Story
The perfect family dog! Ahoy, mateys! My name is Captain, and I’m a three-year-old, 84-pound Great Dane Mix male.  I’m a proud TVT survivor and have already been neutered.  I’ve come all the way from the streets of TJ (along with my pal, Marvel), and I’m currently on the lookout for the perfect home.  I’m a sweet and quiet boy who just wants to be loved.  I have a chill and calm demeanor, and I get along with doggies and kiddos of all ages.  My favorite activities include going on walks, being outdoors, and play-wrestling with my humans.  I’m happiest, though, when all my family is home and giving me all their love and attention.  As far as training goes, I’m mostly potty-trained, but I’ll still mark other indoor spaces when in new environments.  I’m working on leash-training (I still pull a bit here and there), but I have no doubt I’ll master it in no time. What I’m focused on most right now, though, is my moderate separation anxiety.  I can become pretty destructive to the home when left alone, so it’s best for me to be left in a crate.  I’m also good at finding ways to escape when I’m by myself, so it’s highly recommended that I’m not left behind for long periods of time.  It’s also a good idea that my new home have a high and sturdy fence to ensure I stay safe and secure. My ideal home would be one that has someone at home most of the day to give me company. I have a lot of patience (especially for little kids), so I’d do well in a house with or without children.  Other than that, I’d thrive with someone who can give me enough love, walks, and patience to work through my separation anxiety issues. Are you ready to steer the ship over to meet me? My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/. ##2021164##

Email for details: This pet is available for adoption in a foster home. If you're interested in adopting, please call us at 619 299 7012 or email us at sdcadoptions@sdhumane.org and leave a good call back number. How George arrived: George was brought in by a community member. At SDHS: George has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered and is now ready for his new home! Why George might be the one for you:Hey, I'm George and I am no small dog. I'm a big, friendly guy who wants to be a lap dog just like those little dogs. I don't know that I don't really fit on your lap and I hope that you don't know that either because I will want to be on your lap - regardless of the fit. I will have a strong emotional attachment to my human (that's you). When I am next to you or on your lap, I'm telling you that I love and trust you. I will be hoping to receive love and affection back from you. Of all the cozy places in my home, no place is better than right next to you. I hope you don't mind. I will probably bury my head in your hands and that means that I'm ready for pets and snuggles. Do you want a great big dog who is a lap dog at heart and acts like one? If so, come and meet me. Beware my head is big and I will bury it in your hands. Gentle George, that's me. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 79 Age: 2yrs 3mths 0wks

Story
Oden is a wonderful and growing Great Dane puppy. He spent the first five months of his life on a 5 to 6 foot chain. So when he arrived at the shelter, he did not have a lot of manners. But he is sweet as all get out. He is loving, playful, and just wonderful! **** Please read adoption information carefully!!!**** Odin is a stunningly handsome little boy -male, 7 months -supposedly pure-bread, -Neutered -Current Weight : 90 lbs, will grow -Crate trained -Potty trained Odin is a big, funny bundle of joy, energy, and affection. He is just a big goofball! Odin is still a puppy, and will continue to grow. He is on the bigger side, but has an abundance of affection and cuteness! Odin is a well-adjusted puppy who has been hand raised. He has never shown any signs of aggression of any kind, including food aggression, although he can occasionally be a little rambunctious. He really thinks that he is a little dog…. ? Odin wants to be a lapdog; he can’t quite figure out why he doesn’t fit in my lap, but he settles for putting his head in my lap, since the rest of him doesn’t fit 😜 Odin is used to playing and sleeping with the other dogs on the property. He is well socialized, both with humans and dogs. While I have never seen him interact with a cat, I have no reason to anticipate a problem. ************************************ ADOPTION INFORMATION ************************************ I only adopt LOCALLY; San Diego and immediate vicinity. Story
*This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Grayson! Grayson is a 9-year-old Great Dane mix who needs a loving new home for his golden years. In May, he was rescued from Apple Valley Shelter and is currently being fostered through Melita's Dream Animal Rescue. His foster mom shares this rave review: "Grayson is a beautiful and goofy sweet boy. Despite his age, he is super spry and has puppy energy when you agree to play tug of war with him. He is a huge goofball, he can walk for days if you let him, and is also a couch potato when you've got other things to do. He loves his toys and is very loving and loyal. Grayson had a full senior exam at Crescenta Canada Pet Hospital (in Glendale) and is super healthy. All he has is a little arthritis which is common for for dogs his size and age, and that doesn't stop him from walking miles and miles if you let him! He has a bunch of fatty lumps which were biopsied and determined to be non-cancerous. His teeth are in really great shape too. Grayson is house-trained and fine when left home alone. He sleeps and waits patiently for me to come back. Grayson gets along very well with my own dog. He's not territorial around food or toys. Grayson would love a home all to himself! I've fostered 8 dogs in total and Grayson is by far my absolute favorite. Easy to handle, easy to love!" To inquire about Grayson, please call or text Shantal at 619-772-4895. *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Story
*This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Lulu! 5-year-old Lulu is a beautiful, affectionate brindle Great Dane who needs a loving home after a divorce dramatically changed her living situation. She is stressed in her new environment, a small apartment with no yard. Her mom is gone up to 13 hours a day for work, and even with visits from a dog walker, Lulu is struggling to adjust to all the recent changes in her life. Lulu is a big couch potato who is very friendly, easygoing, and cuddly with adults. She loves her Lamb Chop stuffie that she carries around with her all the time. Lulu is in good health and already spayed. She goes on 2-3 walks a day around her neighborhood and also plays tug-of-war and ball for short periods of time. Lulu used to live with another dog and got along well. Since moving, she has become reactive on walks towards some dogs but not others. As a precaution, her mom doesn't walk her close to other dogs or take her to dog parks. It's possible that in a different environment with careful introductions, Lulu may again do well with other dogs. She has not been around cats. Lulu is a loving gentle giant who needs a fresh start in a calm home with outdoor space where she can stretch her long legs. She would do best in a home without young children, as their energy makes her nervous. Lulu would be fine with older, respectful children. If you have a Great Dane sized spot in your heart for this special girl, please contact Rachel via email: rachel.l.davis92@gmail.com. *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assesed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

Story
*This is a courtesy listing.* Meet Arlo! Handsome Arlo is an 8-year-old Great Dane that needs a loving new home for his golden years. He and his mom were devoted companions ever since Arlo was a puppy, but sadly, her health has declined, and she can no longer adequately take care of her beloved dog. Arlo is just a big, sweet, silly boy. He just wants a giant bed to lay in and all the human attention he can get. He loves all people but especially lights up when he sees children. Arlo is fine with cats and other dogs and does not pay them much attention. A perfect day from Arlo's perspective: Start with a morning nap. Wake up for a slobbery drink of water and maybe a lunch meat treat for being a good boy, and then it would be time for my lunchtime nap! If visitors come by, I will drag myself up from my nap to insist on pets before returning to bed for my afternoon nap. In the evening, I will stand by the back door, asking to go outside to bark at nothing. After that, I'll eat my dinner before returning to bed for my evening nap. After my evening nap, it's my favorite time: bedtime! All in a hard day's work! Arlo recently moved in with his owner's daughter and is scheduled for a veterinary exam and lab work. As you can see in his photos, he currently has a sore on his left paw that is being treated. Arlo's medical records will be given to his new family. If you have a Great Dane-sized spot in your heart and home for Arlo, please contact Sloan by texting 480-745-0409. *Frosted Faces Foundation has not assessed this dog medically or behaviorally.*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.COURTESY POST: Henry, a majestic Great Dane, is currently in need of a loving and devoted home. Abandoned at a boarding facility in Fontana, Henry has languished in their care for over a year, his heart yearning for companionship. Despite their best efforts, the boarding staff has been unable to find him a permanent home. With a heavy heart, the facility reached out for rescue assistance, but to their dismay, no rescue has yet stepped forward to offer Henry a lifeline. Henry is a gentle and affectionate soul, yearning for a one person family who understands the unique needs of his breed. While he is dog-friendly and enjoys car rides and walks on a leash, he exhibits occasional resource guarding around his favorite person, thats why the boarding facility feels he should be with just one person and be an only dog. It's definitely a behavior that stems from his extended stay in the facility. The ideal family for Henry would possess experience with Great Danes and be dedicated to providing him with the training he needs to regain his confidence and thrive. If you have the space in your home and heart to welcome this deserving boy into your life, please do not hesitate to complete our adoption application. Henry's soulful eyes and wagging tail await someone who will give him the love and security he so desperately deserves.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 10, 2024, 2:52 am

Story
Your Gentle Giant Looking for Love! Hello there, I'm Hippo, a 5-year-old Bull Mastiff mix, a big boy at 92 lbs, and neutered. I was pulled from the Riverside shelter by TAP and I am so grateful for that! I have picked up bathroom manners, working on leash manners. I have separation  anxiety and current medications to help with separation anxiety include Trazodone (~$7.00), Gabapentin (~$13.00), Acepromazine as needed (~$25.00), and Prozac (~$5.00). Monthly cost depending on where purchased and market value.  I may look imposing at first glance, but once you get to know me, you'll see I'm the sweetest and most loveable companion you could ever ask for. I love affection, and snuggling up next to my humans is one of my favorite pastimes. I'm generally friendly with other dogs, but I might need a slow introduction to make sure we're all on the same page. When I'm inside the house, I sometimes get a bit anxious and bark at people passing by, but don't worry – once we're outside, I'll mostly be an observer, calmly taking in the world around me. I can show some leash reactivity though. With some patience, understanding, and positive reinforcement training, I'm sure I can overcome this behavior. I adore outdoor adventures and walks, but I can get a little distracted if there's too much going on around me. I find night walks with minimal distractions to be the best for me. That way, I can focus on our quality time together without getting overwhelmed by everything happening around us. One of my quirks is that I like to playfully bite ankles and wrists when I want to wake you up or just engage in some playtime. I promise it's all in good fun! But for this reason, a family with older kids or adults might be a better fit for me. I would absolutely love a fun-loving home with a yard! Having a safe and secure place to play and explore would make me one happy pup! I'm quite adaptable, so whether you lead an active lifestyle or prefer a more laid-back approach, I'll fit right in. Just as long as I get plenty of love and attention, I'll be content. So, are you ready to open your heart and home to a gentle giant like me? I guarantee that with a little understanding, patience, and love, I'll be the most loyal and loving companion you could ever wish for. Let's embark on this incredible journey together, creating unforgettable memories and forging an unbreakable bond. ##1733826##
