ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. Meet Roscoe! Roscoe is a 1½-year-old, 85-pound Great Dane mix with a big heart to match his size. He may be a little shy for the first few minutes when meeting new people, but once he warms up, he quickly becomes your loyal best friend. Roscoe is a young, playful guy who would love a canine buddy to run and play with. Like many big, enthusiastic pups, he’s still working on his manners and would benefit from continued guidance and training as he grows into his best self. Roscoe’s story started with heartbreak—he was abandoned when his family moved away and left him in the backyard. He ended up on the euthanasia list before finding safety with us, and now he’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will love him forever. Roscoe has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on all vaccines. He also appears to be house trained. With his sweet nature and playful spirit, Roscoe is ready to bring a lot of love (and a little Dane-sized goofiness) into his forever home. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  April 18, 2026, 6:19 pm

Story
Apollo is approximately 1.5 years, around 85 pounds, neutered, fully vaccinated Great Dane/Visla mix breed. He is crate trained and good with potty & leash training~ soon he will be a pro of all three!! He is affectionate, but can be a bit nervous when first met with unexpected changes. Apollo gets along well with most dogs (but we suggest he be paired with a female companion), adults and older children alike. Given his adaptability, he should be able to learn your family’s routine rather quickly and become part of the gang in no time!!! Apollo was discovered in the Tecate neighborhoods. When found He was skinny and suffered from ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis. Fortunately, he is now healthy & flourishing under the loving care of a foster. (June 2025) Apollo has a lot of love to give and longs for a family who can provide him patience, affection and attention he craves. He deserves a warm and loving home where he can feel cherished as a member of the family!!!

Story
Lucky is a 4-year-old stunning Great Dane who is incredibly sweet, gentle, and loving. After being abandoned by her original family, she was taken in by a very generous foster who has given her the safety and care she needed to start fresh. She is wonderful with other dogs and enjoys their company, whether it’s calmly coexisting or sharing space for play and companionship. Like many Danes, she’s a big girl with an even bigger heart — leaning in for affection, soaking up attention, and just wanting to be near her people. Lucky truly deserves a forever family who understands the commitment of owning a giant breed and can give her the time, stability, and love she’s always deserved. She’s ready to leave her past behind and step into a future filled with comfort, kindness, and belonging. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this gentle giant, Lucky is ready to meet you. Lucky will come with on leash training. She is dog-friendly, we believe she is kid friendly as well.

Story
Meet Toby! This sweet boy was rescued from the streets of Mexico after likely being hit by a car and damaging his two front legs. He's a friendly, gentle boy who is dog, kid, and cat-friendly. He prefers cat companions who are dog-friendly. Toby rides in the car well. He is estimated to be around 1.5 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. Our guess is he is a lab/shepherd blend. Toby has recovered and walks well; he is working on his leash skills and crate skills and is house-trained. He loves playing with his toys and romping around with other dogs. Toby is a bright and gentle boy who deserves the warmth of a loving family. Could that be you?
