Story
If you are interested in Murphy Lea, please contact camille.level@lostdogrescue.org and anna.hidalgo@gmail.com Hey pals! I'm Murphy Lea, but you can feel free to call me Murph Man! I am a happy-go-lucky boy with a big personality and a true love for life. I have a passion for playing fetch, going hiking and any sort of outdoor adventure. I'm a great walker (or should I say prancer!). I also love cuddling with you or entertaining myself with a toy after we have been out having fun. I appear housebroken and crate trained. I love ALL people and I'm friendly to other dogs too. I would do best in an active home that shares my enthusiasm for exercise and living the life to the fullest. I am a very loving boy with much affection to offer to my new family. I can't wait to find my forever people!

Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Carly is 1.5 years old and loves meeting new people (young or old) and dogs (off leash). She’s mayor of the dog park and tries to play with every dog she meets, big and small. She wiggles up to all humans, including mail carriers, trying to lure them in with her beautiful brown eyes. Like most pittie mixes, she has anxiety and is on medication taken daily to help calm her brain. We’ve had her for 6 months, but are unable to meet this girl’s need for playtime or a fenced yard in our small townhome. She would be best suited going to a home with a yard she can roam in during the day, or a companion dog that would love to wrestle and zoom with her.

Story
** I am currently being housed at an alternate location. If you want to meet me, come to our shelter Tuesday-Sunday, 12-6:30pm at 1201 New York Avenue NE! ** Hello darlings! I'm Sweetie and I am living up to my name. I'm a beautiful gal looking for a kind family to adopt me soon and pamper me with love (and please, I want to be the only object of your heart, so none of those other dogs). I was just lost, and a kind person helped me get to the shelter safely. I needed time to adjust and am now feeling confident to meet the public so they can adore me. During my time here, I've made some nice human friends who give me treats and talk nicely to me. I do like that very much, thank you! I've also discovered I have a real fondness for these things called "squeaky toys!" My goodness are they fun to play with. I've done well with other dogs but maybe would like to meet them slowly at first. I'm so fabulous that I recently became a Volunteer Favorite and they shared, "Sweetie is a champion jogging partner and co-pilot in the car. Also, would easily win a cheese-eating competition!" So, my lovelies, if you are in the market for a fancy pooch like me, then I so look forward to seeing you soon! Love, Sweetie.Check out Sweetie's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMsvWmMvxqk

Story
Argo is a hefty, handsome boy with such soulful, deep eyes. He also has a bit of a worried look as he is just not sure what happened! He was found tied to our front doors and rightfully so, he was worried. We have been giving him time while he adjusts and slowly but surely, Argo is coming around! We are so happy for him, and we are certain that with love, patience and kindness, Argo will totally relax and be the happy boy he wants to be. He is such a great dog that he recently become a Volunteer Favorite and they shared, "Argo is a dog easy to satisfy! All he needs is you and a nice walk and lots of love!" Argo is interested in other dogs and will appreciate slow intros with his canine friends. Argo would like an adult only home where he can settle in at a slow, gentle pace. Please visit him and say hello!Check out Argo's movie! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIjIYcbNvmE

Story
Hello, I am looking to re-home my beloved Staffordshire dog as I cannot take good care for her as I am required to travel for extensive amount of time for work. Rather than giving her up to the shelter. I prefer to find someone who can provide her with much love. A little about her.: She is very friendly with people and other animals. And kids! She loves her naps and cuddles. She is brindle in color, brown/black. She is house trained and can adapt in any condition. She is neutered and healthy. Estimated age is about 7 to 8 years old. Still very active and energetic. She is good with car rides long or short and calm and relaxed. She is also walkable with any person no problem at all (wag/rover) Please contact me as soon as possible as she is needing a place immediately. (xxx) xxx-xxxx *** There will be ID verification, address confirmation, phone number verification and rehoming fee ***

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Rory. This sweet soul was picked up as a stray and ended up in a county shelter already over capacity. He clearly came from a life of isolation and was terrified in confinement. County shelters only have so much room and budget and are dealing with an animal overpopulation problem that shows no signs of correcting. There are many backyard breeders in this region, and there is little education about animal welfare, with no spay/neuter laws or restrictions on dog ownership. Owner surrenders are common, and shelters must prioritize dogs who do well in their environment. Rory did not acclimate well to the shelter. He would hide under his bench in his kennel and didn't want to engage strangers. Shy dogs like Rory have a very low chance of adoption. People want to interact with their potential pup and feel a connection. And, just being a ‘Pittie” means he already has a more limited adopter population. After 130 days at the shelter, he was in decline and ended up on the euthanasia list. Luckily, Rory had an advocate in his corner. One of our foster moms, Laine, volunteers at the shelter walking dogs to give them a reprieve from the stress. After her most recent foster pup came up to N. Virginia, we wanted to save another Pittie for her to foster. She told us that Rory’s time was up and she wanted to help him, so Rory officially became a Worthy Dog. Rory has only been in his foster home for two weeks and is showing tremendous progress. After only a few days, we began to see a different dog emerge. He found an immediate buddy in the family dog, Clarysse, and we discovered he loves to play. Rory shares his toys and human affection well and shows a new joyful spirit. Clarysse is helping him build his confidence and work through some fears, and he’s getting used to daily walks, a consistent schedule, family time on the couch, and the noises and cadence of home life. Laine is taking it slow and giving him time to adjust, but he’s doing better than expected.   Foster Mom Update - 12/23/22   “Rory is a very sweet boy and does great with my dogs. He loves his zoomies around the yard and enjoys walks too. We walk as a pack and also go solo sometimes. Rory watches the other dogs and learns from them. He’s doing well with my husband Gary too, and doesn’t seem to be overly fearful of men. He is still scared of sudden noises and movements, but that just takes time and continued exposure to new things..  He’s crate trained and has had very few accidents in the home. His recall has improved and he will come back to me when I call him now.”   We can’t change Rory’s past, but we can help him adapt and prepare for a better life ahead. This handsome boy is pure sweetness and a gem of a pup.. We are looking for an owner with a little patience who has a calm home and another social established dog in the family."   Rory will be coming to N. VA in late January. Apply today!   BREED ESTIMATE: AmStaff Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  52 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 2 years old COAT TYPE:  Short  ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION:  York, SC     FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Story
To learn more about Bingo, please get in touch with his foster at mataloni@verizon.net Introducing handsome Bingo with his gentle, golden brown eyes! Bingo will make a great addition to a calm household. He is a quiet, low-maintenance fellow who has embraced the domestic bliss of his foster home. He has been a great companion for the resident dog and enjoys playing in the house and dashing around the yard. Bingo is shy around new people and still unsure about the outside world, but once he trusts, he enjoys snuggling up on the couch for a Netflix binge. His foster reports that he is very curious and follows her around to check out everything happening. He is independent around the house but also enjoys lying at his foster mom's feet as she works. Bingo has excellent leash manners and is learning that walking in a suburban neighborhood isn't so scary. He would make a great jogging companion once he knows the lay of the land. Bingo's sweet (and sometimes silly) personality shines through more each day; he loves his foster mom's attention, placing his head firmly on her lap to provide gentle licks and receive ear scratches. Bingo will be happiest in a calm home and quiet neighborhood with a patient owner who will give him the reassurance, time, and space he needs to blossom and continue building his confidence.
