Name: Mae the Meadow Guardian Breed: Anatolian Shepherd / Great Pyrenees Mix Sex: Spayed Female Age: 4 years Weight: 106 lbs Good with dogs? Mae thrives in neutral environments like parks, where she enjoys socializing with dogs. She successfully attends daycare. She just needs a proper introductions to other dogs. Good with cats? Mae is curious and energetic around small animals, so a cat-free home would be best. Good with kids? Mae is wonderfully gentle with children that she knows and would do well in a calm home with an attentive human who provides her with love and support. Energy level: Medium. Mae loves her naps but enjoys bursts of playfulness, like chasing a ball (though she might not always bring it back). Behavioral needs: Mae is a loyal guardian who feels most at ease in a home with a predictable environment and few visitors. She thrives with a mindful adopter who understands her protective instincts and can thoughtfully guide her in meeting new people and dogs. Mae enjoys walks with her harness and leash and needs a strong handler for her size. A fenced yard and a quiet yard would provide her with the perfect space to relax and explore. Animal Characteristics: Mae is a stunning, affectionate dog ready to join you on your adventures. Whether hiking in the mountains, camping, playing in the snow, or snuggling on the couch, she’s the perfect mix of active and easygoing. Mae is fully potty and crate trained but is so well-behaved she can roam freely at home. She’s calm and loving with her people, offering her companionship and devotion in every moment.

Story
Hey there, future best friend! My name’s Sandler, and I’m your typical sweet, goofy pup! I LOVE making my humans happy and will do just about anything for praise (and, okay, maybe a treat or two). I’m super loyal and sometimes a little protective, but mostly, I just want to be by your side. I’m already crate-trained, and I’m working hard on this whole potty-training thing. Right now, I’ll sit by the door when I need to go, but I haven’t quite figured out how to tell you yet—so I still need someone to keep an eye on me and help me learn! Now, full disclosure... I don’t always realize how big I am, and personal space? Never heard of it. I might accidentally plop down on your lap like I’m a tiny puppy (which, let's be real, I am at heart). Oh, and I’ve got a habit of jumping up to see what’s cooking on the counter—what if I miss something delicious?! My humans are helping me learn that’s not okay, so I’ll need someone to keep up my training. Walking on a leash? I’m still figuring it out. Right now, I’ve got this whole fun zig-zag thing going on, but I’m learning with a slip lead! I love other dogs, but sometimes I get confused when they tell me “no” (boundaries are hard, okay?). Because I take my food very seriously, I eat in my crate to keep things fair. I’m cool with sharing toys, bones, and treats, though! I’d do best in a home with a submissive female dog who won’t challenge me at mealtime. Also, no young kids, please—I need an experienced human who understands my quirks and can help me be my best self! Now, here’s the important stuff: I NEED structure, consistency, and a lot of patience. I can’t just go to any home—I need someone who truly understands dogs like me. I also have a little separation anxiety, so I’d be happiest with someone who works from home or can take me to the office. I just want to be near my people as much as possible! I haven’t met a cat yet, but I don’t seem to have that "must-chase-small-fluffy-things" instinct. Oh, and did I mention I love car rides and hanging out on patios? If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving, slightly clumsy adventure buddy—and you’ve got the experience to help me thrive—I’m your guy! Can’t wait to meet you! Love,Sandler ##2295783##

Story
This pup was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. This litter had hair loss that they have been treated for. Their hair is growing back, but it will take some time for their full coats to recover. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2351570##

Shelter Visiting Hours are 12 pm to 4 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please fill out an adoption application at mamcorescue.org or attend one of our Saturday adoption event. Events are held each Saturday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at our office: 2721 W Oxford Ave., Suite 6 Englewood, CO 80110 *In order to protect our puppies, we do not allow puppies to attend open events until they have a minimum of two vaccinations. Puppies who are available, but not listed on our weekly Facebook event, are considered "deposit only" puppies. These puppies will only attend the event IF they are reserved through a deposit. You can check the list of puppies attending the open event by checking the event:https://www.facebook.com/MAMCORescue At MAMCO we understand that in order to continue rescuing moms and babies, we must stretch our finances as far as we are able. For this reason we use variable adoption pricing. By assigning higher adoption fees to high demand moms and puppies, we are able to rescue more families in need. The money raised through these adoptions acts as a benefactor to moms and puppies in our care who require expensive veterinary treatments, have behavioral issues, or need more time to find a home. We often reduce the adoption fees on these harder-to-place moms and puppies to help them find forever families. Adoption fees vary. Applications can be filled out at mamcorescue.org. ##735151##
