Story
Cassie is a retired Service Dog and certified therapy dog who is ready to retire and only spend time with a loving human(s) who’s just for her. She’s the snuggliest of snugglers, perfectly happy to lay at her loved one’s feet forever. She’s a dream on a leash, only pulling if another dog approaches aggressively and she feels the need to defend her person. She needs a home with a human who can be home with her 24/7. Perhaps as a result of her lengthy career (she just turned 8!), she has separation anxiety and cannot handle being apart from humans who love her. She’d be perfect for a work from home human who wants a calm, cuddly, super low maintenance companion or a home schooled family with kids who love to brush her luxe white coat!

Story
Hello there, I'm Ryver. I wandered to a nice person's house along with my 5 puppies. The nice people at the shelter came and got me and thank goodness they did, because my puppies and I were just wandering aimlessly. I'm known for my sweet nature, always ready to share a friendly wag of my tail. I'm a loyal companion, I promise to stick by your side through thick and thin. I'm gentle too, I'll treat your home with the utmost respect. I may be an adult, but that just means I've had plenty of time to learn the ropes of being a good dog. I've got a lot of love to give and I'm just waiting for the right person to share it with. Why adopt me? Because every home needs a Ryver, a faithful friend who'll bring a steady flow of love and loyalty into your life. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2093937##

Hello there, I'm Nile, a puppy full of love and joy. I wandered to a nice person's house along with 4 siblings and our mom. The nice people at the shelter came and got me and thank goodness they did, because we were just wandering aimlessly. I'm known for my sweetness and friendliness. People say I have a heart as big as the river I'm named after. I'm also a loyal friend. I promise to be by your side, wagging my tail to cheer you up on gloomy days. My gentleness is my charm, I'll make sure to handle your slippers with care, and not chew them. Adopting me means gaining a companion who will love you unconditionally, be loyal to you, and bring a gentle warmth into your life.
