Story
We have had Zuko for around 6 weeks now. We adopted him from the local shelter, and he has been an absolute delight. Zuko is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle. We have been diligently working on housebreaking and crate training with him, and he is making great progress. Zuko is a quick learner and aims to please, responding well to basic manners training. He thrives on physical exercise and mental stimulation, and gets along wonderfully with our large dog as well as small breeds. Although we adore Zuko, our demanding schedules prevent us from providing him with the time and attention he deserves to become a well-trained dog. Zuko is a small dog the vet doesn't think he will get much bigger.

** I am currently being housed at our Oglethorpe St location. Come meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW, every day between 12pm-7pm. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. Scotlyn's ear to ear smile will make you do the same! Her jovial spirit spreads to everyone she meets. What a charming pup! Scotlyn was a stray, but she was so happy when we found her. She readily accepted the help and of course that smile told us she was pleased. Scotlyn is super friendly, wiggly and insists on being petted (belly rubs too!) a lot! And she deserves all that love. Scotlyn did great in her short-term foster home. She's house-trained and crate-trained and loves lounging outside. She walks nicely on a leash and is friendly to everyone. She's such a sweetheart! Story
Nash is searching for her forever home! NASH'S STORY: Nash is a sweet pup with an energetic personality! She loves to be very close to you, especially laying with her head on your lap. With high-energy and a high play drive, Nash is looking for a home where she can exercise daily and roam about. Born during COVID, Nash is dog reactive with sight and sound though lived with an exuberantly playful Irish Wolfhound from birth to 2 years and currently resides with a docile, senior Chihuahua. Things to know about Nash's training, are that she was trained as a puppy on all of her basic commands, then worked with a behavioral trainer for over a year on her reactiveness. Most recently, she attended a high-distraction Board & Train Program with an e-collar training methodology. Once in her home, will routinely need to continue working on her response to reactive occurrences. Nash is also housebroken, leash-trained, and crate-trained - even though she stays out while her Owners are away. She's lived with and is good with young kids. Having also lived with cats, she is largely very sweet with them but does try to play sometimes. Ask us to tell you more about Nash! Personality: Sky is a sweet but reactive dog who thrives with an experienced owner familiar with handling dogs with anxiety. Story
Rosie was dropped off into this fosters neighborhood and left to fend for herself after obviously having puppies. She went door to door asking to be let in — it was January and rainy and this indoor girl was beside herself. After 10 days begging for help, she found the right neighbor who gave me a call and I brought her into my foster home. She had terrible skin allergies and was oh so hungry! For months she stared at trucks and on walks sat next to trucks — likely hoping it was her people’s truck and surely they were coming back for her. That was Jan ‘23. Flash forward to now, she is a solid 85# and allergies controlled, fur is gorgeous, and she loooooooooves everyone she meets ESPECIALLY men!!! She gets a daily walk and has become a neighborhood celebrity knowing everybody! Lawnmowing guys, city service trucks, linemen, neighbors…. literally stop what they are doing to come give her some petting and a happy hello! A lonnnng roll in the grass is required before walks are complete. She happily wears her raincoat on rainy days and winter coat in the cold months. Rosie has perfect housemanners and asks for very little. She needs to be the only pet in the house though, preferring to be Queen of her kingdom. She requires monthly meds for allergies. Her mast cell tumor was removed with all margins clear, and her Lymes disease treated. She loves car rides and going into stores and meeting everyone she can. A home where she can be Queen is her dream and mine. A busy foster home that requires her to be kept separated is not the ideal place for this social butterfly. Story
Bo has lived with other dogs most of his life. Kennel trained. House trained. Uses leash harness but does pull if excited and might run if able. Loves people and attention. Likes playing with kids just needs supervision he doesn't get too excited. Gets the zoomies and likes to play but likes his naps too. Gets along with other dogs but needs time to introduce them. We have watched other friends dogs for weeks at a time and depending on the dog he just takes time to warm up but overall friendly and enjoys playing with them. Has anxiety during the fourth of July or fire alarms or the wind. Will try to get out of kennel during that time we usually stay with him and he does well. Hes had regular shots and teeth cleanings. Recommend kenneling if out of the house as has gotten food off of countertops or into snack bags while away. My son has formed an aller and heartbreakingly won't be able to keep him any longer but he has a lot of love and would be a great companion, very loving.

Raven Shanelle is a very sweet intelligent girl. She 5 years old I've had her since she was born to my cousins dog. She gets along with dogs who arent aggressive towards her. She loves to run, play and she loves car rides. I'm searching for a family who has a yard for her to run and time to give her. I'm a widow. I lost my husband a year ago. The house we were in was owned by my mother-in-law who decided to sale it after his death. I end up moving back to my family home where dogs are not allowed.

Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Kids, cats House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Some, when someone is at the door Hi, I'm Ripley! I was once a victim of neglect, but now I'm looking for a loving home where I can blossom. I'm a sweet, gentle girl who needs a confident doggy friend and a kind, patient human to help me come out of my shell and show me how wonderful life can be. I may be a little scared and shy at first, but I promise I'm worth the effort to get to know. When I feel safe and confident, I love freely, craving head scratches, playing with stuffed toys, and having zoomies in the backyard. My favorite thing about myself is how gentle and loving I ama total sweetheart! I have a medium energy level, and I'm both gentle and friendly. I enjoy short walks and zoomies. I'm still working on my training and don't know basic commands yet, but I'm housetrained. On walks, I'm well-mannered, get along with other dogs, and handle distractions like bikes and skateboards pretty well. I can't wait to find my forever home and share all my love! My foster guardian says: Ripley is gentle and loving - total sweetheart. Likes: Short walks, zoomies My ideal home: Id prefer to have an owner who is home often, but Id be good in an apartment and for a first time dog owner. Story
Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Cats, kids House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Some Hey there I'm Gabby, a bubbly mixed-breed pup with a hop in my step and a heart of gold! With my soft speckled white and tan fur and soulful yellow/brown eyes I'm quite the charmer. Despite a shoulder injury in my past I've mastered a unique hop-like gait that sets me apart. When it comes to manners I've got them down pat - no accidents in the house and I prefer to savor my meals rather than scarf them down. Now let's talk about my absolute favorite thing: morning walks! There's nothing that gets me more excited than exploring the world outside. Walks dont have to be limited in time or distance as far as my foster mom can tell: I have the same energy and enthusiasm as any other dog. I'm friendly with other dogs but I can be a bit standoffish at first. I prefer smaller playgroups and may get overwhelmed in crowded dog parks. I love playing with toys and you might catch me zooming around the yard with one in my mouth. I also love a good game of fetch and will always bring the toy/ball back to you. I might even surprise you with how high I can jump! When it comes to affection, I'm all in! I adore cuddles and scratches. I'll also keep you company while you work from home while I lounge on the couch. Need to leave the house? I might whine a bit initially but with a distraction like a tasty treat I'm just fine and quiet down quickly. I'm great at "sit" "come" and "wait", but could use some training on walking on a leash. I am overly interested in squirrels and other small animals but my foster mom is helping me with leash manners and I'm making quick progress. If you're looking for a well-mannered affectionate companion who's always up for an adventure look no further than yours truly. I can't wait to hop into your heart and home! My foster guardian says: Gabby is the absolute sweetest pup and is the perfect mix of active outside but calm and affectionate inside. If youre looking for a sweet little mix breed look no further than Gabby! Likes: Toys, bones, scratches, sunbathing, morning walks, lounging on the couch My ideal home: I am pretty flexible and would be happy in a variety of homes! I've happily lived in the city and in the suburbs, with other dogs and without in the home thanks to my foster families. Hi, Im Mac, a mixed breed around 2 years old and weighing 57 lbs. Im current on my vaccinations, have been dewormed, and tested negative for heartworms. Im known as the sweetest boy who radiates a sense of calm and tranquility. My personality is as sweet as a ripe peach, and my gentleness is a testament to my kind soul. I might be a little shy at first, but dont let that fool you. Once I warm up to you, my cuddly nature shines through, making me the perfect companion for quiet evenings at home. My mellow demeanor is soothing, and I love leisurely walks and peaceful moments that will surely bring serenity to your life. I also get along great with the other shelter dogs.
