Story
Meet Oreo! The sweetest, most lovable 80lbs “lap dog” you’ll ever meet… Despite the fact that she has absolutely no idea she’s not lap-sized. She’s gentle, non-aggressive, listens well, and will happily trade her soul for a good treat. Oreo has been such a joyful part of our home, but life has changed very quickly for us. I’m now caring for my mother after her stroke and juggling life with a new baby, and I simply don’t have the capacity to give Oreo the time and attention she deserves. She would thrive with a loving family who can enjoy her big heart, goofy personality, and endless cuddles.

Story
Meet my girl — a 5-year-old Pit Bull/Staffordshire Terrier with the sweetest heart! I adopted her 6 months ago from a friend, and she’s been nothing but loving and well-mannered ever since. I’m looking for a home that welcomes responsible pet owners and appreciates a calm, affectionate dog. She’s gentle, loyal, goofy, cuddly, and super friendly with people. She loves her walks, naps like a pro, and thinks belly rubs are a full-time job. She’s house-trained, easygoing, and has a very soft, relaxed personality — truly the definition of a good girl. If you’re looking for a sweet, well-behaved companion who brings nothing but love and comfort, she’s the perfect match.

Story
Meet Twix. This handsome Bully boy was found tied to a pole as a very young pup. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan saw him, took him in, and ensured he found his way to rescue. Twix has proven to be a vibrant, sweet, and smart boy, and we are thrilled to help him find his forever home. Twix is currently living with seasoned fosters, Laura and Brian, along with their resident dog, Buddy. Before arriving in the DC metro area, he lived happily in a home with four other dogs. He’s been an easy introduction to every dog he’s met and truly loves being part of a pack. Playful and social, Twix thrives in an active environment and especially enjoys rough-and-tumble play. He’ll do best in a home with a dog his size or larger who matches his energy and play style. FOSTER MOM UPDATE  Laura shared, “Twix is doing great! He settled in quickly, and we love having his fun and loving personality around. He has done a good job acclimating to Buddy, and I think he’s best paired with a medium energy-level dog that would play with him throughout the day. Buddy plays but only when he wants to, so Twix doesn't mind lounging around. He does a good job keeping himself occupied with toys, and I have no problem working from home every day. He settles down well. Twix is a very sweet boy who loves his belly rubs, playing chase, and tug-of-war is his favorite game. He does great at meeting new people and will talk to you from time to time. It’s the cutest thing.” ******* Twix has shown himself to be adaptable and eager to learn. He’s housetrained, crate-trained, and has started mastering basic commands. He rides well in the car and is a social boy who enjoys meeting new people and other dogs. He has decent leash skills and has been through some training to improve his leash skills.  Twix is very treat-motivated and learns quickly. We believe that Twix will do best in an active home. He’d thrive with a family who appreciates his fun and goofy personality and is committed to giving him the structure and love he deserves. While he loves the company of other dogs, Twix would also be happy as the center of attention in a single dog home, provided he has plenty of interaction and activity. This lovable boy has so much to offer and is ready to bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to his new family. If you’re looking for a loyal, active, and playful companion, Twix might just be the perfect fit for you. Apply today! BREED ESTIMATE:  American Staffordshire/Bulldog/Bully Mix = Super cute! Story
If you are interested in adopting King, please contact dogs@lostdogrescue.org Hi! I'm King. I am loving, loyal, and - ok, you made me say it - very handsome. Oh, and did I mention that I am looking for a best friend to adopt me? I like leash walks, especially in calm and quiet spaces where we can spend some quality time together without the crowds. But, I may get distracted by all of the wonderful smells because I really do need to put my nose on everything to explore the wonders of the world. Not only am I curious, I am up for a challenge! I like to run across streams, jump on logs, and hike the trails. I have lots of energy so will be sure to help keep up with your exercise plan. I even like to get in a jog from time to time. And, not to brag, but I am pretty smart. But, for the sake of all those delicious treats, I will pretend that it takes me time to master new tricks and skills. One more thing to tell you. I like to talk when I play. I hope you will come to meet me so we can play together forever, just you and me!

Laurel is a charming 30-lb boxer mix with a beautiful brown coat and all the classic boxer traits that make the breed so easy to love. She’s bright-eyed, spirited, and full of that playful, bouncy energy boxers are known for, yet she also has a soft, snuggly side that shines the moment she leans in for affection. Laurel is now on the lookout for a loving home where she can feel safe, appreciated, and part of a family. She’s ready to give her whole heart to someone willing to offer her the warmth and stability she deserves.

Story
To learn more about Bufford, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Meet Bufford, the ultimate butt-wiggling boxer mix! At just 1 year old, Bufford is an all-wiggles, all-love kind of pup who greets the world with a happy tail, soft eyes, and a big goofy grin! This handsome boy is a delightful walking buddy. He’s great on leash—traffic, bikes, and runners are no problem—and loves a good sniff-filled stroll. He may let out a little excited whine when he wants to meet another dog pal, but he redirects quickly with tasty treats, which he takes ever so gently, and walks on like the good boy he is. Bufford is friendly, agreeable, and eager to please. While he doesn’t seem to know many commands yet, his food motivation, mellow energy, and desire to make his people happy position him as a great candidate for training. Affectionate, goofy, people-loving, and always wagging, Bufford is the kind of pup who makes every day brighter. If you’re looking for a happy, loving companion who’s ready for fun and cuddles, Bufford can’t wait to meet you!
