Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.   Meet Godiva!  Godi is the cutest 'little' pup who was rescued off the streets as a singleton pup who was only 3 weeks old and thankfuly we happened to have just rescued an adult dog who was lactating and was able to be a surrogate for this little girl to survive and thrive. As of 3/19 this girl is now 3 months old and just reached 20 pounds, we think this girl wil grow to be in the 60-80 pound range. Although she does resemble an anatolian shepherd or chinook she is probably a shepherd mix.Godi is a very social, loving, playful pup with no behavioral issues as she is just your normal typical happy pup waiting to find a fantastic family of her own. Godiva is crate trained and is now able to hold 4hrs stints at night without a pee accident. Soon she will be able to reach a whole night sleep without having to have a pee break, but until then we are looking for a family who has a work schedule conducive to adding a young pup into their family. She's of course amazing with ALL dogs and has not shown any alpha or submissive tendencies, she is just looking for friends. She is safe with cats just excitable to go say hi, she would need to be slowly introduced to cats who will be uncomfortable with happy playful fast moving Little doggos coming their way. Godiva is ready to be adopted today to an approved applicant however, adopters must be in San Diego on Monday 4/1/24 when she has a pre scheduled spay appointment and can't reschedule that appointmen. Adopters would be requested to bring drop off and pick up on that surgery day in order to be able to move forward to adopt her. The spay surgery is in the 92104 zip code   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. Story
Jack is a 16 month old male Anatolian Shepherd/German Shepherd mix with a sweet disposition - very loving and playful. He weighs approximately 115 lbs. Jack is very energetic and needs a large property to run and exercise. He is a good watch dog and not an incessant barker. Jack's mix breed makes him a loyal companion and very intelligent. He was housebroken very quickly and trained to use the bathroom in one designated area of our yard. We are heartbroken that we have to rehome Jack but due to a recent health diagnosis, it would be challenging for us to keep him.

Story
Patterson got his start with us as a stray puppy (6 months old) that was hiding on the upper floors of new development construction.  He could be seen cowering in corners, darting when people arrived.  He would not let people get close but stayed for scraps they left behind.  Once humanely trapped he was processed through the shelter hoping an owner would come.  No one showed, he was shut down and the shelter life sealed his fate if not pulled out.  His captor saved him again and gave him a place to land and start over.  Patterson, just a puppy, arrived withdrawn, fearful and checked out.  However, his youth would carry him through it.  His curiousity of what other dogs were excited about soon overrode his fear.  He slowly started looking forward to interactions, treats and play dates.  He has steadily gone from fear of everything to not enough to explore.  He is still young and dumb.  His lack of socialization can get him into trouble at times with dogs.  However, he is extemely sensitive, eager to please and suspect quick to train.  In the right hands, with someone that respects his past and lack of foundation the sky will be the limit.  If that person is not you but you want a loving companion with tons of energy but bagage you can manage, he's the guy for you too.  He is an easy keeper that just wants to be loved, with his people and safe.  He's still a baby so has the go but can also chill.  He's spent the last year getting ready for you to take him to the next level and make him yours. Flight Risk: do not leave unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures. Must be aware of open doors and windows.  NEVER offleash in unfenced areas for life.To adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/37765/genericTo foster: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/37764/genericEmail: awayhomefordogs@gmail.com ##1338996##

Story
Totem came from a Craigslist ad in Temecula California. He just turned 2 years the first week of March 2024 and he's 68 lbs/perfect health. He's been well cared for in a loving home since he was 8 weeks old. We moved from a 2.5 acre horse ranch to a normal sized backyard. Totem isn’t getting the exercise and attention that he used to. He's a super sweet boy, loves to cuddle, enjoys chew toys, loves to play with balls but refuses to return the ball. Totem does well being boarded and at the dog park, although he can be timid at first or bark if another dog is aggressive towards him. He's lived with other dogs, cats and kids. He does like to jump up on you for attention but he knows redirect commands. Challenges: Totem will bark in his yard if he hears intruders; but he's easily redirected with finger snaps. He will pee when scared or excited sometimes. Ideal Home: Active family, ideally with pets

Obi came to us a few years back, was a volunteer favorite and was quickly adopted.  Sadly his family situation has changed and Obi is back with us looking for a new home.  Obi is a sweet, easy going sort of guy with some leash skills, house training and friendly with people and dogs.  Given Obi’s BIG size he may not be the best fit for a home with small children. Obi is slightly overweight and is looking for an active family to help him get back to his summer beach body.  If an extra-large dog who thinks he’s a lap dog sounds like the right fit for your home, Email dogs@labradorsandfriends.org or fill out our online application at www.labradorsandfriends.org.  Obi is located in Southern California.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 26, 2024, 4:21 pm
