Story
Mocha is a very sweet, smart, and sensitive dog who suffered a lot of abuse early in his life, before I adopted him from a rescue shelter. He has been in our family since December of 2021. I have worked with two trainers, and he has made big strides. He is afraid of hallways and cars and used to not be able to move in between rooms. He is much better now, and does not race at every car when we are out walking. Unfortunately, he is unreliable about other dogs and people, and I am not able to let him be in the same room when my kids or I have friends over. He also loves to play with other dogs, but can get aggressive around people-oriented dogs like labs and retrievers. I can't let him off leash anymore, and have to keep him apart when other people are over. I am so sad, but I am not a strong enough owner for my dog. I am hoping to find a wonderful home where his quality of life will be better. He is lonely and spends most of his time alone, which is not fair to him.

Story
Sydney is a social dog who enjoys spending quality time with her people, but she's not the type of dog who's going to lay around on the couch all the time. She's a very active young girl, and with the right person and some positive reinforcement training she'll likely be a great candidate for some dog sports! While she hasn't shown much interest in toys during her time here, she does like to run-- and she already knows `sit` and `paw`.OTHER PETS: Sydney hasn't shown much interest in other dogs during her stay at TJO, but she is calm and relaxed around them, so it's possible she could get along with another dog who knows when to let her have her own space. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] NO CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE:Sydney is a fairly happy and easy-going dog, but it's important for her to get exercise and mental enrichment daily! With this in mind, she could possibly be a good first dog for someone who lives an active lifestyle. [First Dog]KIDS: Sydney is uncomfortable with some types of handling, and so would do best with kids who are old enough to understand and respect her boundaries. [12+ (Must Meet First)]ACTiVITY LEVEL:Sydney is a dog who likes to be active! She's got a lot of energy and likes to run, and with continued training she would likely be a good hiking companion as well. And while daily walks will be important for her, she's also the kind of dog who will need various forms of mental enrichment-- to make sure both her body and brain are tired out at the end of the day. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:Sydney is a fairly social dog with people, but she's still young and has only just begun her training journey, so she would do best learning with someone who can offer patience and confidence while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Sydney to not only learn her basic cues, but also provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner. With further training, she could also be a candidate for other activities like flyball, agility, hiking, lure coursing, weight pulling or dock diving! [Moderate]GROOMING:While Sydney does have a short coat, routine brushing will help to decrease shedding within the house. [Minimal / Routine Brushing]July 26, 2024, 5:58 pm

Story
Meet Fynn! A spirited adult Australian Cattle Dog from Philadelphia, PA, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a luxuriously red-mottled coat. Fynn's captivating smile and his playful, high-energy demeanor are sure to brighten anyone's day! Despite the bustling city life, Fynn has made significant progress in adapting, but he's now looking for a forever home that can offer the tranquility and space he truly needs to thrive. Fynn is a medium-sized, 50 pound fellow making him just the right size for a good cuddle session on the couch! He's a constant companion who loves engaging in training, play, and snuggling. Fynn has a particular fondness for toys with squeakers, playing fetch, chase games with a flirt-pole, and going on adventurous hikes. He is well-trained and knows a plethora of commands including sit, down, stay, touch, look at me, and go to your place, showcasing his eagerness to please and intelligence! Fynn's life in the city has been challenging due to his substantial anxiety, especially around body handling and strangers in the home. Despite this, with the help of a dedicated professional care team, he has made great strides in acclimating to his environment. However, the noise and crowds still trigger his anxiety, making a quieter, more spacious suburban or rural setting ideal for him. When left alone for short periods, Fynn is perfectly content, exhibiting no issues. He's house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. Currently, Fynn is on a regimen of Gabapentin and Fluoxetine (Prozac) to manage his anxiety, but this might not be necessary in a calmer environment where he can feel more at ease. Fynn's endearing qualities are boundless! His goofy smile and affectionate nature are truly heartwarming, and he has a playful spirit that makes every day an adventure. He's good with cats and would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can run freely and enjoy the quietude he craves! Are you the family that can offer Fynn the serene and spacious home he needs? If you have a loving environment with plenty of land and a desire to engage with this lovable pup daily, Fynn might just be your perfect match. Let’s make Fynn’s dream of a peaceful, quiet home come true! Contact us at adopt@joyfulpets.com to start this beautiful journey with Fynn!
