Story
Meet Wheezy! Wheezy is a devoted, affectionate four-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart currently in Centreville, VA, whose heart is just as big as her personality. With her snowy white coat, golden patches, and striking icy blue eyes, she’s as beautiful as she is loving! She’s a loyal, cuddly, and playful companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her people, whether that means snuggling on the couch or enjoying her favorite activity, gentle but enthusiastic roughhousing with her favorite humans. Her name suits her perfectly. When she’s soaking up affection, she lets out little wheezes and oinks of pure contentment, like a happy little piglet. It’s impossible not to smile! A Smart Girl Who Thrives On Connection Wheezy is remarkably intelligent and responsive. She’s fully house-trained, knows several commands including sit, shake, place, free, and wait, and learns new skills quickly. During play, she brings joyful enthusiasm while staying gentle, and she responds immediately when asked to calm down. Her attentiveness and responsiveness reflect her strong desire to connect and please. What Wheezy Needs To Thrive Wheezy would thrive as the only pet in the home. She’s reactive toward other animals and isn’t comfortable sharing her space, but in a pet-free environment, she can relax and show her best qualities, affectionate, playful, and deeply devoted. With new people, Wheezy typically needs about 10 to 15 minutes to warm up. She may bark or seem unsure at first, but offering a bit of wet food helps her feel comfortable quickly. Once she decides you’re okay, she’s all in, following you around and happily seeking out affection! Caregivers consistently describe her as really sweet and easy once she’s had that brief adjustment period. She’s also made meaningful progress on leash. While she used to react strongly to dogs across the street, she can now pass them with only a brief fluff and grumble before moving on. With the right precautions, walks have become much more enjoyable. The Details Wheezy receives Venlafaxine to help manage stress and reactivity, and it’s been very beneficial for her. She also follows a special diet to manage food sensitivities, which helps her feel her best. Vet visits require some preparation and pre-visit medication, and with that support, she does well. Is Wheezy The Right Match For You? If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and delightfully quirky companion who will be your constant shadow, Wheezy may be a wonderful match! She would do best with an experienced adopter in a quiet, pet-free home. She’s not currently compatible with homes with young children. Interested in learning more? Please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com. Wheezy is ready to meet the family who’s right for her! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Arley is a young pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She’s incredibly sweet, social, and absolutely adores people. Despite a rough start — Arley was attacked and suffered a serious injury that left a large wound on her leg — she’s made an amazing recovery. She now carries a scar, but it’s just a small reminder of her strength and resilience. Her spirit? Unshaken. Arley hasn’t let her past slow her down one bit. She’s full of life, love, and energy — always ready for playtime, walks, and making new friends. Her happy tail wags and bright eyes say it all: she’s ready to start her next chapter. Arley would thrive in an active, loving home where she can continue to heal emotionally and grow with her people. If you're looking for a brave, affectionate pup who will bring joy and inspiration to your life, Arley is your girl.

Story
Looking to rehome our 5 year old Blue Heeler, Tucker is a 5 year old male that has been neutered. This wasn’t an easy decision for us to make, we’re going to miss him terribly. Tucker needs to be in a home where his new owners understand his breed, he needs to be worked not only physically, but mentally too. He would be better in a home where he is the only dog, he will assert his dominance over a frisbee. I wouldn’t recommend him being with young children, he would do better with an older kid. He’s been attached to my hip since day one, will love you hard and protect you. We’ve had a couple incidents where another dog has come onto our property and it has caused a fight, not only with those dogs but ours as well. I truly think he prefers people over another dog being around, he has never been aggressive towards people. He loves women (smart boy) and can be skeptical of men, but comes around once he’s warmed up. He truly is an amazing dog, he’s very smart and such a love bug

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxQD-9Bt1kw John Connor has been with the rescue since last summer since he and his mom were dumped in the country. He is about 18 months old now and I don't understand why he hasn't been adopted. He is adorable, he only weighs about 40 lbs, he is great with other dogs, people, and cats. Perfect little dude. He loves to run and play and splish splash in the water. He would make a great companion for an active individual or a family that enjoys outdoor adventures or spending lots of time in the backyard. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) -- Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Meet Anari, a gentle soul looking for a loving home! This sweet pup may be a bit shy at first, but with a little patience and kindness, he blossoms into a loyal and affectionate companion. Anari gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company, making him a wonderful fit for a multi-dog household. He's also comfortable around older children who understand his need for gentle interactions, but younger kids can make him nervous. Anari will thrive in a calm environment where he can settle in at his own pace, surrounded by people who appreciate his quiet charm and loving nature. If you’re ready to give Anari the stable and patient home he deserves, he’ll reward you with a lifetime of loyalty and love. Link to apply: http://www.kcpetrescue.org/adoption-services.html
