She was adopted from FairyTails 4 years ago and has lived an amazing life with her beloved Mom. Unfortunately, the only family she had sadly passed away, and she was returned to FairyTails, as she had nowhere else to go. Roxie is sad and confused, but she is so sweet and loving. She is used to being a spoiled, cherished only pet, and that is what she prefers. She can not live with other dogs or cats. She is used to a calm, quiet home with an older owner, and that is the setting that would be ideal for her. She is looking for a place to live out her golden years. She may not run and play anymore, but her love and loyalty are absolutely unmatched. She likes to sit and be loved on, and she'll give you plenty of affection in return. If you're looking for a slower paced, very loving senior sweetie to share your life with, please come and meet Roxie! Story
Meet Leona! Leona is a 5 year old cattle dog/pitbull mix. Leona needs a home with no cats or small animals and no small children. She is still very much a puppy and loves to play. She loves people and loves to give kisses. She would do best in a fenced in yard. If you would like to make Leona a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org  LEONA'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170   *Due to Covid 19 restrictions some of our new intakes vet scheduling has been delayed. We will still go ahead and schedule your meet and greet even if all the vetting needed has not been completed. Once vetting is complete the approved adopter will be able to take their dog/cat home to their forever home. The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    April 26, 2024, 6:20 am

Story
Say hello to Meeko! Meeko is part Australian cattle dog. He is relentlessly happy. He will always be happy to see. Loves playing outside, with toys, or with other dogs. He is also a great cuddler.  He had a tragic puppyhood. He had a horrible case of mange. He recovered from that, then he got so sick and almost died, but he fought back! Then he was in a bad car wreck but bounced back from that too. He clearly lives life to the fullest and loves everyday after going through those set backs. He is crate trained, and loves crashing hard in his bed while he waits for his person to get home from work. He is also very food motivated, so very trainable, and does great on walks.  He has been healthy, happy and fully vaccinated for some time. His foster home for the last year has had 2 other dogs and a decent size yard for him to blow off some energy. His perfect home would include someone who is as loving as he is, has had experience with energetic dogs in the past, someone who is active, and has a yard so he can run off some of his breeds naturally energy. MEEKO'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs.
