Story
Sydney is a social dog who enjoys spending quality time with her people, but she's not the type of dog who's going to lay around on the couch all the time. She's a very active young girl, and with the right person and some positive reinforcement training she'll likely be a great candidate for some dog sports! While she hasn't shown much interest in toys during her time here, she does like to run-- and she already knows `sit` and `paw`.OTHER PETS: Sydney hasn't shown much interest in other dogs during her stay at TJO, but she is calm and relaxed around them, so it's possible she could get along with another dog who knows when to let her have her own space. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] NO CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE:Sydney is a fairly happy and easy-going dog, but it's important for her to get exercise and mental enrichment daily! With this in mind, she could possibly be a good first dog for someone who lives an active lifestyle. [First Dog]KIDS: Sydney is uncomfortable with some types of handling, and so would do best with kids who are old enough to understand and respect her boundaries. [12+ (Must Meet First)]ACTiVITY LEVEL:Sydney is a dog who likes to be active! She's got a lot of energy and likes to run, and with continued training she would likely be a good hiking companion as well. And while daily walks will be important for her, she's also the kind of dog who will need various forms of mental enrichment-- to make sure both her body and brain are tired out at the end of the day. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:Sydney is a fairly social dog with people, but she's still young and has only just begun her training journey, so she would do best learning with someone who can offer patience and confidence while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Sydney to not only learn her basic cues, but also provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner. With further training, she could also be a candidate for other activities like flyball, agility, hiking, lure coursing, weight pulling or dock diving! [Moderate]GROOMING:While Sydney does have a short coat, routine brushing will help to decrease shedding within the house. [Minimal / Routine Brushing]July 26, 2024, 5:58 pm

Story
Curly is an adorable one-year-old Cattle Dog Mix who is eagerly looking for a forever home. With her calm and quiet demeanor, Curly has won the hearts of everyone she meets. She possesses a loving nature especially once she forms a bond with her human companions. Her foster mom has enjoyed taking care of her and has stated that her company was most endearing. They spend many nights cuddling as the foster works on her computer. Even though her foster mom will miss her, she knows Curly is ready for the next big step in her life in finding a loving family! How did Curly come into the ArkanPaws program? There is a video of her walking across a bridge with several other abandoned dogs in an area known for dumping unwanted pets. The ArkanPaws volunteer returned with live traps and by the next morning she was secured. At first, she was afraid and it took about one week to win her trust. She still is shy when initially meeting strangers but warms quickly when she feels safe.  One of Curly's most endearing qualities is her gentle and sweet nature. She approaches life with a relaxed attitude, always ready to take things at her own pace. While she may initially be reserved, it doesn't take long for her to warm up to people, and once she does, her affection knows no bounds. She enjoys being petted and following her person around the yard and house. How did Curly get here name? Her cute little tail is what she is named for! Her appearance is very unique with her dappled short coat and corkscrew like tail. Her coat sheds very little and is easy to maintain. Curly will do best with older kids who are eight years old and up. She’s learning to like toys and has a zest for treats. With proper interaction, she has the potential and curiosity to engage in play. She's doing very well with the cats in her foster home. Curly is curious, but does not advance, or act aggressive in any way with them.  She’s crate trained and still trying to master potty training. Her foster mom is working with her to walk on leash. She is fully vetted: spayed, microchipped, all core vaccinations, and has been examined by a licensed veterinarian. Her current weight is a healthy 38 pounds. Her adoption fee is $450, which covers her transport and all of the vetting she has received. She has been tested for heartworms and the result was negative. ArkanPaws is not licensed in the state of Massachusetts and unable to deliver there. ArkanPaws is a non-profit agency and all adoption fees supports other pets in need.  ##1771554##

Story
NEEDS A HOME Meet Raney!  He is a young handsome heeler mix at about 1-2 years old. Raney was rescued from a hoarding situation with over 50 other neglected and malnourished animals. Now he is healthy and ready for a home! He's very laid back, quiet and easy going. Definitely more of a ladies man but does warm up pretty fast to men. His soulful eyes and gentle demeanor will be sure to win you over! He'd be suitable for just about any lifestyle once he’s given proper time to acclimate. Perfect size for apartment living. He loves to watch TV and check himself out in the mirror. Now that he's settled in and comfortable in his foster home he's become more playful and very snuggly! He has an orange ball and a blue rubber ball that he LOVES and carries around everywhere he goes. He's crate trained, house trained and walks well on the leash! He gets along with other dogs, doesn't mind cats and I think he's a great candidate for a family with older kids. He is a little nervous and startles with loud noises until he gets settled in. If you're looking for a sweet companion to add to your home - he's the man! Currently being fostered in Rhode Island and available for meet and greets! ##2039687##
