Story
James here! I'm just another friendly dog at the Shelter looking for a good fur-ever home. My owner dumped me and left me all alone to fend for myself. I act like an inside/ outside dog, so I wouldn't do well all alone. So, the Shelter took me in to find me a better owner, one who deserves my love and affection! I love car rides, and I can shake, sit and load-up. I also like my toys. I am playful, fun and not aggressive at all. Hope to see you soon! I am being fostered in TN right now but no worries because we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
To learn more about Kimmee, please get in touch with her foster family at krvanvliet@gmail.com Meet the marvelous Kimmee! This girl is a true sweetheart and a super well-behaved dog. She is housetrained. She gets along well with other calm dogs and has done well with the children she has met. She enjoys playing with toys, going on walks/spending time outdoors, and also just being by your side. She is a bigger girl, and while she could manage apartment living, she would do best with a fenced-in yard. Kimmee is building her confidence daily and eagerly awaits her forever family. This gentle, calm dog would be a great companion for a loving human.

This gentle giant is ready and waiting to find a forever home he can call his own. He is smart, loyal, and absolutely loves people. He would love to be the only pet at home and will need a strong owner who is familiar with the breed. He is a big guy, so he will need plenty of room to run and play. Unfortunately, he is not a fan of other dogs, but has plenty of love for his people. If you are ready for lots of love and bear hugs, Kodiak is the one for you!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well-socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.  Foster ProgramFoster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me! Make a tax-deductible donation today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/. Story
Shane….is a handsome 10 month old Anatolian Shepherd mix that is 80 pounds of goofball youth and innocence.  He was originally owned by a  young man who didn’t have a clue on owning such a big and imposing dog.  He tied Shane out and that was his way of owning this gorgeous and needy dog.  Shane needs a good foster or an adopter to shape him in to the spectacular dog that God created him to be.  Yes, he is big…. And a bull in a China shop at times, but with a training knowledgeable home, he will be brought to a discipline and training place with fabulous results.   He will be a 100 pound dog ultimately and  gorgeous. Please offer your help to foster at least, if you cannot adopt.   Contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you want to adopt or to foster.  He needs some solid help for a short time in foster care or a direct adopt.September 22, 2023, 9:55 am

Story
Come meet adoptable dogs every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at our Adoption Center located at 11116 Fairfax Station Rd. Fairfax Station, VA 22039. We can also schedule time to meet a specific dog at the Adoption Center during the week by appointment - just fill out the application and we will follow up with you! For animals in foster homes, please submit an online application and a member of our Adoptions team will reply with next steps. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail it to: barroso.selma@gmail.com Sudi is a super amazing dog from Iran , where she endured horrible cruelty that we cannot even begin to fathom. As a working farm dog, when she did not perform to her owner's satisfaction he cut off her front paws, dragged her behind a car and hit and kicked her. How she lived we do not know. But thankfully, an Iranian loving person rescued her and through a lot of hard work, Sudi left Iran for Canada and then made her way to us here at Homeward Trails. She recently was fitted for prosthetic feet and is doing remarkably well in them, getting a new lease on life that allows her to be more mobile. While we thought she may need hip surgery to replace her hip socket, we are currently waiting on that per her veterinarian orthopedist's suggestion to have a specialist determine if it is workable. For now, she remains on pain meds and steroids to address the issue, which may end up being her long-term solution. Sudi needs an adoptive family. She is great with all people but does not like other animals enough to live with them. It may be her low-level pain or fear but we have tried and we now know she wishes to be an only animal. This girl is a truly remarkable example of endurance and spirit. That she even trusts humans at all after what has been done to her is truly, truly inspiring. She will do best in a home with few stairs - or least a home where she can get inside/outside without many. She would love a yard where she can lounge in the sun. Whatever orthopedic issues come her way in the near future in terms of surgery will be covered by Homeward Trails. We are proud to partner with the following veterinarians who offer a free first exam for your animal, exclusively for HT adopters: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Sunshine Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals. Additionally, any VCA hospital will cover illnesses up to $250 at no cost to any Homeward Trails adopter. We also provide free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting - just for HT adopters in the Arlington/Alexandria/Falls Church/DC area. Start your new dog out on the right foot with this valuable, expert guidance FREE! You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters.
