Story
Knickerbocker .... a name fitting for a chap whose stubby legs are too short to fit into regular pants 😊😊😊 wait, there's more. It is quite an endearing sight to watch him run. His little legs are just flailing all over the place. Too cute!!! His personality ... now this is something to get serious about. He is so very sweet, affectionate, and so people oriented. He is all about his people. Knickers can be quite a heartbreaker. When he is wrapped around you in your arms or lap, all you want to do is gaze into his gorgeous face. He gazes right back. And then he tries to sneak in unrefined sloppy kisses. Sometimes, he comes at you fast too, so be warned! It is always a Cleopatra and Mark Antony moment with him

Story
Did someone say squeaky toys? Better watch out! Moose is coming for ‘em! 😊 The love story between Moose and his squeakies is a tear jerking one. Moose loves squeaky toys more than life itself. He will carry around that squeaky in his mouth. He will run with it, sleep with it, play with it, or fetch with it. But in the end, he will tear it up, rip it apart and attempt to eat the squeaky! Oh no, no foreign body surgery for you buddy! He can only have a squeaky toy when he is closely monitored. The only other thing that could rival squeakies are big balls he can chase or kick around. This kid has a secret inspiration to be David Beckham 😊 Balls are great because he can’t destroy them like squeakies! Moose will try to engage his humans in plays but if you are not in an engaging mood, Moose will entertain himself. Moose is quite independent, but he likes to have an open view of his humans 😊 He will still bring you his toys, to show them off, to let you know happy he is, or that it is time for new ones 😊 When not busy tending to his toys and balls, Moose is an avid trick learner. He will sit, listening and watching intently to try and learn a new trick, for as long as it takes. He is a smart one. He learned how to give paw in one 20 minutes training session! Because Moose is easily distracted by everything, he doesn’t walk well on a leash. He is a puller :/ Good news is, it should be quite easy to teach him how to walk like a gentleman. Moose is a 1.5-year-old 70lb Staffy mix. He is looking for a family who can guide him out of his puppy stage and show him good behaviors. Moose is still learning what are acceptable behaviors. Sometimes, he is just a curious oversized puppy and gets into things :/ Moose is housebroken, and crate trained. Moose has occasional allergies. His eyes get goopy but quickly resolved with Benadryl. He takes medication like a champ 😊

Story
Meet Pete, a charming 4-year-old American Staffordshire mix eagerly seeking his forever home! With just a few weeks left in his 12-week stay-and-train program, Pete is counting down the days until he can embark on his next adventure with his new family. To arrange a meet-and-greet with Pete, please contact Rachael at 440-773-0270. Pete has already mastered basic obedience commands like heel, sit, and down, and he's currently honing his stay duration skills. He also keeps his area very clean which indicates he is housetrained and is great in his crate! Plus, he's a pro at giving his paw for treats - such a clever boy! Pete's favorite pastime? Playing with balls! However, his enthusiasm can lead to many balls being shredded, so he'll need tough, indestructible, larger balls to keep him entertained. We have recently learned that Pete likes doggie friends and wouldn't mind sharing his new forever home with one! He also showed his playful side with a kitty he met. His initial shyness around new people quickly fades, revealing his affectionate and loving nature. Pete's athleticism is impressive - he can jump quite high when he's excited - but he responds well to gentle reminders to calm down. Pete would thrive in a home with owners willing to continue his training journey. If you're ready to welcome this sweet and playful pup into your life, don't hesitate to reach out to Rachael to schedule a meet-and-greet. Pete can't wait to meet his perfect match!

Story
Everyone has heard of Scarlett O’hara from Gone with the Wind, but have you heard of Scarlett "No Hair” from MBR? Let us introduce you to the most adorable hairless Pitbull mix we’ve ever seen. Scarlett came into the rescue with a pretty bad case of mange. She has been living in her foster home and receiving treatment for her skin condition and has made so much progress over the last couple months. She will no longer be Scarlett “No Hair”, as her skin is improving and her fur is starting to come back in. She is looking more and more like a happy go lucky puppy every day. Scarlett is approximately 6 months old, 20 pounds, and is your typical puppy. She loves to play with her foster siblings and has learned to respect their boundaries. Since she is only 6 months old, she is getting better with potty training but occasionally has an accident. She does wonderfully in her crate while her foster mom is at work and during the night. She truly loves her people and likes to be touching at all times. Hopefully you have a spot in your home with Scarlett’s name on it. She’d make a wonderful addition to any family! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 6 months as of Aug 1 Adoption fee: $500

Story
Meet Bella! This girl is around six years old and came to us from a rural shelter after her owner passed away. Bella hasn't let that get her down, though! She is super sweet and cuddly. She will army crawl towards you and thinks her 50lb body is made for laps. She will happily sleep in your bed, if you let her! She also really loves belly rubs! She enjoys car rides, walks and being outside! She is a very good girl who is crate and house trained, although she has not been destructive when left out with no supervision. Bella would most likely do best in a calm house as she isn't a fan of loud noises. She does well with other dogs her size, but no kitties or small dogs for Bella. Story
Grey is such a bro. Grey is a male American Staffordshire terrier that weighs 61 pounds. He is estimated to be 2 years old. Grey was found as a stray and no one claimed him. He was very thin upon intake and just plain sad. In the few weeks that he has been with us, he has eaten and gotten much needed TLC. He has gained some weight and is overall a body wiggle pro. He is very strong on leash and would benefit from general obedience and manners. He is a full upper body workout. He will work your core, shoulders, back and patience. His giant blockhead is almost as big as his heart. He is very loving and friendly. He loves to be outside. A fenced in yard is ideal for Grey. He has a medium energy level. Because he was a stray, we don’t know anything about Grey’s background. Compatibility with children, cats, and dogs is unknown; no small children please. At the shelter, he is unphased by the other dogs. As always, a meet and greet with your dog is required. Grey is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and a microchip. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Grey. Grey's adoption fee is $160. Grey is the type of dog that will gladly accompany you on the couch to watch movies. But when you get up to get a snack, you gotta find another spot to sit because he has taken over the whole couch. Such a bro. He can be adopted outside of Parma.    October 3, 2024, 7:41 pm

Story
If you look up the word “snookums” in the dictionary, you will see a picture and description of our Tabitha. Tabitha is a total darling. Tabitha is a female American Staffie terrier  that weighs around 55 pounds. She is estimated to be 2-3 years old. This baby is precious on the inside and outside. She was found as a stray tied up outside at a local gas station. We will never know why she was left there but what we can say with certainty is that Tabitha is deserving of a loving home. Her past is in the rearview mirror. She is only looking forward, demonstrating the resiliency and loyalty of dogs. Tabitha is very submissive and has demonstrated great potential with other dogs. As always, your resident dog must interact with Tabitha to ensure everyone gets along. Compatibility with cats and children is unknown. This girl is very low maintenance. She is happiest sitting with you outside in the park watching everyone walk by. She knows no strangers. She is just a doll.   Tabitha has a torn ACL in her back leg. We are seeking a foster to adopt home where she can rest and convalesce after ACL surgery which we will cover. She doesn’t quite understand the whole “stay calm” mantra and occasionally bursts into zoomies but for the most part is a compliant patient. She is so happy to play with toys too. Her tail wags non-stop. The shelter will also ensure that Tabitha is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm tested. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Tabitha. Tabitha’s adoption fee is $160.    October 3, 2024, 7:41 pm

Story
This beautiful 2 year old brindle beauty is Violet! Violet is a 2 year old pittie and is full grown at 60 lbs. Violet has such a beautiful soul! She's a very shy girl, but once you spend some time with her and get that first tail wag, your heart will just melt. Violet recently went to the vet and did great at her appointment! It was her first time going to the vet ever, because in her past life she was used for breeding and never got medical done. Violet was quiet and stoic getting all of her shots and even her heartworm test done which was negative. Good job, Violet! Violet recently moved into a foster home where is is doing great! She is learning all of the good things about living in a loving home for the first time. She can't wait to find a forever family who will give her the happy ever after that she deserves. If you'd like more information on Violet, email us at therescueinn@gmail.com or complete an adoption application: https://therescueinn.com/adoption-application.html

Story
This kid is an absolute riot! He is a year old going on 3 months! Those long, clumsy legs of his gets him places so swiftly he’ll probably knock you down if you are in his way :)He is full of enthusiasm, playfulness, joy and absolute glee :) Every day is a good day for JuJu. Every day you will find JuJu romping around, exploring all he can explore, taking in all the sniffs and sights. When JuJu isn’t exploring, he is snuggling right next to you. He is noticeably more comfortable with women than men. Perhaps there was some mistreatment in his past by a man ? Treats with slow approach seems to be the trick at initial meets with men. Watch the puppy in him come out and soon his innate bouncy, happy self comes alive :) JuJu is about a year old, 60lbs Boxer Staffy mix. He is looking for an active home where his silly, bouncy, enthusiastic ways are embraced, cuddles and snuggles afterwards are met. JuJu has so much potential to be dynamite. He is a shiny star. He wants to shine with you.

This kid … Oh my goodness, isn’t he the sweetest thing. Calm, collected, gentle, well-behaved and so very sweet. I want to scoop him up and smother him with love and kisses every time! ❤ He doesn’t mind it one bit! He kisses you right back😁 You can have conversations with friends over dinner and drinks, read a book in solidarity or be glued to your favorite Netflix series for a couple of hours and Gideon will just lay nicely and quietly beside you. Sometimes, you forget he is even there. If you are into doggie cuddles, you will make Gideon very happy. Oh, and belly rubs. Gideon is a sucker for belly rubs. If you are out and about, Gideon stays close to you. He is still learning to walk on a leash. He doesn’t pull at all, he just tries to walk so close to you (like touching your leg) that you sometimes have to swerve a little just so you don’t collide. What’s cute about Gideon’s gait is he walks like he is strutting his stuff😊Gideon loves the company of doggie friends. He lights up when he sees another dog. He trots over nicely to say hello. He plays well with every dog he meets. He is even tolerant of the rambunctious ones. Dogs seem to bring out more confidence in Gideon. He is a little more active when in the company of dogs🤪 Gideon is a little over a year old, 45lb and looking for a relatively low-key family who enjoys leisure walks, play time (watch him, he has an affinity for pebbles – shhh he likes to chew them) and cuddles. Gideon is so well behaved, you can take him anywhere and everywhere and know that he will not embarrass you in public😃 This boy is a true gem. P/S His best friend is Pavarotti. The boys hope they can be adopted together❤

Story
Failed attempts at making it as an opera singer has got Pavarotti rethinking his career path. And he found one. Being your ESA! His skill is parking his butt wherever you are. You can be sitting, standing, or squatting, and Pavarotti the Faithful, will be right there beside you. He likes to sit side-saddle most of the time. So cute! He sits and just looks ahead. Not a beep from him. If you wrap your arms around him, he will turn around and kiss you all over your face, sometimes leaving traces of slobber to trickle down your cheeks and chin. EEW, we know 😊😊😊 If you are sleeping, he sits beside you too, but he will eventually get the cue that he can lay down, too. No need to stand guard so vigilantly. Pavarotti loves it when people come to visit. Be sure to warn your guests, Pav Man likes to jump up to greet sometimes. He is so grateful for visitors. Like his buddy Gideon, Pav loves doggie friends. He gets along with all dogs and is very tolerant of the rambunctious ones. He is learning how to play fetch. He is learning to grasp the concept that when you throw the ball, he is supposed to go after it, not look at you like, ‘why did you throw the ball?’. Pav walks rather nicely on a leash. Pavarotti is about 1.5 years old, 45lb. He is looking for a family who he can chill with, hang out with, follow around, sit with, give slobber to. He wants to be your best friend. A family with a dog is most welcome so please consider adopting his bestie, Gideon. They are 2 peas in a pod. When both pups are this awesome, two is certainly better than one 😊
