Story
“Big baby Burt” is a loving, playful, and curious Dane who is ready to find his perfect home. Burt came to Denver from New Mexico to get a fresh start - it’s a good thing he loves the snow!   Burt only wants to please, and is quickly learning what that means in his foster home. He takes gentle corrections very well, and is starting to realize his size. He warms up quickly, but is shy at first -- cracking into his heart is so worth it and so rewarding, and it only takes a few minutes and a few treats. Given his more timid nature, he is still learning about leash manners and feeling comfortable on walks. As he gains confidence, he will be a lovely walking companion. He has played with big and medium-size dogs, and if he gets too rough with them, takes their corrections to heart. He has started to play while lying down with smaller dogs to make it fun for everyone, and it’s just darling to see. And, he loves toys! Watching him throw them around for himself is so fun - it’s great to see him learn to be silly.  Burt is nervous going down stairs, and will continue to take some coaxing and love to learn that they aren’t scary. He warms up to a few stairs quickly (so if you have a home with a few steps leading outside, that’s ok!), but a flight of stairs is still a challenge for him.  With routine and structure this big baby is well on his way to being a gem of a dog. His manners improve day by day, and he is opening up and showing his loving, silly self. Are you ready for a horse? I mean, uh, a wonderful dog companion? Once you meet him, you’ll fall in love! 55081501 Burt (HW NEG) Neutered - Great Dane Mix - 2 yrs - 97lbs Big baby Burt - https://youtube.com/shorts/ksx-FlWIfnE?feature=share  Catching treats - https://youtube.com/shorts/7rFSTs9su30?feature=share  Belly Rub Burt - https://youtube.com/shorts/gmwLkvCfVWQ?feature=share  Goofy boy - https://youtube.com/shorts/LX9jovXXR_M?feature=share  Playgroup - https://youtube.com/shorts/R3n_fw1ifq4?feature=share  Playgroup -https://youtube.com/shorts/8LLKGht4Jgw?feature=share Playgroup  https://youtube.com/shorts/CHR0RwcPOoc?feature=share  With small dog - https://youtube.com/shorts/TLjiRg6vQK0  Staff notes - Burt is a BIG belly rub baby! He’s such a silly guy and he loves to hop like a kangaroo when he runs and he is very food motivated. He is a submissive gentle giant that loves belly rubs, rolling over, and laying by your side. Story
Roper was running at large in North Texas and found his happy place at a French Bulldog breeder’s property SO if you see some really big FBs you know who the baby daddy is! He got his name because the sheriff roped him to break up the party. Our founder drove him to Colorado and just because of his size, she said people wouldn’t even make eye contact with her at gas stations, especially when she got him out to tinkle. She felt totally safe with him and so happy to have him along for the ride. He is 80-ish pounds and we think Dane and whatever. Roper has since been neutered, is current on vaccines, and has been working with a trainer on general obedience. His best owner would be alpha and keep up his training. This boy is sweet and athletic - watching him run and play is a beautiful thing. Please email dancingdogrescueco@gmail.com for foster or adoption information.

Story
Hi, I'm Eko. I'm a young, gorgeous Chocolate Merle Great Dane! I've got a heart full of love. Meeting new people can be a little scary for me, but with patience and kindness, I warm up. I do good with other dogs. I'm a protective girl, so older children might be best. My previous owner says I'm housebroken and not too bad on a leash. They said I do fine with cats, but that I have a tendancy to chase them (so maybe a kitty free home). I'd love a home where I can relax and get plenty of love! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a monthl. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. ##1980798##

Danny came to us from a horrible situation with four of his siblings but has learned that being at home with people who like you is the good life. He is super chill and the perfect gentle giant. He sits patiently by you waiting for a pet. He loves playing with the other dogs, but often calls or quits to go be with a human.

Story
Eustace AKA Goat is almost a year old and has Auto-immune issues along with HOD. While we were very lucky and caught the HOD early, he will always show signs of this through his deformed limbs. There is always a slight chance that it can come back and his pet parents will need to be very careful with vaccinations due to the auto-immune issues. Eustace LOVES toys, food, playing with others and climbing on his person. Paw Patrol is a morning favorite that he will watch with his little sister. He requires inside and outside toys and will take toys out if he feels there is not enough outside. Laying in the grass is a great day for him and depending on the treats he loves spending time training and pretending to walk well on a leash. Eustace loves everyone once he gets to know them, but the world at large is very scary and he tends to have issues away from his Emotional Support Person. He is currently in training to work on his confidence. When stressed he can often be destructive or not be able to control going to the bathroom. If you think Eustace is your Forever Soulmate please complete an application at https://www.savethegiants.com/adoption-process

Story
Daisy is on a temporary medical hold due to needing some dental work. But please don't let this stop you from putting in an application. She would love to know her home is waiting for her. Daisy is almost 8 years old - Great Dane. She is very laid back and is currently learning to play with toys and hanging with her people. Currently in her foster home she is living with 2 corgi’s and 4 chihuahua mixes as well as several cats. She is very laid back and does well with others. She does like to announce new arrivals, but once they are in she is good. Daisy’s Back Story: Daisy originally was with a backyard breeder. She was a breeder dog who didn't produce high enough so they got rid of her on craigslist. A veteran saw the post, took her to try to save her and surrendered her to us. When she was living with the veteran, a Pity and a German Shepherd for a bit. This sweet and amazing girl is currently living with cats, small dogs, and medium dogs and she is appreciating the good life. Daisy is looking for her Forever Home. If you are interested in SWEET DAISY, please complete an adoption application at https://www.savethegiants.com/adoption-process .

Story
Ziggy Stardust is all Great Dane - a Pocket Great Dane. She was owner surrendered and believed to be about 4 years old. She is timid and in good health, up to date on shots, and she is heartworm negative. Her Foster Mom tells use that she gets along with everyone. She is so sweet. And in a short time she has already earned to be free roam in the house. She can be a little standoffish but warms up quickly (this is fear-based not aggression-based). She is super sweet according to everyone that has fostered her, transported her. If you are interested in adopting Ziggy please complete an application at www.savethegiants.com
