no young children.  He loves to get attention and loves to play.  Melly gets along with the resident bearded dragon.  Melly is litter trained and enjoys being active.  He is friendly with older kids (age 6+). The suggested adoption donation for Melly is $85, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2511062##
