Story
Meet Anari, a delightful Australian Cattle Dog in search of a loving forever home. At 6 years old, Anari has already experienced some of life's challenges, but with the right environment and patient care, he has the potential to be a devoted companion. Anari gets along well with other dogs, making him an excellent choice for families or individuals who already have furry friends at home. He understands the dynamics of canine socialization and is likely to thrive in a household where he can engage in play and companionship with other dogs. Due to his past experiences, Anari tends to be a bit shy and cautious when encountering new people or situations. It is important to provide him with a calm and secure environment, allowing him the time and space to adjust at his own pace. With patience and understanding, you will witness his true personality shine as he gradually comes out of his shell. When initially meeting new people, Anari may exhibit protective behavior by barking, almost like a guard dog. This is his way of expressing caution and fear, which can be mitigated through positive reinforcement and gentle handling. As he gains trust and becomes more familiar with his surroundings, his guard barking is likely to subside. Once Anari feels comfortable and secure, he settles into his new environment and demonstrates his true nature. His shyness transforms into a loyal and affectionate demeanor, creating a special bond between him and his adopter. The more he is handled and shown patience, the more he will flourish and become an integral part of the family. Anari would benefit from a calm and structured household, where his need for routine and stability can be met. Engaging him in regular exercise and mental stimulation, such as puzzle toys or obedience training, will not only keep him physically fit but also provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment. If you are an experienced dog owner who understands the needs of a shy and sensitive dog, Anari could be the perfect addition to your family. His journey to overcome his fears and blossom into a confident companion will be a rewarding experience for both of you. Open your heart and home to Anari, and you will witness the transformation of a timid dog into a loyal and loving lifelong friend. Link to apply: http://www.kcpetrescue.org/adoption-services.html

Story
Curly is an adorable one-year-old Cattle Dog Mix who is eagerly looking for a forever home. With her calm and quiet demeanor, Curly has won the hearts of everyone she meets. She possesses a loving nature especially once she forms a bond with her human companions. Her foster mom has enjoyed taking care of her and has stated that her company was most endearing. They spend many nights cuddling as the foster works on her computer. Even though her foster mom will miss her, she knows Curly is ready for the next big step in her life in finding a loving family! How did Curly come into the ArkanPaws program? There is a video of her walking across a bridge with several other abandoned dogs in an area known for dumping unwanted pets. The ArkanPaws volunteer returned with live traps and by the next morning she was secured. At first, she was afraid and it took about one week to win her trust. She still is shy when initially meeting strangers but warms quickly when she feels safe.  One of Curly's most endearing qualities is her gentle and sweet nature. She approaches life with a relaxed attitude, always ready to take things at her own pace. While she may initially be reserved, it doesn't take long for her to warm up to people, and once she does, her affection knows no bounds. She enjoys being petted and following her person around the yard and house. How did Curly get here name? Her cute little tail is what she is named for! Her appearance is very unique with her dappled short coat and corkscrew like tail. Her coat sheds very little and is easy to maintain. Curly will do best with older kids who are eight years old and up. She’s learning to like toys and has a zest for treats. With proper interaction, she has the potential and curiosity to engage in play. She's doing very well with the cats in her foster home. Curly is curious, but does not advance, or act aggressive in any way with them.  She’s crate trained and still trying to master potty training. Her foster mom is working with her to walk on leash. She is fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, all core vaccinations, and has been examined by a licensed veterinarian. Her current weight is a healthy 38 pounds. Her adoption fee is $450, which covers her transport and all of the vetting she has received. She has been tested for heartworms and the result was negative. ArkanPaws is not licensed in the state of Massachusetts and unable to deliver there. ArkanPaws is a non-profit agency and all adoption fees supports other pets in need.  ##1771554##
