Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. GENE was transferred to GaDaH from a shelter in Texas.  GENE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 23 May 2022. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos. GENE-Girl an energetic and intelligent Belgian Malinois mix with a zest for life. Despite being a mix breed, Gene-Girl possesses many of the distinctive qualities and needs associated with the Belgian Malinois breed. If you're an active individual or family seeking a devoted companion who thrives on structured exercise, mental stimulation, and training, Gene-Girl might be the perfect match for you. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is a spirited and curious dog who approaches every day with enthusiasm. She is highly intelligent and loves to engage in mentally stimulating activities. This clever girl is quick to learn and eager to please, making her an excellent candidate for further training and obedience work. &#226&#128&#139She forms deep bonds with her humans and is known for her loyalty and affectionate nature. As a Belgian Malinois mix, &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl requires an outlet for her abundant energy. She flourishes with plenty of exercise and mental challenges to keep her mind sharp and her body active. Daily walks, jogs, or hikes in nature are essential to meet her exercise requirements. Engaging in activities like agility, obedience training, and interactive play sessions will help channel her energy and ensure she remains a happy and well-balanced companion. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is a highly trainable dog, and her intelligence and eagerness to please make her a joy to work with. She already shows promise in basic commands and leash manners, but continued training will help her reach her full potential. With positive reinforcement techniques and consistency, &#226&#128&#139she&#226&#128&#139 will excel in obedience training, providing a rewarding and fulfilling experience for both of you. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl &#226&#128&#139Bella thrives in an environment where her mental and physical needs are met. She is best suited for an active individual or family who can dedicate time to her exercise regimen and provide mental stimulation through training and interactive play. A securely fenced yard would be beneficial for her to burn off energy safely. While&#226&#128&#139 her mix breed heritage adds uniqueness to her appearance, it's important to understand and cater to her Belgian Malinois instincts and requirements. &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl is great with other dogs, and has lived amongst all ages and sizes since being at the rescue. She does want to chase cats, but more in a curious manner. If you are prepared to embark on a rewarding journey with a remarkable companion, consider opening your heart and home to &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl&#226&#128&#139. With the right environment, love, and care, &#226&#128&#139Gene-Girl&#226&#128&#139 will bring boundless joy, loyalty, and adventure into your life GENE is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.   This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food, treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.    Be sure to read all his information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. Arlo is a high energy dog. He weighs about 85-90 lbs. He has had some professional training, walks well on leash, sit, down commands. However he cannot be trusted off the leash. He likes to run and does not respond to commands off the leash. He loves to play ball and loves attention. Very smart dog. Most people are afraid of his size and bark but he is a gentle giant. He requires a lot of exercise. Needs someone that is active and has had experience with this breed.

Meet Ricky, a young, energetic, playful and did we say energetic Belgian Malinois puppy. How did this boy end up in a shelter? Because someone who didn’t know what it means to be committed to an awesome working dog breed like a Belgian Malinois. There is a reason the Marines love using them. So if all that hasn’t scared you off, and you can’t wait for a challenge and completeness that Ricky can bring to your life, then reach out to us. Sedona Shepherd is working with Wayne Animal Shelter to get Ricky into the home he deserves. We estimate Ricky to be about 4 months old. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ARCHER was transferred to GaDaH with his two siblings from a shelter in Texas.     ARCHER is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. He is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 6 December 2021 and at the  time of transport weighed 45 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. Notes from Foster family where Archer was for 7 weeks before coming back to the rescue. Archer has only been here for three weeks but is probably the best foster dog anyone could hope for. He was very nervous at first, and remains uncertain about changes or loud noises but is much better.   He's an active dog but smart and able to reign it in. In the long term, he might prefer a home with a younger dog but in the short term having a quiet environment is allowing him to learn to sit and learn his name with little distraction. He loves to play with Zephyr when Zephyr has the oomph, but will settle for us when he needs to!   He does seem to prefer women (aka, me) but this may be because I'm home all the time and Henry comes and goes. We're going to have a couple people over this week to see if he gravitates towards women who AREN'T me.   He likes walks, but hates leashes. He is learning MUCH faster to walk on a leash than Zephyr ever did. This afternoon we'll take them both down to the lower pastures and let them run in an empty one. He's good at making his own toys and likes things that come apart more than rubbery things that survive his chewing! He loves my kindling pile and will help himself when need be! He is also very good about trying to keep all his toys outside and continues to seem surprised when I tell him he can play inside.   He is not very food driven, but is praise driven and eager to please. He is really smart, learns quickly and is all-round a lovely boy. The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating. There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free! &#226&#128&#139You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. CINDERELLA was transferred to GaDaH from a high kill shelter in Texas on 22nd April 2023. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue  YouTube channel  and  photo albums on our Facebook page  to see a LOT of pictures and videos.      CINDERELLA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm/tick tested negative. She is on monthly prevention, microchipped, has an estimated date of birth of 30 December 2019 and at the time of transport weighed 63.6 pounds. We have no way of knowing what the actual breed is, so it is up to people to look at the pictures and video's to make up their own mind. CINDERELLA was picked up as a stray who had been hit by a car and had a broken foot. The foot had already started to heal and a callous formed and so re-setting the break was not possible. It was thought that amputation might be needed, however, the vet decided to give her some time to see how she got on. Cinderella has been with a foster family and has been using her foot, she does run, play and jump and so thankfully amputation was not needed. However, where the break was and callous has formed, will be weaker and it is recommended jumping be limited and supplements to help strengthen her bones be given. The shelter is willing to forward x-rays to the adopters veterinarian who has the software to open the radiographs. She may occasionally need pain meds on cold days or at times when she has been a little too energetic and she will get arthiritis in the future so it is important to discuss with your vet for high quality supplements, food and potential treatments for arthiritis. She does NOT need limited exercise, but it is important to restrict activity such as jumping and such that could cause excess impact on her foot. CINDERELLA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550.       This adoption fee covers the cost of running a brick and mortar rescue as well as any transport, veterinary, food,   treats, toys costs and the many expenses that rescues endure to keep the pets in their care safe, and happy.     Be sure to read all the information and if interested, go to the rescue website to submit an adoption application. https://www.giveadogahome-rescue.org/forms/form?formid=5838 The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavors.
