I'm all about the good vibes—gentle treat-taking, lap snuggles (don't tell me I'm too big to fit on your lap, because I'll prove you wrong), family car rides, and yard shenanigans are totally my jam. Whether I'm free-roaming at home or chilling in my open-kennel palace, I've got the relaxation game on point. And, let's not forget the bedtime adventures—snoozing in bed with my favorite humans is a must! Now, let's talk about my inner adventurer.  Walks? Count me in! Playing with toys and chewing on bones? Oh, you bet! I might not be into the whole "bring the ball back" thing, but throw it, and I'll give you a hilarious chase. When it comes to new folks, I will bark, especially if they show up on my turf. Just keep those introductions slow and supervised, and we'll be best buds in a flash. I do much better meeting new people on neutral territory. I can be more cautious around men, and if there's any arguing or kids wrestling, I'll play referee and check if anyone needs help. A home with older, dog-savvy kiddos (maybe above 10) is where I'll shine brightest. I'm not the biggest fan of cats, so a cat-free zone is ideal.  I can get startled by outside noises and will get vocal at times, so a home without shared walls will be best.  I have lived with dogs in the past and have done well.  Do you think I could be the pup for you? I am a ball-obsessed, outdoorsy, food-motivated, nose-oriented, cuddly, no-one-is-a-stranger-for-long kind of dog. On the flip side, I can be a bit overly exuberant in my greetings and easily distract-able. Like the beloved lab! Since coming to my foster home, I have been learning a lot. I've been picking up cues quickly, leaning into a routine with kenneling, and learning how to be a good housemate. I live with 4 humans, 3 dogs ranging from 55 to 9 lbs, and a cat I have yet to meet. Unfortunately for a fun guy like me, the dogs here are all seniors. I tried to get each of them to play, but was denied. So we happily co-exist. My main source of fun is walks and going to sniff spots for long games of fetch. Meet Root Beer! This 2 yr old Handsome Hunk has the sweetest puppy dog eyes. He loves all toys and when he's really excited, he has to pick up one to show it off. Root Beer loves to get pets and will rest his head on your lap if he wants more. He's great in the kennel and sleeps in it overnight without a peep. Root Beer has done well with other dogs but doesn't like to share toys. He's done best with the female dogs in his foster home. Hey friend! My name is Burton. I am a hunky boy with lots of love to give. What's the perfect home for me? I need to be the king of the castle so to speak, which means I need to be an only pet. I have a pretty intense prey-drive so I definitely can't be around kitty friends. I have trouble with other dogs because I never learned proper boundaries when I was young. At my age it's just best that I be your one and only. I am super smart and love to learn new things. My foster family taught me how to run on a treadmill and I am awesome at it.
