Story
Alfie is the sweetest, most loyal boy you’ll ever meet. He’s a true people lover and has a blast playing with his foster siblings outside. Whether it’s cuddling on the couch, chewing on his favorite toy, or going for a long walk, Alfie’s got a zest for life and enjoys every moment. He’s crate-trained and sleeps soundly at night. Alfie is doing great with potty training and is highly food-motivated, which helps him learn quickly. He’s also a bit of a chatterbox, but he’s been an excellent student, especially when it comes to calming down for mealtime in his crate. Although he’s a big boy with plenty of puppy energy, Alfie is a velcro pup who loves being close to his people. He’s still learning not to jump up, so he may do best in a home with older children or adults. Alfie is also adjusting to life with pup siblings, learning to share and be mindful of resources. Because of this, he might do best as an only dog or with a family committed to continuing his training. Alfie is all about showing love and affection, and he’s going to make the most devoted and loving companion for his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate dog, Alfie is the one! ##2295782##

Story
learning to love life. He’s got a heart as big as his paws and is always excited for a long walk or a good game with his favorite Kong. At just 6 months old, he's got all the enthusiasm and energy of a puppy, but he's also learning the ropes of indoor life. While he's still working on sharing his space, Farley thrives as the star of the show and would do best in a solo home without other pets. He’s got some resource guarding tendencies, but with a little guidance, he's all set to be your one and only! Farley’s a huge fan of outdoor adventures and is a social butterfly when it comes to meeting new people and dogs outside the house. He loves playing with his Kong and can’t get enough of those long walks. If you’re looking for a goofy, loyal companion who’s ready to learn and grow, Farley’s your guy! With a little patience and some training, he’ll be the best buddy you could ask for. Ready to make a lifelong friend? Farley can’t wait to meet you! ##2295784##

Story
Hi there, I'm Lizzy! I'm still a pup, so I have plenty of energy for play and adventure. I'm sweet as sugar, always eager to make new friends. I'm gentle with everyone I meet, even the smallest creatures. I'm brave too, nothing seems to scare me. I love to cuddle up after a long day of fun, feeling safe and loved. I'm loyal to a fault, always sticking by my friends. I'm mellow, never getting too worked up over anything. I'd love to share my sweetness, bravery, and loyalty with you. I'm just waiting for my forever home where I can be your faithful companion. Adopt me and let's make some wonderful memories together! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas at least monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. ##1971509##

Story
Meet Toby, our St Bernard, Anatolian Shepherd and probably labrador mix young dog. He's relatively large and behaves like a big friendly guard/livestock dog but is only 70lbs. Here is an adoption profile link to a larger selection of photos. If you are on petfinder or adoptapet, you may only be seeing a few of his photos.https://petlover.petstablished.com/pets/share/1637235https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=1637235&name=Toby He is truly a once-in-a-lifetime type of dog. Holder of the coveted but sensationally elusive squirrel killer award (it was a pretty dumb squirrel to be honest).  Toby is a friendly, playful and very affectionate 2-year-old pup. Toby is your typical mountain pup, he is big, he can be loud but he is also well-behaved. He is in a foster home with the founder of the rescue. Toby is happy to live, hang out, play and go on walks with other dogs. He will literally chew on the same toy at the same time as another dog. Toby also knows how to use a pillow like a human. Toby seems well aware of his size and tends to avoid jumping on people unless encouraged, but even then, he does so gently.  Toby has been around small children without any issues, he's happy to vacuum up all of the dropped food. Toby also went on a roadtrip and got to visit white sands national park, he said it was like snow but warm and not edible. Toby would get to a campsite with his foster, go wander around a place he has never been before for 45 minutes (usually covering 2 or 3 miles) and then show back up at the campsite, in the pitch black. He can wander long distances and never seems to get lost, he once lost his foster dad in a forest outside of Santa Cruz, CA. When his dad hiked the 2 miles back to the car, guess who was waiting next to the car. He likes to bark at cows but he runs away from them if they turn towards him. He may have been an outdoor livestock dog at some point but he much prefers soft beds and pillows these days. He can also sleep on a rock when the time calls for it. Toby is patient with other dogs and does not resource guard.  Here is a video of Toby:https://youtube.com/shorts/PI6H-XSV_Xkhttps://youtu.be/x1xPY8SMHmIhttps://youtube.com/shorts/sxJ3YUF-VTIhttps://youtu.be/8pCzpRlzjZshttps://youtu.be/taYc83d26Ichttps://youtu.be/2K8zo-OLQe4https://youtu.be/_BE_jYzJh6chttps://youtu.be/aNEXxgw_4jQ Toby was picked up as a stray and we don't know anything about his past. However, he was a favorite of the shelter staff in Oklahoma. Toby is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped, ready for his new Colorado home and lifestyle. He is around 2 years old and weighs 70lbs. His adoption fee is $450. Toby knows just how miraculous a turn his life has taken when he was picked out by Havok’s Wolfpack and he is determined to live his new life to the fullest in the most playful and adventurous way, hopefully, with you. If you are interested in adopting Toby, please submit an adoption application here: www.havokswolfpack.com/adopt If your application is approved, we will contact you promptly.  ##1637235##

Story
Super sweet dog, about 10 months old. We were told he was a lab but after DNA testing found he is Belgain Malinois and Husky mix - zero lab! He is soft and cuddly. Has been through 3 intensive dog training programs to be a service dog. That said he has officially failed out of the program. Gets carsick and is distractable. He can do all the basic commands well and is house trained. He is sweet and loves to hang out and is excellent at the dog park. He really wants to be a PET not a working dog. After thousands of dollars on boarding and training, he cannot finish the service program. But he is an amazing PET. Loves kids and other dogs. Gets along with the cat. He is fully vaccinated in every way and neutered. Loves couches!! We are starting over for a service dog as that was what was critically needed and we hoped he would work out. He will be an amazing pet to live with and walk or hike with. GOOFY GOOD BOY!!

Story
Roper was running at large in North Texas and found his happy place at a French Bulldog breeder’s property SO if you see some really big FBs you know who the baby daddy is! He got his name because the sheriff roped him to break up the party. Our founder drove him to Colorado and just because of his size, she said people wouldn’t even make eye contact with her at gas stations, especially when she got him out to tinkle. She felt totally safe with him and so happy to have him along for the ride. He is 80-ish pounds and we think Dane and whatever. Roper has since been neutered, is current on vaccines, and has been working with a trainer on general obedience. His best owner would be alpha and keep up his training. This boy is sweet and athletic - watching him run and play is a beautiful thing. Please email dancingdogrescueco@gmail.com for foster or adoption information.
