Story
Winston - Deaf Dogs Hear with Their Hearts Hello world I'm Winston....please don't mind me as I practice my sign language! You see, I'm hearing impaired, but I am super smart so I use hand signs to communicate! I have been waiting a while for my perfect home, but I will be a great companion once I find the right match. I will need SEVERAL MEETS before adoption, as I am people selective and it takes me a bit to get to know and trust someone. I'm a two year old who is a happy, handsome fella with gorgeous baby blues and would love to be someone's one and only. Once I trust them, I'd love for them to take me on walks/runs, play fetch, toss me toys, snuggle with me and teach me new commands! I do have a few requirements, though: I NEED A FENCED IN YARD, AN EXPERIENCED OWNER AND MUST BE AN ONLY DOG. So, if you have enough time, patience, dogs skills and can go slow with me, I will learn to trust you and be your loyal forever boy. No apartments please! Also, small children make me really nervous as I can't hear them so teenagers and adults only. I also prefer a house that won't be active with too many strangers coming and going but am crate trained, if needed. I currently living with a trainer and she loves me so much that she will provide continued training help for my whole life! I haven't had many good experiences in my life yet, so I'd love to be your loyal best new friend, if you have time to devote to me! Want to meet me and see how amazing we can be together? Please apply at www.nalarescue.org to adopt or for more information. All shots, boosters, rabies, spay/neuter, and microchip is included in NALA Rescue's Adoption donation fee. All meets are scheduled by appointment only once an application is approved. Please apply at www.nalarescue.org and if approved we will reach out to the applicant and answer all questions. All dogs/puppies are available until they are removed from this site so please no inquires if a dog is available.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information. Do you like Squirrels with bright eyes and fluffy tails? Little Miss Squirrel is an adorable three-year-old Cattle Dog mix with thoughtful intelligence. When she smiles, it’s like the sun is coming out. Squirrel would love to live with an individual or a couple for whom she can provide nighttime cuddles and daytime window security services. She has completed several Dog Training classes and one of her favorite games is 15-minute “Training” to learn anything new from Agility commands to Tricks which she learns quickly. Squirrel loves to snuggle, play her Brain Games, and snooze next to her people while they work. Although she is young, Squirrel is very calm and somewhat low energy. She loves car rides and long walks. She is great at the vet’s office, grooming, and nail trims. Squirrel’s Cattle Dog genes show in her willingness to enforce compliance with household rules. Although it is endearing to many humans, few dogs find it a compatible lifestyle, and small children may not want her as a governess. Neighborhood cats have thought it fun to walk the top of the fence and torment her, so her cat friendliness is uncertain at this time. Squirrel's adoption fee is $275, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped. Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.May 2, 2026, 1:28 am

Story
This is Winstorn, an Australian Cattle dog, born Oct 2020.  Winston is currently in a foster home.  His foster family says he  loves to cuddle with them.    He is house-trained and non-destructive when left home alone.   He would prefer to be an only dog in the home.  He is good with kids and has lived with cats.   Winston is very attentive and affectionate with his people.  He is anxious to find a family that will give him all the attention, snuggles and love he deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Winston is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Adoptions for Winston are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
If you're looking to adopt a sensational senior, Lucy is your girl.  She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix, born Dec 2015.  She is a little timid at first, but will be your best pal once she get to know you.  She is seriously the ideal dog!   She needs a home with a fenced yard and she is usually good with other dogs (we would do a dog intro to make sure she got along with any in your house).  She might prefer to be the only dog in the house, it really depends on the dogs.  She does fine with dogs that don't get in her face.  She gets a little nervous and when they get right in her face.  She's met lots of other dogs she's been fine with.  Here are a few more fun facts: *Good with kids         *House trained *Low energy               *Walks well on a leash *Curious about cats and gets along with them  *Trained to stay off furniture      *No counter surfing for food      *Leaves the trash alone and doesn't chew on anything that is out around the house *She is not kenneled during the day because she's very well behaved, but she is also fine in a kennel. *She has 2 medications she takes in the evening for incontinence.  As long as she has them, she doesn't have accidents. She's very good at letting her foster mom know when she needs to go outside.  The medication isn't too expensive.  *She needs to be on Purina ProPlan urinary food. She goes through about a bag during a month.  This food helps reduce the chance of stones forming in her bladder/kidney. *Lucy likes to follow her foster mom around the house to see what she's doing, but if it's not exciting to her, she will go back to her bed and lay down.   If you're looking for a well-behaved senior girl that you don't have to train, Lucy might just be for you. The suggested adoption donation for Lucy is $275. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
