Story
Highway (HWY) is a very good-looking boy. He is very high Anatolian Shepherd. He was fully vetted 9/18/24. 19 weeks old as of 11/1/24. Weighed 18.9 lbs when vetted. He is growing fast. Est 30 -35 lbs now on 11/1!24. HWY was named Highway because he was found on Highway 51. in West TN. A girl that his foster mom knows saw a car pull over on the side of the highway and put him out. She pulled over and saved him. He was really scared when we first got him. He has come a long way but can still be shy at times. He needs someone willing to be patient with him. He catches on pretty quick. He’s playful and knows “ sit” already. He loves other dogs. Walks really well on leash. He actually would do very well with an avid walker/runner. He does likes o ride in the car. He will require additional potty/house training as he is still a pup. HIGHWAY is located in Ripley, TN. (West TN). Contact Lisa at 731-499-0739 or oatsvall973@yahoo.com Out of state transport can be arranged, cost is $185.

🚨 GRU – SURRENDERED AND OUT OF TIME 💔 🚨 Gru’s story breaks our hearts… He came into the shelter as a stray, and when his microchip led us back to where he came from, his family chose to surrender him instead of bringing him home. 💔 Now this big, gentle boy sits waiting, confused and heartbroken — wondering what he did wrong. Gru is sweet, affectionate, and LOVES to cuddle despite everything. He walks great on leash, adores treats, and has become the best puppy pal in the shelter. 🐾 He’s strong, loyal, and full of love to give. Gru deserves a family who will never give up on him. Please — don’t let this incredible dog fade away in a shelter. 🐾 Friendly with dogs 🐾 Walks great on leash 🐾 Loves to cuddle 🐾 Up to date on vaccines ⏳ GRU’S TIME IS RUNNING OUT PLEASE HELP THIS BOY HE IS SO CONFUSED TEXT KAREN 4136298152

Meet Mae, URGENT THIS SWEET GIRL WILL NOT DO WELL IN BOARDING, PLEASE HELP! 8 y/o - spayed (HW+ on treatment) apx 60 lbs No cats or very small dogs Foster says: Mae is a loving, loyal, and playful girl who was slated for euthanasia in an overcrowded NC shelter. Mae loves car rides and tearing apart stuffed toys. she always wants to be close by her person (but not quite on top of you). She knows basic commands and does well being bathed. She is well house trained and will communicate that she needs to go outside with restlessness, pointing, and whining. Mae is not vocal unless she has something she needs. She would love most to have access to a yard yet does wonderful in my apartment anyway. Most of her day is spent napping but she is quick to play with you when it is initiated despite her mild arthritis in her back legs. She is tolerant around other social dogs that are medium-large sized, but no small dogs, cats, etc. She will likely do best as the solo pet in the home in a calm, low-moderate activity household. Mae is currently located in a foster home in NC where she was saved and will be transported to the north/northeast when she has a forever home to go to, the foster is in school and can’t take with her. She need help fast! TEXT KAREN 4136298152

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tide and his siblings were saved from a high-kill shelter in Calfornia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Wednesday 3rd August.  We post our adoptable dogs across the East Coast and Canada so we can reach as many amazing adopters as possible and match each dog with their perfect home. Please note: We do not transport dogs. Approved adopters will schedule an appointment for a meet-and-greet at People 'n' Pets, Freeze Dried Goodies & Gear in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, where you’ll get to meet Tide in person — and hopefully take home your new best friend. If you think Tide might be “the one,” we’d love to hear from you! Health & Background &#226&#156&#133 Neutered &#226&#156&#133 Rabies and all core vaccines up to date &#226&#156&#133 Heartworm/Tick 4DX test: Negative across the board &#226&#156&#133 On monthly flea/tick preventatives &#226&#156&#133 Microchipped &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weight: potential 50-60 pounds Estimated DoB: 23 May 2025 Meet Tide Tide is truly an amazing boy. He has a full package of looks, personality, and yes — he’s a master manipulator! Even after multiple visits to the emergency hospital in Southern Maine, all the staff fell in love with him. One vet even emailed his information to a colleague in New Hampshire just to share what a special pup he is. Medical Background As a young puppy, Tide developed weakness in his legs and, at one point, couldn’t stand or walk. After several trips to the emergency hospital and various treatments, he was diagnosed with two growth-related bone conditions: Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) and Panosteitis. Panosteitis (sometimes called “growing pains”) is a temporary, painful inflammation of the long bones that affects young, fast-growing dogs, particularly large-breed mixes like Tide. Symptoms include shifting lameness and discomfort in the legs. Panosteitis is self-limiting, meaning it usually resolves on its own as the dog matures, typically by 18–24 months. Treatment focuses on managing pain and rest during flare-ups. Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) is another painful bone condition seen in fast-growing puppies. It can cause fever, swelling, thickened bones, lameness, and general discomfort. The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but genetics, nutrition, and infections may all play a role. Most dogs improve as they finish growing, and severe cases are treated with medications, rest, and sometimes hospitalization. Surgery is rarely needed. Tide is currently on prednisone to manage inflammation and pain, and he is thriving! Prednisone is generally used during flare-ups or when symptoms are more pronounced. As he grows and his bones stabilize, he may not need medication continuously — likely only intermittently for temporary stiffness during growth spurts. By around 2 years old, he is expected to be completely done with active symptoms from both conditions. Even when he couldn’t walk as a puppy, Tide’s sweet personality shone through. He would drag himself around to enjoy attention from vets and staff, and now he’s a playful, confident, and mischievous pup. He sometimes gets a little stiff during growth spurts, but these flare-ups are temporary, and he responds well to medication and rest. Personality & Temperament Tide is a gentle, loving, and affectionate pup. He’s full of confidence and mischief, loves attention, and thrives in an active environment. Despite his medical history, he is playful, curious, and completely puppy at heart. He enjoys interacting with people and other dogs, and he’s always ready to bring joy and energy into his home. Best Buddies Tide is inseparable from his sister Robin. Whether cuddling up for naps or getting into mischief, these two are always together. We would love to see them adopted as a pair so they can continue sharing adventures and companionship in their forever home.
