Story
Meet Oreo! The sweetest, most lovable 80lbs “lap dog” you’ll ever meet… Despite the fact that she has absolutely no idea she’s not lap-sized. She’s gentle, non-aggressive, listens well, and will happily trade her soul for a good treat. Oreo has been such a joyful part of our home, but life has changed very quickly for us. I’m now caring for my mother after her stroke and juggling life with a new baby, and I simply don’t have the capacity to give Oreo the time and attention she deserves. She would thrive with a loving family who can enjoy her big heart, goofy personality, and endless cuddles.

Story
Meet my girl — a 5-year-old Pit Bull/Staffordshire Terrier with the sweetest heart! I adopted her 6 months ago from a friend, and she’s been nothing but loving and well-mannered ever since. I’m looking for a home that welcomes responsible pet owners and appreciates a calm, affectionate dog. She’s gentle, loyal, goofy, cuddly, and super friendly with people. She loves her walks, naps like a pro, and thinks belly rubs are a full-time job. She’s house-trained, easygoing, and has a very soft, relaxed personality — truly the definition of a good girl. If you’re looking for a sweet, well-behaved companion who brings nothing but love and comfort, she’s the perfect match.

Staffordshire Terrier / Boston Terrier / Pug MIXApproximate Age:   3-4 yearsApproximate Weight:   35 lbsCurrently Living at:   BoardingAdoption Fee:   $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:    Meet Bianca — Your Sweet & Spunky Sidekick!      Looking for a dog who can deliver both adorable zoomies and peaceful snuggle mode? Say hello to Bianca, a young, medium-sized sweetheart who is basically the canine version of a warm, wiggly hug. This affectionate girl loves her people with her whole heart. She’s playful, but she also settles down beautifully once she’s gotten her energy out. She previously lived with an older dog, so she’s learning her doggy etiquette—but she’d love a confident canine sibling who can continue showing her the ropes.     Bianca is completely housebroken (gold star ), walks nicely on leash (but may turn into a tiny sled dog when she spots something interesting), and is ready to be your loyal shadow.  Because city life would overwhelm her, Bianca is seeking a calm, suburban-style kingdom—a single-family home with a fenced yard where she can trot, sniff, sunbathe, and work on her good girl skills without the hustle and bustle.     Her current family loves her deeply but must rehome her due to serious medical issues, so they’re hoping she finds a home overflowing with kindness, playmates, and comfy places to nap. If you’re searching for a lovable companion with the perfect mix of fun and chill, Bianca is waiting to wiggle her way into your heart. Apply today!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Barks occasionally My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Vela is how hard she tries to be a lap dog! Likes: Hikes, playing at the dog park, riding in the car, snuggling   Hi, Im Vela (rhymes with Shelia)! Im a super happy, playful girl who absolutely loves her people. Seriously, if you look up loyal in the dictionary, Ill be there. Well, okay, not actually. But I could be! Even though I have a certain love for my person, Im a friendly lady with other people too! I like to make friends on walks and at the park. I love to play with other dogs, and have a great time at daycare while my foster mom is working. Im also crate trained, and good about staying home alone if it isnt a daycare day. I love snacks and toys, and as queen of the house, I believe that I should have as many of both as I want! Im sure my future subjectser, family, will agree. Im a smart cookie, and Ive already learned a bunch of new tricks since coming to D.C. I know sit, stay, off, and leave it. Im also totally crate trained and potty trained. Id like to learn a lot more tricks with my new forever family, so get your treats ready! So if youre looking for a spunky cuddlebug who will keep the couch warm while youre at work, and greet you with all the joy in the world when youre back, look no further! For real-a, you need a Vela! Story
Stella is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Stella is one of the most low maintenance fosters I've ever had the pleasure of helping find a forever home. From being a shy, scared, and timid girl to being confident, secure, and well-mannered, Stella has grown so much in the 2+ years I've known her; although the vacuum cleaner is still enemy #1. Stella has lived in all types of settings: in a busy city, in an apartment, on a quiet street, with dogs, with reactive dogs, and easily adapted to her home environment. She is crate trained and LOVES having a bed in her crate to curl up into a donut while you're at work. She knows every basic command like sit, down, touch, stay and is fully potty trained. Stella's favorite toy is a lambie, or something else that is tiny that she can carry around in her mouth. Once, she took care of an egg for 6 hours before it broke, she's the most gentle creature. Stella is made of love and French fries. There's nothing more that she wants than to be inside with her people, cuddled up on the couch with a show, or playing sous chef in a calm kitchen. She takes awhile to warm up to her people, but with some french fires (her favorite is Burger King), some space, and a bit of patience, she'll love you unconditionally and will likely knock you over from wagging her tail and wiggling so hard with excitement every time she sees you. Although Stella is a perfect girl in the home, on leash, and with other dogs, she is scared of human strangers, especially masculine presenting people, and will need a strong advocate to help keep her safe. If you're looking for a great addition to your calm and cozy life with unconditional love to give, Stella is the gal for you. Stella would do best living with queer folks, a home without cis-gendered men, without cats, and without small children. ATTRIBUTES: Stella has lived in foster with other dogs, but can not go to a home with kids, cats, or cis-gendered men. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
