Story
Meet Sunshine Louise! This beautiful Anatolian Shepard/Great Pyrenees mix is super sweet and wants to be your best friend. She currently weights about 90 lbs. She is house trained (she will ring bells on the back door to go outside). She is very well behaved and does not require a crate indoors. Sunshine is a very, very laid back girl….until she feels the need to guard her home. We are unsure of her age, but the guess is around 6 years old. She is smart and very treat motivated. She loves to go on walks especially first thing in the morning and after the sun goes down. She LOVES people and kids! She is good with other dogs as long as they respect her boundaries. She easily integrates into a pack, but remains kind of a loner. She is spayed, (after having 10 puppies), microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. She has also completed Heart Worm treatment. Sunshine loves belly rubs and pets. She will look lovingly and longingly into your eyes like she knows that her life has been saved and she is so very grateful. She is a very calm girl who prefers to lay on the cool floor. She is a “guardian” breed and will quietly take up a position (usually in a doorway) and just relax. She knows basic commands but does have a stubborn streak. Usually a treat will encourage her to follow your directions. Sunshine does have a high prey drive, so no cats or tiny toy breeds please. She also has a history of fence jumping to pursue wildlife, so a privacy fence would be ideal. If you would like to meet this precious girl and make her part of your family, please complete an application at https://forrescue.net/dog-application/ Sunshine is located in North Alabama with transport available to your area. Friends of Rescue requires a virtual home visit and vet reference prior to all adoptions. All Friends of Rescue animals are indoor family members.

Hotdog! Did I hear a hotdog bag? Can I have a hotdog!? Hi, I'm Kiri and I'd love that hotdog in your hand! If you share, I think we could be really good friends! I'm a sweet girl looking for my forever home. I'm hoping my new family can understand I love cuddles, but I also need my space sometimes. I promise I'm worth all the hotdogs. My foster mama let me cuddle in bed with her and even on the couch! I'm a little shy and nervous at first but once I get used to my new home, I'll be a snug little bug on the couch! If you think I'd be a good fit, and have some extra hot dogs, come meet me today! Primary Color: Cream Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 47.4 Age: 4yrs 7mths 1wks

Story
Meet Possum! He is a 1 year old, 75-pound Anatolian Shepherd Mix. Life with Possum is awesome! We might say it too much, but it's true - he is a very good boy. Possum is a shy but friendly dog who is relatively low maintenance. He takes time to truly warm up to new people (about three weeks or so) but once he does, you become his one and only! True to his breed mix, your home is his to protect: though not a big barker, he's happy to alert you when someone is at the door or on your property. Overall, he can be a bit aloof, but likes to greet his people at the door, in the morning, and will occasionally sneak over to his human during the day for some affection. Possum is COMPLETELY house and crate trained, even enjoying some time in his crate all on his own! This smart boy has excellent house manners as well, even knowing not to jump up on your furniture. He loves all people (kids over the age of 5 included!), and is even friendly with other dogs, though often isn't too keen on sharing his things with them (though who can blame him for wanting all the toys and treats for himself)? As a bonus, he is completely leash trained and prepared for plenty of long walkies. On the topic of toys and treats, Possum LOVES his toys and enjoys people food as well. He also loves to dig holes in the dirt for fun, and loves having a yard. This quirky boy is a perfect balance between not too outgoing but not too shy. If you're interested in adding a gorgeous large-breed to your home, apply for Possum today! Possum is currently being fostered in Elizabeth, NJ. His adoption fee is $425. To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Available for adoption! Alena is a female Great Dane who is around 6 years old. She is 120 lbs of pure love! Alena was found as a stray after what could have been a breeder dump since others were found just the same area and it appears that she has been a mama.   This lovable lady is crate trained and potty trained. She has been in foster homes with many other dogs and has done great with all of them! She also rides very nicely in the car. This big girl says age is just a number and loves to zoom around the yard, play chase with her foster fur siblings  and play with toys.   After a short zoom session outside Alena will become a lap dog! She will curl up in a “little” ball and snooze away with you. She is a total love bug and wants all of the cuddles and pets. She will also quickly become your shadow and follow you everywhere (yes, even the bathroom).   We would like to see Alena have a fenced in yard in her forever home so she can stretch her legs. A forever family with Great Dane or other large breed dog experience is preferred.   If you are interested in adopting Alena please email us at almosthome4dogs@yahoo.co  (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US!  We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php and http://www.hollysden.com/say_no_to_shock.htm (scroll down and click on the  "Invisible Fencing Systems" link). We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 27, 2024, 7:30 am
